ELLIS - thur 8pm ch 5 - TV PACE. NO SPOILERS

Unusual for ch 5 to do a police drama

Their usual dramas are thriller /romance /murder etx

3 part drama - 2hrs each Episode

As a black woman in the police force, she frequently faces underestimation and disregard from her male peers, yet she shines as a "first-class murder detective, with a determination for justice and a deep well of compassion for those who need it".

Mirroring the structure of popular shows like Midsomer Murders, each instalment of Ellis will span two hours. Sharon D Clarke, whose credits include Showtrial, Lost Boys and Fairies, and Rocketman, takes on the lead role.

The series will follow titular character DCI Ellis, who is sent into various police stations to help solve their failing investigations.

Andrew Gower, recognised for his performances in The Winter King, Carnival Row, and Outlander, portrays DS Harper, Ellis's trusted colleague.

In every episode, the duo is tasked with integrating themselves into a new police department, challenging Ellis to gain the trust of the local team.

It'll be no easy feat for the seasoned copper, as she'll have to win over new teams and local detectives who don't appreciate her involvement.

Who is the actress playing the nurse? She seems familiar.

I really liked this, it was a nice 'gentle' series along the lines of Vera, Shetland and Midsummer's. The goriest thing you got was the severed hand.

It was also good that they tapped into recent events(Nicola Bulley and the Internet sleuths) to use in their storyline last night.

I really hope they do another series because I like the pairing of Ellis and Chet and want to see it develop.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/11/2024 10:44

Again I got slightly confused. I think my mind wandered as 2hrs

So the ex bf shot them

And the man with the hand was trapped and bled to death

OP posts:
XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 15/11/2024 11:00

Yes the man with the hand landed on a trap whilst running from the ex, and then bled to death. His teacher was just trying to help him.

The chef/ex killed Oz and she jumped in to try and save him.

mum2jakie · 16/11/2024 12:13

Just watched the last episode. I really really enjoyed this series. Much better than some of the police series on other channels. I normally struggle with two hour programmes but I could watch hours more of Ellis and Chet!

Loved that they changed the dynamics with the host police force in this one. Nice to see Ellis being supportive towards other officers and getting a better reception. I really hope there is another series. This is excellent tv.
