As a larger (aka curvey) woman I find it really annoying the way larger women are matched with men who will not find them attractive. There is only one women on the programme I would describe as a petite brunette, and she is a lesbian, so not a match for Adam.

The choice to pair people up in this way leads to awkward 'confrontations' between the couples and then the 'experts' keep probing to find out why they are not clicking!

So, the guy has to say 'not my type' but if they say why then it's a big drama. I think it's quite offensive for women to have to appear to 'talk the guy into fancying them.' and it usually is that way round!

Italiangreyhound · 27/09/2024 21:44

I've misjudged Alex and Holly, I thought their attraction to each other would over come the crazy. But it won't!

Doubleraspberry · 27/09/2024 21:46

However Caspar wants to tell Emma he is not attracted to her, and the rights and wrongs of his opinions, he is now being actively unpleasant to her from what we can see.

LessonsinChemistryandLove · 27/09/2024 21:47

This season is so weird. The woman are all childish and weird and the men are all unattractive and weird! The experts really fucked this one up!

Italiangreyhound · 27/09/2024 21:54

Doubleraspberry how is Casper being actively unpleasant? I think he is upset and lashing out but Emma is being critical of him and pressuring.

Italiangreyhound · 27/09/2024 21:57

It's easy to see why K and K work well, they have lots in common. Nathan and Lacy seem to be ok, I don't think they will last but they seem fun together. I think Ross and Stacy is the surprise match that works but maybe it is just the good connection between interests/looks etc.

Italiangreyhound · 27/09/2024 22:00

am really not sure why Richelle is on the show. Not sure Orson is my cup of tea but he didn't,5 deserve to have to go to the first dinner party alone! IMHO!

Doubleraspberry · 27/09/2024 22:05

How is Caspar being unpleasant to Emma? The way he looks at her, talks to her, and talks about her. She’s not reacting well, which isn’t helping the situation, but he has been like this since the start. He’s taken his disappointment out on her.

buttonsB4 · 27/09/2024 22:31

@Italiangreyhound I hear what you're saying, but I doubt that ANY woman said she wanted to be matched with a man who has a head like an acorn, Turkey teeth and an overinflated sense of self-worth; so who do they match that guy with?

Adam has said that he thinks the experts have got it spot-on with the personality type of his wife and if he wasn't so superficial he may have realised how bloody lucky he is to be matched with her.

That's not to say I think the experts get it right, but that I think he would have been hard to pair with anyone as he's looking for "perfection" (despite being far from perfect himself).

MouseMinge · 27/09/2024 22:44

Accepting Adam to be one of the grooms on the show was unfair on any woman matched with him. Not knocking his looks - for once - but what passes for his personality.

mrsmalaprop · 27/09/2024 15:56

I do feel a tiny, weeny (really minuscule) bit of sympathy for Caspar. Sometimes you just don't fancy someone and it's hard to force it.

What I have no sympathy with, though, is his very obvious anger about it. How must it feel for someone to not only know their partner is disappointed, but that they are seething with rage about it - and not only angry with the 'experts' but angry with you - just for being you?

That's real entitlement.

It's not even that they are no guarantees on this show - it's far less hopeful than that. Stranger are paired and it works out in a vanishingly small number of cases.

It seems he thought he would order his perfect woman, she would be delivered gift wrapped and he is angry and cheated that that didn't happen.

I don't like at AT ALL

I think it needs to be taken in context. He doesn't hate Emma. As his mum and sister noted " she's one of us". They ( including Emma) all know she's fine and accepted. Caspar and her along at a Young Farmers level. The anger from Caspar is crushing disappointment he's got the exact opposite of what he wanted to fall in love with.

This seems to be the issue with Polly and Shitlid too. Clearly she's fit enough for a shag and they both say they get along well day to day. That's why Polly isn't giving up. She's not uncomfortable being fat and she knows Shitlid is full of shit.

I don’t like Caspar or Adam personally but I don’t think there wrong at the end of the day if you don’t fancy her you don’t fancy her. Adam was a dickhead for sleeping with Polly tho. But Pollys energy is just so weird, he’s told her so many times that he doesn’t fancy her, she’s always drapping herself all over him or touching him, it’s really odd and quite sad to watch.

Who do they match Adam with? No one, they must have thousands of applicants.

Casper has not been very nice, I admit, doubleraspberry but I think Emma is, also, but she hides it better. As she says, being glass half full and sugar coating it.

I don't especially like Eve but I do think Charlie is just way too full on.

I am re-watching the dinner party. It's quite sad as Eve and Charlie are in a good place and so are Holly and Alex.

Dillite2 · 28/09/2024 07:51

Sugar coating it plus rewriting what was actually said under what circumstances.

And, ya know what? Those bikinis were ugly. And no, not because of her shape. But because they were ugly and did nothing for her shape.

Dillite2 · 28/09/2024 07:52

I do dislike bikinis as swimwear in general though, on all bodies.

Paul2023 · 28/09/2024 08:16

I haven’t watched the dinner party one yet so haven’t read this whole thread.
But re-winding to where I last saw it, I feel sorry for Polly who’s very into Adam. It’s quite painful watching her coming across as desperate..

I actually think Adam is the one who is punching..He has a pudding basin haircut and not particularly handsome. Yet Polly is quite attractive I think..

Do any ladies in here think Adam is a catch ?

Exactly. And it’s the men who don’t find the women attractive who are cajoled and pushed into relationships with their matches. You don’t find the women who are matched with men they e don’t find attractive being bullied into sleeping with them by the experts.

Yumyi · 28/09/2024 08:48

That’s actually a really good point. It’s quite creepy

Does anyone else think that Paul's 'reason' for matching Emma and Ross was the most random and worst 'reason' they've ever heard?

Yep!

I mean they seemed sort of suited. Both slightly posh. Surely there are other qualities they Match on?
I mean me and the bloke match on "you like playing games and he is happy to code at sane time" which works for harmonious living!

Holly with the kids shouting that she won't be introducing Alex to her kids. I mean does he care?

And when the experts say "but this is your partner" about sone rudeness. Well they have been together a week and not from choice. Not someone I'd consider a partner, more like a cell mate!

What I just don’t understand is why the girls sit there and take, “ you’re not my type, I prefer petite brunettes, or I don’t like curvy girls”.

How can you still sit there when someone has said that to you, or cry about it. Don’t they have any self respect? Do women actually put up with this shit in real life?

Maybe it is just me. I’ve never had anything like this said to me, and I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t stand for it, especially from a man who was not exactly punching themselves.

I just don’t get why Emma and Polly just didn’t say there and then, “I know. I’m disappointed too. I prefer to date tall, beefy blokes, not puny wimps with terrible haircuts and no dress sense”.

But in real life the person would swipe right or you'd have one coffee date and move on. You wouldn't have much discussion about why not interested. No one would be that invested in it to demand a reason.
