@browneyes77

I'm willing to bet none of us Brummies have Sacha's yam yam accent either.

I know some people with that accent and really love them, so although I know it's awful to a lot of people, I'm quite fond of it!

mrsmalaprop · 20/09/2024 09:06

joolsella · 20/09/2024 08:58

Sacha is the "aesthetics practitioner"

Non prizes for guessing who she practices on

I find it amazing how shallow so many of these people are.

I always wonder whether they ever have an epiphany when they see other series like Love Island where every one of the participants is aesthetically perfect, yet are still annoying, confrontational, boring or just plain horrid and get dumped or cheated on.

Looks are so little in the scheme of things.

joolsella · 20/09/2024 09:09

Well no, they dont

They watch Love Island and aspire to be those dumb asses

mrsmalaprop · 20/09/2024 09:10

I also think they don't understand sex very well. Liking the shape of someone might get the motor revving, but someone can be amazing looking and utterly shit in bed.

Once someone's blown your mind, they can become absolutely attractive to you.

I'm not saying people can't have preferences, but the habit they have of looking at someone and saying 'nah. They don't look like my acceptable template' and writing them off is totally self-defeating.

chaosmaker · 20/09/2024 09:13

Gotta say I love the yam yam accent. Raised by Wolves was brilliant.

I don't think a bowl haircut suits anyone but suppose it was a good? way to get a straight line on a home hair cut? Reminds me of monks.

All of them saying 'I hope he/she likes me instantly' are unrealistic. It takes a while to learn all the bad bits

Cluckinchicken · 20/09/2024 09:20

Friar Tuck, I find him a little feminine in the face esp around the mouth/lips for some reason (obviously without the beard)

Catlord · 20/09/2024 09:21

I'm northern but LOVE the yam yam accent and also love that northern Ross will need to factor all these yowms and am yows into his lip reading from now on!!

mrsmalaprop · 20/09/2024 09:24

My favourite yam yam fact is that there was a roundabout locally known as the 'am we island'

I asked why and it was because Toys r us is on that roundabout and 'are us' in yam yam is 'am we' as in Toys am we.

So: am we island.

It's a whole other language really. I think the story is that the mine workers developed a whole dialect so they could talk without their supervisors understanding them. I'm not sure how true that is.

I agree but I think there's a difference between being ambivalent and not having any attraction at all ( or indeed the ick).
Great sex definitely helps with bonding but you still have the other "not in bed" versions to live with too.

I like Emma but she's so much a "type" and that's as much a turn on or off as what she looks like.

chickenlettuceunderbacon · 20/09/2024 10:11

Is it wrong to admit that actually quite admire the deluded self-confidence of men like Adam. It's why men like Donald Trump and Nigel Farage end up on the world stage. Even so, Adam is not attractive in the least. I hate reducing anyone to their physicality, but when someone like him admits that he is all about looks, thinks he's really attractive and expects a 'knockout brunette', my mind boggles. In what world is attractive? He's average, and that's being incredibly generous.

I loathe this reality tv world of melted, pumped up, over-tattooed men with the personality, not to mention IQs of mannequins. It just reinforces my belief that men should not meddle with their looks and try to follow fashion/be trendy. For all his terribleness, at least Casper has succumb to ridiculous hair, tombstone teeth and all the other accoutrements such as dreadful too-tight checked suits that clearly show the other men all regard Conor McGregor as the man to be. Urgh.

Alfie however is wonderful. Emotionally intelligent to the max. If only the men on MAFS UK were even a fraction of this.

Hard agree.

One of the most depressing things I learnt internet dating is that as a whole, men are far more fixed in their ideas of what they find attractive in a woman. Should she not fit his type, he's not going to engage or be interested. This is best evidenced by those women who initiate the first message. If she isn't the recipients type, he won't respond. I do feel women are more personality led and less fixed in their ideals. So far, and at first sight, the majority of the men on seems to be in this group.

If these men are so looks-led, why are they going on a show like this? Surely the idea of MAFS is to be open to new experiences and different types of people, After all, all of them are single for various reasons, and how they've approached dating in the past obviously hasn't work. You'd think they'd get a clue, realise this and be more open. Only time will tell...

