What I just don’t understand is why the girls sit there and take, “ you’re not my type, I prefer petite brunettes, or I don’t like curvy girls”.

How can you still sit there when someone has said that to you, or cry about it. Don’t they have any self respect? Do women actually put up with this shit in real life?

Maybe it is just me. I’ve never had anything like this said to me, and I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t stand for it, especially from a man who was not exactly punching themselves.

I just don’t get why Emma and Polly just didn’t say there and then, “I know. I’m disappointed too. I prefer to date tall, beefy blokes, not puny wimps with terrible haircuts and no dress sense”.

I completely agree. It does seem like they have just put the “posh” two together, everything they mentioned about personality types didn’t really make sense & I could sense how angry Casper is about his match, which to me shows, he was in it for the right reasons, but didn’t expect to be paired with someone who looks like his twin sister.

I genuinely think they should let the couples recouple with someone else as there’s just so many unmatched pairings this year, or just let them leave. This season they’ve messed up with most pairings in my opinion.

I'm not sure who from this series Emma or Casper would like. Weirdly they'd both be OK with Ros and Thomas from last series. Ros loved her farm and Casper is a gardener- it's a match! Thomas is a bit shy, would put up with Emma. Let's lock 'em in!

Polly and Charlie seemed to be demonstrating the Octopus Grip on their partners. 🐙 🦑

Exactly - nobody’s ever said anything like that to you so you have no idea how devastating it is. It has nothing to do with self respect. It makes you feel like shit. A couple of guys did it to me when I was much younger and it was dreadful.

mrsmalaprop · 27/09/2024 15:56

I do feel a tiny, weeny (really minuscule) bit of sympathy for Caspar. Sometimes you just don't fancy someone and it's hard to force it.

What I have no sympathy with, though, is his very obvious anger about it. How must it feel for someone to not only know their partner is disappointed, but that they are seething with rage about it - and not only angry with the 'experts' but angry with you - just for being you?

That's real entitlement.

It's not even that they are no guarantees on this show - it's far less hopeful than that. Stranger are paired and it works out in a vanishingly small number of cases.

It seems he thought he would order his perfect woman, she would be delivered gift wrapped and he is angry and cheated that that didn't happen.

I don't like at AT ALL

MouseMinge · 27/09/2024 16:49

Catching up because I rarely watch on the night and prefer to watch during the day when I have time afterwards to get all the "WTAFs!" out of my system before bed time. I'm currently watching the commitement ceremony and yesterday, of course, I watched the car crash dinner party. Some thoughts.

The more of Adam's character that comes out the uglier he gets to me. Last night at dinner he was reminding me very much of Charles Laughton as Henry VII (1933 film The Private Life of Henry VIII) except Charles Laughton didn't sit there with a face like a slapped arse throughout the film. Polly frustrated me a lot though. I get it, you're crying because you're feeling humiliated but why in the name of having some respect for yourself and self esteem are you still trying to please the mofo, not properly seeing that you're so much better than that. Of course then I'm annoyed with the production team for putting too many women who seem to have real issues with self esteem on the show. Or maybe it's all a bollocks and it's nothing more than acting.

Polly again. What in the name of holy fuckery was she wearing last night. It was bloody hideous and did her precisely no favours at all. It was so horrid it made me sad.

Too much shit stirring. Alex did not say exactly what he was accused of saying. Holly made my metaphorical slappy hand very itchy. She was absolutely determined to make more of the situation than was really there. Her crying over being disrespected by someone who at that stage had never met her was manipulative and annoyed the shite out of me. That said, the shit stirring that led to her dramatics? She seems to me the sort who is always up for a fight, manipulative (as noted) and a big old shit stirrer herself. I don't think her and Alex will end up with each other.

Emma and Caspar are at least being mature adults about the cock up of putting them together and I think at some point there will be a miracle attraction which will disappear after actual or nearly having sex.

Most of the others are getting on at the moment or a little to dull to be of notice above the drama and fair play to all of them especially Lacey and Nathan who I did not see coming together like this. But, oh a big old but. Charlie and Eve.

It's an ongoing car crash, it makes me cringe to watch how fucked up it all is and is Eve taking steroids or is she just a victim of adult acne? Either way when she's not smiling she has a bit of a scary face and Charlie stop thinking you can fix this shit. You can't because you're in her face and she wants to take her face far away from anything even vaguely confrontational.

Oh forgot Orson and Richelle. For a 48 year old woman she's more of teenager than some of the younger women. Not turning up then, turning up now - unless she's about to say she wants to leave which I doubt - is pathetic.

Big up K&K whose (seemingly and I hope real) affection for each other is so lovely to see.

I suspect if they walk other than in a mutual agreement to leave they don’t get paid. It’s the only conceivable reason for Caspar and several others to hang on.

No clue about the UK but in AUS they are fined $50,000 if they walk without completing their story.

So you can leave if producers feel they have a watchable story arc but just walking and refusing to film any more isn't allowed.

So Casper and Richelle etc can leave but only once production have a story

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 27/09/2024 17:21

Australian contract apparently. You can leave when production decides you can or if you are facing harm. Otherwise there's a fine

I've changed my mind about Caspar and I find his "I'm annoyed with this situation" face really quite scary. He'll stay though because when it's not about love it's about the fifteen minutes of fame.

MouseMinge · 27/09/2024 17:26

And given the fine that might be involved, fifteen minutes of fame and money.

That’s quite grim imo. You have to be a bit unstable to go on the program in the first place so it’s not like the TV people can claim that they’ve done their duty of care and made sure everyone understands what they’re in for. Every year it is clear that people don’t understand that they could be paired with literally anyone. But I suppose that’s reality TV for you.

This logic from Holly, seems like sophistry to me:

'i will not have a man like you around my children. No siree'. "I am a mother therefore I will not give up a man like you'.

I can understand wanting to give it another week after going through the whole shebang, no problem with that, just Holly's use of her children to support any argument.

It’s giving “I HAVE A CHILD!” from Alyssa on MAFSAUS 🤣🤣

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 27/09/2024 18:26

At least it isn't 'there are three heartbeats you are marrying into' as in George and April

MouseMinge · 27/09/2024 18:33

Isn't one of Holly's children a teenager/nearly grown up? So while she won't let someone like Alex around her children, she will let her children see her being beyond an embarrassment on television, she will talk about her man giving her great sex and even if her children don't see it their friends or friends' parents will and the children will get hugely taken the piss out of/bullied at school. But yeah, Alex won't be around her children although she will continue to live with him and have sex with him when she's not crying because he's a child, and disprespectful, and, and, and ...

Molly546 · 27/09/2024 18:54

wildlygreen · 27/09/2024 09:50

Does anyone else think that Paul's 'reason' for matching Emma and Ross was the most random and worst 'reason' they've ever heard?

'Casper we obviously put you with Emma because you both have attachment styles that are all over the place and lots of other really important reasons we obviously don't have time to make up right now'. Serious look and nod from all ''experts''.

BloodyWolves · 27/09/2024 19:30

I’m convinced Holly is just there for the exposure. She seems to be making everything a drama and while I have no time for Alex he is right about her turning on the waterworks/playing up to audiences and cameras. Her demeanour totally shifted the minute she plonked her bum on the couch. I wonder if she’s going to realise she may have gone a bit too far too soon and pull it back this week.

wildlygreen · 27/09/2024 19:38

Gawd, I'd forgotten that.
