This looks like it will be good fun

Loved it too. I've unfortunately watched them all already.
I thought AMM looked nice, didn't get wig vibes at all.

PolaroidPrincess · 02/10/2024 19:51

We're watching it at TV pace although if it was up to me I'd have watched them all already. Looking forward to tonight's episode.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 03/10/2024 05:57

i miss it now its finished

PrincessScarlett · 03/10/2024 13:31

Loving this but then I love David Mitchell. Found it quite moving when he had to tell the wife her husband was dead and his partner talked about the first time you do that you always remember it.

Loving Lucy getting more and more annoyed each time he comes home and he's solved a murder but not got anywhere in looking for his twin 😂

Thought it was quite entertaining, and the obvious nod to Beethoven with the background music, but there was just too much constant Beethoven behind every scene.

It was tinkling away during almost every conversation. I wish they'd just cut a bit of it out. We get the connection 😄

It’s so high pitched I had my teen texting asking us to turn it down from her room!

I’m not loving it, I thought it would be funnier. The set looks like a college to me! I can’t believe it as a police station.

the80sweregreat · 03/10/2024 14:05

It is funny at times
' it seems I solved a murder '
Quirky is how you'd describe this show
( love it though )

“That sign has a skull on it!”

Livingonbananabread · 03/10/2024 14:20

Whoever asked about watching with a 10 year old - we’re watching with our two aged 10 and 12 and they’re loving it! Very rare to find something we all enjoy, except Bake Off and Taskmaster.

Piggywaspushed · 03/10/2024 14:53

Obsessive colour palette report:

In episode 2, mustard was added to the teal.

It reminds me of Ghosts in that it’s suitable for all ages and demographics- it’s not offensive or too serious. Like Ghosts I imagine it will be a big hit for the Beeb internationally.

It always puzzles me just how few shows there are for all ages now… I swear when I was younger there was so much tv all generations could enjoy together. I have very fond memories of watching tv with my family as a kid.

My children barely watch anything with me and I find that sad. The exceptions are Bluey(!), Ghosts, bake-off and now Ludwig.

Livingonbananabread · 03/10/2024 16:10

Yes, mine loved Ghosts too, but watched most of it by themselves as I was so excited to find something they agreed on that I used it as their default flop in front of the telly option while I was getting dinner on. Shame - I wish I’d watched it with them as I agree with you! We do all like Blackadder, but that’s a bit less appropriate…

Ha, yes, I enjoyed the mustard!

mizu · 03/10/2024 20:37

On episode 2 and thoroughly enjoying. Two of my fav people and a lovely, gentle way about it.

the80sweregreat · 03/10/2024 20:43

The one playing the lady boss DI turned up in Joan playing a social worker the other night
She is very good
( was in Mum too)

Faldodiddledee · 03/10/2024 20:53

Very harsh lighting throughout, everyone looks terrible, but in a lovely charming British way.

AMM wig/hair just too short on the fringe, completely unstylish, but she has a great way about her, I think she's the better one out of the two.

David Mitchell is quite good but I'm a bit fed up with the 'on the spectrum' genius odd-ball detective trope, there's been so many.

That police station is very odd, do people have weird cardboard offices in the middle of a big space? What about confidentiality?

The murders and clues could be more complex and drawn out, we've only just found out there's a murder, then there's some people we don't care about, then he solves it in 2 minutes flat. Would appreciate a bit more characterisation here, but that's because I'm thinking of Morse and Lewis and the set-up of the characters before and after the murder. It's too fast here and we don't care at all about them.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 05/10/2024 21:15

Finished it and loved it but there has to be season 2!

mightymam · 08/10/2024 23:38

O. M. G. Just watched the final episode- bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!! When's the next series starting?

mightymam · 08/10/2024 23:39

Ludwig proves that the British are the best comedy/drama writers in the world!!!

Bettyfromlondon · 09/10/2024 06:55

Have watched three episodes and quite enjoyed them but can't bear to watch any more! Why has so much of it been filmed in the dark for no good reason? Have checked it is not a problem with my television.

Didn't notice that at all 🤔

the80sweregreat · 09/10/2024 10:06

A couple of the episodes meant I had to close the curtains to see the screen properly it was so dark. It's often a problem with some dramas.
Might be my tv though tbf ( or where it's situated )

WanOban · 09/10/2024 11:50

We finished it yesterday with our 10 year old. It was excellent 👌

So well written and enjoyed by all of us.

Of course there will be a second series. I think this will be very popular …although I noticed the critics don’t like it much… said it was cheesy and obvious (but well executed).

WanOban · 09/10/2024 11:51

There’s a lot of tv shows using teal colour for substituting whiter light. Very odd. Must be a filter

Whothefuckdoesthat · 09/10/2024 12:23

We’ve got three episodes to go and really enjoying it. We worked out who the killer was in the last one and were both feeling quite smug with ourselves that we got it right.

I have got a little bit lost on the back story though, because I’ve been enjoying the murders so much. And I’ve been thinking about the practicalities of solving all those murders without being able to log on to your computer. Is no one chasing him for paperwork?
