So I didn't update. Mammy died on the 9th of May.

Im still struggling. Tis 2 months tomorrow. I turned 40 alone on Sunday. It's a different kind of struggle.

Anyway. Came on to say heard on the radio news that Gregggg has officially been sacked. And is moaning it's unfair

I see that they are stuck now about what to do with the next series. They can’t show it as it is but it would be so unfair on the contestants to not show it.

I think it would be disrespectful to the contestants to not show the new series.

They could edit him out. Yes, most of the edits would be obvious but I’d be fine with that. We all know why, so any disjointed bits would not bother me.

I agree with showing it, and editing out as much of him as is practicable. That’s the best compromise.

I don’t see how it can be that difficult a decision - they should respect the contestants and the audience. Even the technical job of doing the editing is so much easier these days with current editing tools and AI. Take a bit of Gregg out, add in an extra bit of contestant to each episode, so they all benefit from Gregg’s absence with a little more coverage.

(I presume the BBC has moved on from paper cups, string and rusty butter knives?)

Give him as limited a credit as possible, while staying within the legal envelope of his contract.

I agree with WinterCrow.
He's not going to gain from it going out, especially if there's a disclaimer before each episode that would remind people what an unpleasant git he is.
It would be awful for the contestants who've worked so hard for it just to be binned.

Edited because I could see the argument that his reputation might recover if people saw him on MC, so that might be a non-financial gain.
Personally, I think it would remind people of just how horrible he's been.

They could maybe get John to re-film some bits solo if necessary - anything that’s just the two of them either discussing dishes or giving instructions where you don’t see the contestants. He could just talk to camera instead.

Re-editing isn’t as easy as that, unfortunately, I don't think. It would be a massive undertaking. I’ve already seen an article explaining why they’ve considered it but just don't think they can do it.

It would be a massive job. They can’t show reduce his screen time I guess, and get John in to do more, but things like the tasting of the food would be very hard.

I think they should drop it for a year, rethink the format and go back to it later. But what will they do with the one they’ve shot.

Maybe we can finally move to the same format as the rest of the world? The UK format is so tired and boring in comparison.

I think it needs a revamp. I feel awful for the amateurs whose series was in the can and now seems certain to be in the bin, but with both presenters gone they are hardly going to show the thing unfortunately.

I do hope it isnt the end for masterchef completely. Ill miss watching along with ye lot, all the more now it's just me

They have sat on this (or the person making the allegations has) for 8 years. Either the bbc is shitting itself that it comes out, or they have been sitting on it and are using it to boot Jonty out along with Greggggg to reformat.
If they vamp it up to be like the other MC from around the world(which I hope they don’t, I like the small scale, less flashy format of the uk one) then they will need someone flashy to fit. I can’t think of any food related peeps that fit. And would the uk Michelin bunch want to do it?
Anyway, it’s Grace I feel sorry for, she’s supposed to be replacing Gregggggg.
