Anyone watching?

The premise; A mysterious delivery threatens to expose a celebrated journalist’s past. Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline star in a series written for the screen and directed by Alfonso Cuarón.

It’s utterly compelling. And I reached the end of ep 1 before realising the husband is played by Sasha Baron Cohen.

Incredibly beautiful like her mum.

I've now finished watching the whole series. I hear everyone's points/ niggles with it but I found it really absorbing.

I LOATHED Stephen and Robert's characters. I guess we were meant to.

I was so pleased to see the change in Nicholas at the end. He had clearly witnessed such a traumatising scene as a little boy and buried it but I guess it was still inside him, causing him damage/ stunted emotional development.

I couldn't bear Lesley Manville's character in this, contrary to everyone else.

I thought it was a really jnteresting idea that the woman's voice is not listened to until the end

I’ve finally managed to binge the series now, I quite enjoyed the whole thing even though it was pretty preposterous. I kept wondering when Indira was going to appear in it, never twigged she was the narrator. Not sure that particularly worked tbh, but it was a bit different I suppose.

I also didn’t catch what the son said to KK just as he was about to get murdered. “I want to go home”. Maybe? It made KK stop in his tracks so guessing it was supposed to be quite important but yet again bad sound production intervened.

It was clearly something quite profound as KKs character was having no qualms or moral struggle with what he was about to do and was in fact almost gleeful about it

I thought he said wake up mum I want to go
Which I thought was what he would have been saying on the beach before he went in and almost drowned. Though why that particular thought would have come to him?
I think his would-be killer had doubts about his sainted child that the account of the attack fitted with.
I was a bit annoyed that the warning at the start of each show warned of scenes of sexual violence, so I knew that was what had happened before the final episode!

It might be more realistic if no one had believed her in the end, either.

The son said , "I want to go" (we put on the subtitles as we couldn't hear it either).

Finished bingeing and his last night.
Loved it!
The performances were excellent.
I don't think Cate Blanchett is capable of a poor performance!
The 2 youngsters were superb in both scenarios.
SPOILERS
I found that once we knew the truth certain things made sense.

Eg When Lesley Manville received the call from Jonathan's girlfriend's Mum about why she had returned early from interrailing, she smashed the phone after the call....I think he had done something similarly sinister to the girlfriend as the younger Cate Blanchett character.

I think the Lesley Manville knew about his dark side.

And obviously, CB wouldn't go to the funeral of her rapist.

For the majority of the series, CB was the villain and then when the truth comes out we can see why her parenting/bonding with her son was so flawed and damaged.
