Fill up the old thread first 🙂

OP posts:

Me too @FuckMiniBabybells TBH, I'm not sure who I would have actually picked to win from all the housemates - maybe the guy who went first as he seemed ok, but then again we didn't see enough of him to really know.

Perhaps Sarah if she'd not been so close to Marcello but not overly keen & thought she seemed a dick in her L&L interview.

Overall I think Ali was the best winner of all the housemates but none I really liked (but did enjoy them as housemates!)

I'll see you all on IACGMOOH Grin

FuckMiniBabybells · 16/11/2024 08:26

@MrsPeterHarris Me either. It was like choosing between a cat shit sandwich and a dog shit sandwich.

I think the trouble with BB is the old "you die young a hero, or you live long enough to become a villain"
Or whatever the saying is. I've definitely butchered it 😂

Looking forward to im a celeb. I couldn't bring myself to watch last year because of the possibility of Nige winning. It pissed me off enough that eating kangaroo bollocks turned Matt Hancock into a saint.

Bring on Sunday 🙌

Turmerictolly · 16/11/2024 08:27

I agree that it's a shame that this thread has become increasingly vitriolic (mostly by a couple of posters). There's no need for it. Surely the whole point of any discussion is that people have their own opinions and views and each opinion is valid whether people like it or not. It's just a Tv show.

Anyway, I've enjoyed this series.

I'm looking forward to I'm a celeb too. I never watch it because the tasks make me retch, but I want to see Coleen Rooney. Just hope I can find a good thread on here.

Usually the winner is adored by the rest of the housemates. There was definitely awkward vibes, love to be a fly on the wall at the after party !

Having watched every big brother since July 2000 (as an adult) I'd say you are bang on. Will be interesting to see what didn't make the edit.

Yes, there was a big split in the house this year and the core thought they had it in the bag. I think they really felt it when their group did not win.

But I actually don't think most of the awkward vibes were to do with Ali winning.

Hanah was upset with Segun. Her interview was all about Segun and did not focus on her positive characteristics at all.
Segun was upset about how he was portrayed and I can see his point.
Emma came across badly in her interview too and Lily was visibly upset about her comments. I don't think Emma would be happy with what she said on reflection.
Marcello became increadibly sullen after AJ called him out. This is the same issue he had with Ali and he obviously hates being criticised ( by a woman?). Also he did not get a lot of love from the panel/ audience and I think he expected more praise and adoration.

Usually the interviews leave the housemates with a positive glow about their experiences but they had a funny vibe last night.

The ex housemates there will also have seen what some of the finalists had to say about them. Martha and Lily in particular.

I think BB was really out for the drama this year and overall I don't think they were a hugely likeable bunch.

CellophaneFlower · 16/11/2024 10:01

I think Emma assumed Lily would take her comments on the chin. When she glanced round and saw her face, she did raise an arm or something as if to show her she was only joking.

User12356 · 16/11/2024 10:01

I love Ali and I was delighted that she won. She is neurodivergent, analytical and straight talking and I can see how some people don't get this and understand her.

I didn't see this. I think her comments about Lily's parents were low and I was surprised at Emma. It could have been nerves during the interview in that she said more than she intended to but I don't think she was joking.

Edited

When she said her mum was probably ecstatic to get rid of her? That was just a joke.

IWillAlwaysBeinaClubWithYouin1973 · 16/11/2024 10:26

Its all jokes thought isn't it, that's very much Emma's way of operating - say something nasty then go "only joking", "but I luv ya". I'll try that in work next week see how far it gets me.

I was really surprised last night, I think maybe some posters had been drinking?! Still, all they have to do is say "only joking" - we should get this squared with MNHQ's talk rules - any poster who says "only joking" is immediately off the hook ...!