DillDanding · 20/09/2024 10:49

He's clearly a supportive friend But did he need to tell Polly exactly what Adam said? He could’ve been kinder. But then this whole show is so bloody scripted and predictable. He’s clearly got the part of ‘bitchy gay best friend’ 🥱

And that ridiculous Barbie woman who clearly doesn’t know what ‘celibate’ means. Why all that chuntering on about the guy taking the sofa? Why didn’t she offer to take it?

Catlord · 20/09/2024 10:57

I feel Lacey's friends telling her about Keiran's error was in a very different spirit to Alfie. I think Alfie was managing expectations and preventing Polly making a fool of herself or getting her hopes up. Adam had been explicitly clear to Alfie, his friend and the camera but not Polly herself who was still complimentary of Adam.

Keiran had said positive things about Lacey and was processing the day in his own way. He hadn't shown any further interest in Lacey's sister, just assumed she was the bride in pink (hardly the first) then not recovered his composure. Her family and friends were making their own assumptions and appeared to enjoy the confusion.

Catlord · 20/09/2024 11:06

What I mean is that Lacey was nervous anyway with no reason whereas Polly was optimistic not knowing that she was being shit talked behind her back. Alfie was putting Polly in the picture whereas Lacey's crowd stoked her fears and were dragging her down.

If a man was saying looks were paramount to him and he didn't like mine, I'd want to know so I would cool my expectations and take a step back. Not necessarily call the whole thing off but I'd let him decide if he wanted to come to me rather than making him feel good about himself and wondering what I'd done wrong

Yeah I agree with you about Lacey’s friends.

The way they told her I thought was mean and made Nathan’s reaction out to be over the top.

I actually sat there angry saying “Why the fuck have you just told her that like that?”

It was giving “I’m going to get my 15 minutes of fame whilst I’m in this show by causing some unnecessary drama’

Catlord · 20/09/2024 11:07

Yes Nathan sorry not Kieran!!

Pantaloons99 · 20/09/2024 11:08

Shitlid and friends do belong in a Waxwork Horror museum. I don't understand the proclivity for shredded wheat on your head.

Alfie was being a tad too honest, but the Producers would have made sure he left no detail out!

Frozenberries · 20/09/2024 11:15

yes I agree. Alfie told Polly to protect her whereas Lacey’s friends and family seemed to enjoy telling her about Nathan’s mistake.

Matt (as in married to Gemma) was the ultimate shredded wheat. I was oddly fascinated and repulsed by his hair.

@murasaki yes,Matt! 🤣🤣 Loved that wedding ceremony 😬🤯😆

When people say they like nice teeth, they mean fake veneers now. That's not 'nice teeth' that's fake shit potentially covering awful teeth (or sadly in some cases, perfectly acceptable teeth)

What's going to happen with all these veneer clad 20 and 30 somethings in 20 years time? How do you treat gum disease, or tooth decay under the veneers? Are they all going to he walking round with NHS falsies at the age of 45/50?

Yes @chickenlettuceunderbacon the tats, melted orange-ness, fillers and toombstone teeth are an utter obsession now. Its all very Emperors New Clothes.

IME most men mistake confuse confidence and arrogance. You see it on all the reality shows. They are naturally going to attract a lot of self absorbed people.

It's probably already been said, but yhe body building aesthetics family look like a wannabe Tyson Fury family.

Much musing of a Friday morn.

Missanimosity · 20/09/2024 11:39

Shitlid is the epitomy of delusion. He is actually ridiculous looking how the hell someone pays money for teeth that look like you got then from kinder egg at halloween
Barbie and family are travellers I am almost sure, hence the "traditional" family values. Polly looks like a mug, I'm sorry but her self confidence is so low that she will take all the crap he will throw her way and still she will try to make it work. I feel so sorry for her. These people should not be on the show, there is no risk assessment from a psychological point of view? It's clear that she has been really hurt and she is really fragile. Barbie s mum face scared me when it was shown up close. It looks like she is dirty as well, that self tan is dreadful.

BrightLady · 20/09/2024 11:41

Don't you have to get veneers replaced every so often? And what if one falls out when you're on holiday and you're left with a shaven tooth? And doesn't it damage the teeth structurally?

joolsella · 20/09/2024 11:42

@RainbowZebraWarrior

Totally agree

joolsella · 20/09/2024 11:43

Yes Matt

The original Shitlid barber
