I don't know how you can dance if you're blind. Bit tearful actually. Good for him.

Put your favourite dance music on and close your eyes.. lol

SoupDragon · 28/09/2024 19:19

I noticed that wasnt smiling at all. I thought it ironic given the music.

MouseMinge · 28/09/2024 19:20

Aquarius1234 · 28/09/2024 19:15

Not a Nikita fan? I'm neutral on him.

Nope! I warmed to him a bit when he danced with Ellie Simmonds because I didn't think he'd be able for it but there's something about him that I find unlikeable. Probably unfair on him but there you go! I doubt I'll ever actively dislike any dancer as much as I disliked A J Pritchard.

LookItsMeAgain · 28/09/2024 19:20

I'm loving Chris McCausland on SCD. I mean he's doing this completely blind and he's dealing with the footsteps and props too! He's an absolute credit and so many other celebs over the years who were fully sighted couldn't do a routine like that!

Runningupthecurtains · 28/09/2024 19:20

Aquarius1234 · 28/09/2024 19:18

Chris must be a music fan.

He's a big rock/metal fan.

Appalonia · 28/09/2024 19:20

Love how funny he is!

SoupDragon · 28/09/2024 19:20

SilverShadowNight · 28/09/2024 19:18

@SoupDragon from what he has said before, he is totally blind.

He is amazing. How he does it amazes me.

That's what I thought. I just wondered from this whether he could maybe see vague shapes.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 28/09/2024 19:21

He's doing very well for week 2.

Lovely pointed toes, most men are hopeless at that!

Dianne's doing so well with him. I wonder if they have a male pro in as well sometimes so he can feel their position?

Love craig for not being patronising

Agree. Unlike Tess who is treating him like a child

SauvignonBlanche · 28/09/2024 19:21

SoupDragon · 28/09/2024 19:16

I have no idea how on earth Diane is teaching him how to do this. It's amazing.

how much can he see?

He’s been completely blind since he was 22

Agree. Unlike Tess who is treating him like a child

TBF to her, she’s like that with every contestant Grin

RosieFlamingo · 28/09/2024 19:22

Isn't it a bit early in the series for a rumba? I thought it was usually a lot later.

MouseMinge · 28/09/2024 19:22

Chris has blown me away. I expected to get a lot of enjoyment from him on the show but that was just stunning! How can he do that when he can't see?! He's bloody amazing.

Craig your 6 was unfair. That was beautifully danced and not just "beautifully danced for a blind person." Beautifully danced by any celebrity in the show.

Runningupthecurtains · 28/09/2024 19:22

Redcrayons · 28/09/2024 19:18

All the kudos to Diane, how is she is doing this?

I assume she has taken advice/tips from people who work with blind /partially sighted people to understand how to teach someone who can't see you.

littlbrowndog · 28/09/2024 19:22

Holding his own. My grandad was blind and lived with us. He could cook and navigate his way about. Only thing was he needed his food cut for him

GrouchyKiwi · 28/09/2024 19:22

More of this kind of VT.

SoupDragon · 28/09/2024 19:23

I found this:

Chris, who opened up about his journey into blindness in the Channel 4 series 'Scared of the Dark', has described how he retains the ability to "still see light and space" and possesses "an awareness of the space around me, not in terms of objects and things, but in terms of the room and whether there might be something in front of me".

It's still bloody amazing!

Aquarius1234 · 28/09/2024 19:23

I watched Chris on celebs in the dark. Like a mini big brother but in total darkness.
He was so chill, while everyone else couldn't cope of course lol

GrouchyKiwi · 28/09/2024 19:24

These outfits are awful. Every year they get worse.

TennisWithDeborah · 28/09/2024 19:24

Chris has surprised me and I think he’ll make Blackpool if he continues like this.

Runningupthecurtains · 28/09/2024 19:24

SoupDragon · 28/09/2024 19:20

That's what I thought. I just wondered from this whether he could maybe see vague shapes.

He mentioned last week that Dianne had kicked him in the head in training so if he could see at all he would have ducked.

RosieFlamingo · 28/09/2024 19:24

I don't like the rumba.

CaveMum · 28/09/2024 19:25

From my own experience with my dad, with a blind person they tend not to be physically self conscious- if Dianne says “put your foot here and your arm there” he won’t be thinking “I look like a tit!”, he’ll just do it.

the80sweregreat · 28/09/2024 19:25

I don't like the Rumba either
They usually have nice clothes too, not this 90s mash up !
He wasn't too bad though

SoupDragon · 28/09/2024 19:25

I'm not a rumba fan at all but I liked that.
