I laughed when Tasha said she wished she could do lifts every week - if she'd have been paired with Vito she would be!

derxa · 23/11/2024 21:49

C’mon JB

Samcro · 23/11/2024 21:54

tash is a lovely dancer. But she should be.
I was impressed by how happy Pete was when she got 40.
i hope Pete is not in the DO

😈

Figgygal · 23/11/2024 22:06

Loved JB and Lauren - she's phenomenal
Sarah's rumba was the least rumba I've ever seen.
I'm ready for Chris to go tbh

Katya's dress and Vito's chest gave something for everyone

Still don't have a preferred winner

GrouchyKiwi · 23/11/2024 22:57

I loved Sarah's rumba (and I don't usually like them) but I'd like Vito to tone down the choreography a little. I know she's an excellent dancer and can handle it, but how lovely would it be for her to do something beautiful and strikingly simple, but perfectly performed.

I guess the time for that might have passed, seeing how close we are to the end of this year, but it would make a lovely change.

NorthernGirl1981 · 23/11/2024 23:06

I loved Pete just for being Pete. I felt the lights took away from the performance though as I found it hard to see the details of what he and Jowita were doing, and the song choice was awful. He got a vote from me tonight because I just love his attitude, he’s taking it seriously and he’s trying his best and that’s what I like to see.

JB and Lauren were FAB! It put a big smile on my face!

For some reason I’m really starting to go off Sarah…..I can’t put my finger on it but there’s just something about her that sits uneasy with me.

Jamie wasn’t the best tonight and I think it may be the end of the road for him.

Chris and Diane were just brilliant - maybe not for the dancing skills but certainly for the wonderful team they make. It’s so inspiring what he has been able to achieve and I definitely think he will make the final.

Montelle as usual was pretty forgettable. Whenever she comes on I find myself picking up my phone and scrolling through random stuff. I just don’t find her entertaining as a person. She can dance well but she’s not interesting. I absolutely ADORE JoJo so I am really gutted that he’s been partnered with Montelle as I feel that his personality and character hasn’t been able to shine through in the same way as it has in previous series because she’s so flat.

Tasha’s dance was lovely, as I would expect it to be, but it has no emotional impact on me. She’s just a dancer, dancing with another dancer, with no real chemistry between them. Technically she is flawless, but there’s just no connection.

My prediction is Jamie and Montelle for the dance off and Montelle will be saved.

Samcro · 23/11/2024 23:18

I know what you mean.
I want to vote for the women.
but one is a ringer, one I forgettable and one is irritating.
pete is just fun,

dollybird · 23/11/2024 23:37

JB and Lauren were the dance of the night for me.

SharpOpalNewt · 24/11/2024 01:44

Pete has been the worst for the last couple of weeks. Starting to linger like a rancid prawn.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/11/2024 05:42

I thought Sarah was really good but i know there are a lot who have taken against her. she cant help her smug expression.

Lampzade · 24/11/2024 06:35

ChessieFL · 23/11/2024 20:48

My votes went to Chris, Sarah and Montell.

The sambathon felt very unfair to Chris - must be so hard for him trying to dance while having no idea where anybody else is.

I think some of us are underestimating how difficult it is for Dianne to choreograph dances for someone who is visually impaired.
She is doing a fantastic job.
It was great to see her parents .

dollybird · 24/11/2024 07:00

Every week there's always one poster who gets all their posts deleted. I'm always too late to see what the posts said. Must be bad to get every one of them deleted, although I see replies and none of them are 'telling off' that poster.

FagsMagsandBags · 24/11/2024 07:47

I think they might be someone who returns each week under a new username. I know one of the posts that got deleted because it a response to me saying that the Strictly budget is less than we'd think, info I'd got from The Rest is Entertainment podcast. The response was negative about Richard Osman. Not deletable by itself but I then realised a load had gone at roughly the same time.

It's likely that they're a poster who way back was horrible about Punam in a racist way. They seem to be okay for a while each week and to become a little more unpleasant as the show goes on.

I could be wrong but it would make sense of what I've seen over the last two shows.

GrouchyKiwi · 24/11/2024 08:54

Yes, it's that poster, and it's weird that they come back every week to be unpleasant. They have a distinctive writing style.

Is it the poster that always has an 82 in their name? Well known for it according to another thread. Sad really if that is ‘entertainment’ for them - not a mindset I understand.

GrouchyKiwi · 24/11/2024 09:05

No 82 in their name - at least not recently. I can't remember if there's a particular name style they use, though. Maybe just a one-word name with a double letter that isn't usually double.

Piggywaspushed · 24/11/2024 09:23

Changes every week but this week it was what happens when you can't remember something. I think.

I saw a few deleted posts before they went and they didn't stand out but I think it's the posting history.

ChessieFL · 24/11/2024 09:35

I think if you’re a previously banned poster everything new they post just gets deleted even if it’s not offensive.

Piggywaspushed · 24/11/2024 09:36

Yes, someone shrewd is spotting them and reporting them, I am guessing.

“She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I trained in dance from the age of three and then I left home at the age of 16 to go to a musical theatre college."

See here. That isn’t the only reference I’ve seen to her ballet training but the first I can find.

Edit: Independent. Like her fellow Strictly 2024 contestant Tasha Ghouri, Hadland already has some dance experience, having trained in ballet from the age of three. Ahead of landing an acting role, she started her career dancing in West End musicals, including Cats and Grease when she was 19.

Edited

I read an interview in the Times with her. She started ballet at three went to musical theatre school at 16 was in a couple of West End musicals and then moved into comedy when she was about 22, as far as I remember so probably hasn’t danced much since then, but it’s obviously still a huge help!

Peachy2005 · 24/11/2024 09:42

Re the costume budget, is it that it has been slashed, or just not increased with inflation? I wonder why they don’t just reuse/recycle old costumes rather than mixing in cheap tat from the High Street (which it seems like they might be doing)?

CaveMum · 24/11/2024 09:54

I don’t understand why they stopped working with DSI. They used to make the costumes (proper ones!) and then sell them through the DSI website. It was pretty common to see a beautiful dress on the show then weeks later it was on a competition floor.

The costumes they use now are not suitable/desirable for the competition market so it becomes a viscous cycle - no resale market so budgets get cut making them even less desirable.

EsmaCannonball · 24/11/2024 10:32

I've just watched last night's dances back and Aljaz's suit looked like it was restricting his movement. I remember Tristan saying that wardrobe kept putting the men in high street clothes that were hard to dance in.

Another thing that has been irking me for the last few years is how visibly the pros coach their celebs through the routines. In the past this used to happen when the celebs was a duffer and the routine was going wrong (remember Erin and Richard Arnold's terrible yet funny quickstep?) but now all the pros do it, regardless of the talent of the celeb and the quality of the routine. It somehow stops the viewers getting lost in the routines and makes the performances look like dress-runs. I think it's one of the reasons I didn't love Montell's dance last night even though that is normally my favourite kind of dance on Strictly. I wish the judges would put the pros on notice about it.

I do remember some rude comments about Punam and someone suggesting Chris isn't blind?? I don't know why they keep coming back to get deleted, must get done kind of weird thrill 🤷
