I agree they’ve been going to announce the outcome of the investigation practically since they started it.
I not sure if it bodes well for either of them tbh. If it was clear cut they would have said so by now and hoped we would all move on.
Graziano was dealt with swiftly enough.

I was glad the launch show wasn't turned into a struggle session. People watch Strictly for a bit of escapism and the main show isn't the place to confront serious issues.

its just embarrassing now that no statement has been forthcoming. I assume the BBC is pretty much fucked - admit that Amanda was right and she will sue for loss of income/emotional distress. Admit Giovanni was right, and he could sue for reputational damage - how the heck do you overcome that when neither are prepared to compromise?

I think failing to deal with it earlier means theres a huge shadow over this current series.

What statement are they meant to give if the investigation isn't complete?

All of the press keep reporting that the investigation has been completed. That's what makes the whole thing so odd.

I do find it very telling that many of the press are now reporting that the investigation is set to clear Giovanni. More publications than just the Mail (who lets face it, their source clearly had a Scicilian accent!)

RenoDakota · 19/09/2024 17:25

Getting mightily turned off the whole thing by that annoying Venga bus clip on the BBC, for what feels like every minute of every day.

I still think it has been completed, but the statement needs to be thrashed out, as Amanda could be ripped to shreds (regardless of the outcome) if they're not extremely careful with the wording.

i.e. to the extreme fans -

  • Not enough evidence from Amanda = I KNEW SHE JUST COULDNT HACK IT
  • No video evidence = I KNEW SHE WAS A LIAR
  • Gio is confirmed as being a bully and x, y, z = HE'S BEEN THROWN UNDER THE BUS
etc etc etc etc
itsnotabouthepasta · 19/09/2024 19:22

You’re right @NewMaltese

i suspect that neither will be able to back down and compromise on wording hence the essential limbo

Mymanyellow · 19/09/2024 20:27

It’ll be up to their legal teams to sort the wording out between them I guess. They won’t hurry themselves if they’re being paid by the hour!
Im really not feeling it this year I have to say. Early days yet I know but I’m a bit meh.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 19/09/2024 20:40

I was listening to a podcast earlier and if I remember correctly it seem to suggest ‘nothing to see here’. I’d have to try and remember what it was and have a relisten.

Runningupthecurtains · 20/09/2024 10:11

Song/dance list has just popped up on my Facebook fed - I don't have time to type it up now as heading into a meeting. Will do it later if someone else doesn't beat me to it.

Wow poor Shayne and Wynne having to do sambas first week. Nick also likely to be in trouble? Amy seems likely to get the treacly songs.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 20/09/2024 12:08

I don't agree with Week 1 Tango. I hate a shit Tango.

I think Wynne's will be a crowd-pleaser, and probably a canny pick for week 1. Will he have perfect samba double bounce action? Nope, but I very much doubt that he'd have that on week 13 either. What you need for a good Week 1 Samba is a decent sense of rhythm and a very low capacity for embarrassment, both of which he has.

It'll be seen as a triumph by week 1 standards I reckon.

Thanks @EvilRingahBitch I was grabbing a quick coffee before heading into a meeting so didn't have time to take them all in.

I guess the plan is do the cringingly shite dance on week 1 when you can't be voted off?
I wish they would go back to starting with everyone doing either a waltz or a cha cha. That way you can get a feeling for what standard everyone is at.

Lentilweaver · 20/09/2024 15:53

Yes best to get the tough dances out of the way but not as good for the viewers, IMO.

AlexaSetATimer · 20/09/2024 16:49

Ouch there are going to be some "interesting" dances in that lot!!

Tangos, sambas and Nick doing a Jive. I may need extra Strictly snacks to survive!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 20/09/2024 17:12

While I wish they'd go back to waltz and cha, I think an early samba could be quite fun. Expectations are a bit lower in week one, so enthusiasm and energy will make up for poor technique better than later in the series!

OP posts:
xsquared · 20/09/2024 17:55

I also think it's better to have half cha cha cha a d half of tem doing Waltz as it's fairer to compare like for like.

On the other hand, I thunk getting tougher dances like samba out earlier means they are less likely to go out on bad one in later weeks.

I am surprised by the lack of traditional music choices though, even in week one.

DeloresVonCartier · 20/09/2024 17:57

Maisie Smith's week 1 samba was one of the best sambas and best week one dances ever! It's not always a flop.

Funnily, I can't even remember Maisie Smith's samba!

Kelvin Fletcher's week 1 samba was quite something. I'm not surprised that he chose to repeat it in the final!

Lentilweaver · 20/09/2024 19:17

I remember Maisie. She was fabulous. I love a ringer.

AlexaSetATimer · 20/09/2024 20:33

Oh god yes Kelvin!! That was ... impressive Wink
