Greys anatomy season 21

Episode 1 is on Disney. A bit beihind the US so I'm avoiding googling! Anyone else watching?

I had to rewatch the end of season 20 to remind myself what was happing.

I just pretend Alex leaving didn’t happen in that way. I assume it was done because they didn’t have a choice. They either kill him off screen - not great because you then have to have grieving Jo, which must be a bit dull storyline-wise. They could have had him and Jo leave together, but I guess a) they know Jo is popular, and b) the actress may have had more left on her contract, or didn’t want to leave etc. They could have had him alive but never seen (working at a different hospital etc) but that would really limit Jo’s personal life storylines - no dating, no Linc, no Luna, no twins.
Which only really leaves him leaving Jo as an option, and if he’s going to do that out of the blue, it sort of had to be Izzy and children.

So I don’t know what I’d have done differently if the actor just had to leave. (I’ve thought a lot about it, can you tell 😂)

I know the actor has talked before about having a sleep disorder and needing treatment because he was getting a couple of hours sleep a week. No idea if that was involved in him leaving, but they obviously felt like he wouldn’t be coming back for whatever reason.

Glad I found this thread! I’ve just watched the whole thing, from season 1. I’m up to about episode 3 on season 21 now.

I still miss Derek, it doesn’t seem right seeing Meredith with Nick, they don’t have that same spark.

Private Practice was set in California- when Addison left the regular cast, she moved there and joined a private practice of doctors doing a variety of things (including psychotherapy etc). Amelia became a series regular on pp in the end. It ran for five seasons or so.

I thought private practice was really good. Definitely worth a watch if you like greys.

I read that the actor who played Alex Karev had a bit of a breakdown which is why he left so abruptly.

Yeah - given Justin left mid season, I assumed a health crisis for him or a member of his immediate family that just ruled him out of coming into work. The voiceovers could be done by taking a sound booth to wherever he was. It might also have been touch and go for a bit as to whether he might come back (hence the prolonged “visiting his mother” scripting).

Story wise, him and Jo leaving together to move and pursue a great career opportunity or to look after his mother would have been more coherent, but not very fair to Camilla!

Yes and apart from Webber and Bailey, she’s probably the longest running full time cast member (I’m excluding Grey, and Ben because he left for a bit). They probably want to keep them if they can.

I think Richard and Miranda are the only originals left but I might be wrong.

And Bokhee! But she’s part time :-)

I can’t understand the focus on Bokhee - she’s a long standing extra but she’s not someone I’m interested in at all. Not like she’s been in all episodes or part of any storyline & yet there seems to be so much on GA social media about her & like she is someone the fans care about!

I think Bokhee was actually a surgical assistant in real life from what I read.

Every time Meredith said ‘Bokhee’ when operating, I thought it was a surgical instrument she wanted passing to her 😆

Just watched episode 4 and I really did not need to see Levi in white Y fronts!!

I more meant what's happening before the cliffhanger. I don't have disney anymore so will catch up soon but I don't mind spoilers.

we get the reveal that the gas tank wasn’t empty and then cut to an OR where link is asking for a “cautery” ie a flame, then cut to outside and an explosion.

I absolutely hate cliffhangers. 😭

I love Jo and Link.
Not a fan of Hunt but equally not that much of a fan of Altman either. I liked her a bit more after she said she was choosing herself though.

Does anyone else worry about Amelia relapsing? All her big gambling surgeries this season has made me think she's now addicted to the thrill of it and will end up having a stumble. I actually think she is one of my favourite characters.

Until September at least. And then it depends how far behind the US we end up being (if you’re in the UK). Sometimes it’s just a week, but a couple of years ago it was months.

I’ve just finished watching season 21. I so hope Link is ok. I like him a Jo together and they have the twins on the way.
