@JaneJeffer and @bizzey another big Shadrach fan here. I also hate the way he's portrayed retrospectively as a bullying, wife and child beater. He was hilarious - just a drunken old fool who never passed up the chance to fancy his chances with the ladies.

I've never been a big Dingle fan apart from Shadrach and Charity.

I hate that people who won't have seen Shadrach in action will think that of him I don't know how the actors who worked with him can deliver those lines. Zak beat Cain and left him for dead but I bet that won't get a mention.

I remember him as a drunken, but harmless old man, but I don’t remember him as being vicious and cruel! Perhaps he was when younger?

They retconned his character @Bignanna he was never going to be father of the year but he wasn't vicious or violent.

They did the same kind of thing with Faith having Cain saying she hadn't bothered with them after she left Shadrach when in fact she had appeared over the years played by a couple of different actresses one of whom said she had never missed Cain's birthday, and they all got along fine.

Some retcons work when there's no evidence to the contrary but it definitely doesn't work in the case of Shadrach.