My DD21 and I have been glued to this series, sometimes wishing we weren't, because it seemed to reflect things in the real world - men must be allowed da banta at all costs, women must protect a man's "right" to be crude and aggressive and vaguely dress it up as "being themselves". We've not long left our home after I divorced abusive ex-H and DD said she could see shades of him in Marcello - be nasty, be angry when called out on it, then insist they are "forgiven" multiple times. I also saw a lot of myself in Ali, and several situations she ended up in, it made some odd things from my past make sense - esp why people don't warm to me. Although I'm in my 60s now I am thinking of going for an ADHD assessment. So the programme sort of helped me in way, but also made depressing watching sometimes.

Totally & my kids grew to love both MH & NF! I had many arguments with them about both men!

MrsPeterHarris · 16/11/2024 10:44

I've said before (not sure whether it was on a BB thread or a LI one) that I love these threads for the discussion & insight into people's ways of thinking & viewing things & then being able to agree to disagree!

Sometimes the threads make me change my opinion & other times not, but they do make me think / question so I also hate when they turn nasty as I do appreciate reading other views!

I've loved this series of BB & loved the cast but didn't like any individual (if that makes sense). I do generally prefer when they have fun rather than when they fight though!

The vibe in the studio was a lot to do with the interviews & not Ali winning IMHO.

I do think Emma usually knows her audience though. She gives it out to people she knows can take it, which is why she didn't go off at Lily much in the house. Emma can definitely take it herself, she's thick skinned so she's fine with dishing it out.

She definitely reacted when she turned and saw lily's face and realised she wasn't laughing along with her, but AJ quickly moved along so she didn't respond.

UpTheMagicChristmasTree · 16/11/2024 10:50

It was a disappointing year overall, the tasks etc were fun, but none of the individuals seemed to be decent human beings.

BakedBeansforabrain · 16/11/2024 10:52

SabreIsMyFave · 15/11/2024 22:28

It's happened before. Turned out a winner knows someone 'on the inside...' It's really suspicious that she has won, because she was fucking awful - boring but also nasty. And she wasn't shocked she won, and you could tell from her face throughout that she knew she was going to win.

I'm not in the Ali Fan Club and think she is vile and toxic. But you enjoy yourself in there.

Utter fix. 100%.

.

Edited

No fix she won 51.9% of all the votes cast in the final more than all of the other 5 put together

CellophaneFlower · 16/11/2024 10:55

I actually think they had quite a good mixture of characters in there, despite not liking quite a few of them.

Hanah I would have loved if she didn't have that aggressive streak she showed with Martha. Besides that I enjoyed her over the top strops and sulks and her ridiculous language. Nathan I also thought was a good housemate... even more so now I know his tender age!

DancingTurtle · 16/11/2024 11:28

I’ve been thinking a lot about it over night and this old lefty, liberal socialist finally gets it.

I thought “woke” just meant old fashioned good manners and respect. I couldn’t figure out why the right had such a reaction to it that they were voting for Brexit and Johnson and Trump. But what I’ve come to realise is that it means no debate, no nuance, no changing your opinion or apologising and forgiveness. It’s extreme and when someone identifies as the opposite sex or self-diagnoses as neurodivergent this cannot be questioned.

(I think Ali was supercilious and, yes, sucked up good energies but I’m glad Marcello didn’t win).

BakedBeansforabrain · 16/11/2024 11:36

I think the single moment that did most to win it for her was Segun with the Red Witch comment and the gang getting caught out for plotting behind her back - from that moment - she went from being the one on the attack to being targeted by a sizeable group. Without that, she may have gone a lot earlier

JaneJeffer · 16/11/2024 11:42

This in a nutshell. It's the suppression of other people's right to have opinions while expecting everyone to listen to theirs. From what I saw, Ali was classic.

Ricky Gervais: Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right.

Soon we won't be allowed to make any kind of joke or have any sort of opinion. It's 1984 Big Brother and it's a sad time to be alive.

It really is. I made a joke once that had absolutely nothing to do with race but a few deemed it racist as the person I made it about was black. My post got deleted and I was so annoyed I emailed MN to ask why. They actually agreed there was nothing in the comment but as 1 person had found it offensive it had to be removed 🙄
