Let the Joel storyline continue to bore us 😞

I’d have quite liked to see Les back, the show is lacking ‘characters’. - and I know I’ll probably be kicked off the thread for this comment, but I find Roy really annoying.

Shellingbynight · 30/11/2024 09:02

I find Roy annoying now, but I liked him when he was with Hayley. Les was an awful character though.

Les was often unemployed but I think he was a labourer for a while, then he worked as a cabbie for Steve. He would have been 69 so unlikely to be working now given how work-shy he was to start with.

helgel · 30/11/2024 10:44

Why does Shona suddenly look much older and different somehow?

And, why is Swain so unappealing, when she's actually attractive?

MrsGrimshaw · 30/11/2024 12:12

@helgel

Swain looks like a Waxwork. Big staring eyes (is that supposed to be good acting as a few of them do it) and very little other facial expressions. A cold fish if ever I saw one 🙄🐟

WinterCrow · 30/11/2024 12:52

Do you remember we worked it out once, what they were potentially eligble to apply for?

Child benefit x5
DLA for Aled
Carer's Allowance for x1 adult
Universal Credit: adult and child allowances, rent element, child with disability element, childcare element
Social tariffs for utilities
Warm Front discount and grant
Local authority assistance and grants (including Council Tax hardship fund)
Eligibility for social housing
Family Fund grants for Aled for specialist equipment and experiences
Food banks
Uniform banks
Blue Badge & Bus Passes for Aled & carer

But no. Nowt.

helgel · 30/11/2024 13:41

I hated last night's episode, all of it. The writers need a good talking to.

Shellingbynight · 30/11/2024 13:42

And Kit now owns Ches's house so I assume they pay below market rent (if at all, don't know if that was ever discussed).

WiddlinDiddlin · 30/11/2024 15:04

I did snort at them finally killing off Les Battersby... I wonder what Bruce did/said to someone several months back to make them think 'fuck it... you're never coming back and lets let the whole nation know it, just in case anyone missed it'...

Ugh so now Leanne is going to force her way back in purely to spite Nick and Toyah who are idiots, but tbh trying to be sensitive over something its absolutely impossible to be sensitive over.

She's a fucking treat isn't she. After months of being utterly vile to them both, practically smashing them together as she shit on them both from a great height with the bloody Institute crap.

eggandonion · 30/11/2024 16:55

I want Spider to come back. He's the one for Toyah. Nick is a business man, Spider is...a hippy doing undercover police work. What's not to love.
Spider should return and unmask kits evil plan.

WiddlinDiddlin · 30/11/2024 18:10

Oooh yes I like that.

I've completely forgotten why Spider buggered off and him and Toyah didn't stick together, was he refusing to stop being a (really crap) undercover cop?

I think he should crash back into Coronation st on a horse, sweep Toyah up, gallop off into the sunset with her leaving Leanne and Nick to gurn and grumble at each other for another billionty years!

AmusedMaker · 30/11/2024 18:12

Chesney is clearly heading for a nervous breakdown. He’s trying to juggle way too much.

AmusedMaker · 30/11/2024 18:13

Oh yes, I keep forgetting about spider too.

I think he had to leave as his cover was blown. He gave Toyah the chance to go with him but, despite him being the love of her life, she chose not to, as too much to stay for in the street, seemingly forgetting she'd spent much of her life not living there and only having her sister left, whom she'd lived happily without for many years!

One might have thought she'd be quite keen to escape the place where she killed Imran and was raped and beaten amongst many other upsetting dramas... but nope, it obviously holds a special place in her heart!

Lorrymum · 30/11/2024 18:37

I thought it was Leanne who ended the relationship with Nick. She was such a cow to him during the weird sect nonsense.

WiddlinDiddlin · 30/11/2024 20:02

I thought she dumped him, several times, telling him she didn't love him, couldn't hack his toxic negative blah blah, they weren't good for each other etc...

Is she really surprised that him and Toyah would still have feelings for each other and get back together (I know she thinks they never split up and whilst they did, its not really relevant as it didn't change how they felt and was never likely to, they only did it because she forced it)...

Ridiculous storyline. And why is she flinging herself at Les's grave (metaphorically speaking) she couldn't stand the man and he was father to her really only by biology, he never actually did a single good thing for her as far as I can recall!

Shellingbynight · 30/11/2024 21:13

Leanne never dumped Nick unfortunately for Nick, she did a lot of arguing and flouncing out but never dumped him. She never showed any interest in Les when he was alive, but now she's using it to get the sympathy vote. She is currently (brilliantly) awful in Classic, shagging Jamie Baldwin and his dad.

PayYourselfFirst · 01/12/2024 07:44

They agreed to split, she moved out

She is just such an awful person and it's yet another tedious storyline

Absolutely. Nobody can live a life that miserable and come out unscathed!

JMSA · 01/12/2024 08:06

Has anyone mentioned David's gaslighting of Shona?
I mean, I know he's popular on here, but it was pretty chilling behaviour Confused

Shellingbynight · 01/12/2024 08:14

That's just David. He was pretty awful to Gail at one point.
I find it really hard to sympathise with Shona about anything. She doesn't really have a character, she's just a series of plot points.

Intheoldendays · 01/12/2024 11:55

What's baffling me about Chesney's house is that it was a council house when les and janice moved in - who bought it - right to buy presumably??? As fat as I can remember, it's always been a Battersby/Brown home, and I don't recall a private landlord taking over (Yes, I'm over involved!)

Deadringer · 01/12/2024 12:39

I looked it up a while back and it seems a private landlord took it over at some point, you know the corrie writers, they will fiddle about with facts to suit the plot though. I am sorry for what happened to Sean Wilson but I am glad Martin didn't come back. He cheated on Gail and sodded off with barely a backward glance, Gail got over him a long time ago. Mind you she deserves better than Jesse too, she should have met someone new, or won the lottery and buggered off with the money.

SabreIsMyFave · 01/12/2024 14:05

I don't know if anyone has already mentioned this or not, so apologies if it's been on here already.

The reason has been revealed as to why Sean Wilson (Martin Platt) was axed from Corrie (when he was meant to have made a comeback this year.)

Shellingbynight · 01/12/2024 15:21

I agree with you @Deadringer about Sean/Martin. Martin was a good character in the early days but he cheated on Gail twice so I didn't really want to see him back again.
