The eight-part drama (on for 4w and 2 episodes on Monday at 9 and 930)

the rest of his days with his longtime soulmate and lover and best friend, Morris.

Tahj Miles (Marlon from death in paradise) plays Barry's 17-year-old grandson Daniel, who is about to head off to university. But despite his bright future, he's wrestling with some anxieties of his own.

"And Daniel, being someone who's got the world ahead of him, who's got so much potential, he's incredibly smart, level-headed, articulate, respectful, and his family know how good he is and how good he can really be, but that's just more expectations and more responsibilities on your shoulders... which can send you on a completely different stretch of life [if it all becomes too much]."

Miles is joined in the cast by Sharon D Clarke (Doctor Who, Holby City) as Barry's wife Carmel, Tamara Lawrance (Time (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/time-season-2-review/)) and Sharlene Whyte (Sherwood (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/sherwood-season-3-bbc-release-date/)
) as the couple's daughters, and Ariyon Bakare (His Dark Materials, Good Omens) as Morris, the real love of Barry's life.

Didn't know him so had to google, but he's got quite a baby face so might be all right? I don't know the book; I wonder if they cast older because he has to age over the show?

I enjoyed the first one, got a bit bored with the second one which focused on the younger daughter. Will carry on watching though.

Watched the first one so far.
Neither character seems likeable at all to be honest.
And their marriage seems full of bitterness. Which is presumably the point but it's not very enjoyable to watch. I will try episode 2 another day probably

I struggled with the second episode but watched it.

As a pp said none of the characters seem particularly likeable but I’ll probably watch it all now. Whether on Iplayer or episode by episode.

Really liked episode 1 and I love Lennie James. Second one dragged and the younger daughter is such a caricature. Will go again for episode 3 and then decide.

I've watches it all on player...binged it over 24 hours! Awesome, just wish it went on for longer

I've binged it this weekend and loved it. Just got better and better, even though I agree Maxine was a OTT and a bit of a caricature (think that was the point...she was clearly hiding some MH issues).

Loved the colours, the locations, the acting and of course the storyline. I really disliked some characters at some points, but then ended up warming to them.

Perfect portrayal of perfectly flawed human beings. I hope a couple get BAFTAS.

Watched episodes 3+4 last night and really enjoyed. I like the way they have older (well, not Love Island demographic) people having sex, falling in and out of love etc.

Just seen eps 1 and 2 . I've been reading rave reviews from the critics so it must be me . Thought it was so full of nastiness and sarcasm between the characters esp in ep 1 , and the only likeable person is Morris .

@butterpuffed not many of the characters are particularly likeable...I don't think they're meant to be. I think the series gets better after ep3, and really enjoyed it in the end. Stick with it and let us know what you think.
