Nice new thread for when the old one wears out.

I wonder if the big Leo drama trailed for next week means that it’s the last week before a Christmas break

BareBelliedSneetch · 13/12/2024 08:52

If the American audience helps keep neighbours going I can cope with Fanny packs 😂

HoHoHoliday · 14/12/2024 11:25

@MiddleClassProblem There wasn't a Christmas break last year, I remember watching it on Christmas Day! Not sure about this year.

Yet more Holly-related drama. This is really overkill! (I am not helped by the fact that the way the character looks reminds me far too much of the Poison Dwarf of Dallas fame (only older MNetters may know what I mean!).)

😉 but at 46 am I an older mumsnetter? 😱😳😂

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 15/12/2024 18:25

Umm, if you're 46 now, you were born the same year the Poison Dwarf came to fame! How on earth do you remember her?! I was 22 at the time (1978) and therefore count myself as an older Mumsnetter!

Arconialiving · 15/12/2024 20:02

I'm 48 & I remember the Poison Dwarf too - watches Dallas religiously with my mum as a child so she must have been in it for quite some time (assuming it's Lucy we're talking about!)

Smidge001 · 12/12/2024 22:48

Agreed. I lived in aus for several years,.and although they'd know what fanny pack meant, (as do we) they use the term bumbag. At least, anyone over 35 would do. I'm assuming they used that phrase for the (tiny) American audience.

Oi! I AM the American audience! 😂I'm fairly sure pretty much everyone in the US watching it are expats getting a little bit of home because as a stand alone show, the reboot would be a lot of "WTF?!"

Oh haha Grin. I'm glad you're getting a little dose of home.

Today's episode is so odd. It's like they made up a storyline to send Paul and Terese off somewhere together, then wrapped it all up in one episode. I was expecting another week of "on location" action.

Am I the only one who doesn't "get" Paul and Terese as a couple? They are so dysfunctional together, whenever they are a couple one or the other always has an affair. They are portrayed as soul mates but I don't see the chemistry.

I'm really missing the old days of Neighbours at the moment, when there were families and strong relationships. There were occasional affairs but these were dramatic, and marriages were otherwise powerful.
Harold and Madge, Karl and Susan, Charlene and Scott, Des and Daphne, Toadie and Sonya.

Walkingtheplank · 16/12/2024 13:46

I do see their connection. It doesn't have to be logical when they just fit together.

I'd love to know what was actually in the box as their laugh seemed so genuine. It reminded me of when Paul and Sheila were wrapped together in the fridge and couldn't stop laughing.

Have Paul and Terese cheated on each other? I remember each of them being with other people but I don’t remember them cheating on each other. Although I might have got that wrong

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 16/12/2024 14:13

Today’s episode was just such hammy acting… except for the kangaroo.

Thanks for the reminder about Paul and Sheila in the cling film. That was hilarious. I loved their relationship and 'money bags' was a perfect name for her to use on him.

I definitely see the chemistry with Paul and Therese, and am really glad they've got back together. But I have to say, I thought the episode today really was a bit crap! I'd have preferred them to have just got back together when sitting outside by the fire without the chit chat about it not working. Or just had therese go and find him on the couch and bring him back into the bed coz she couldn't sleep without him.

The flash back to them meeting seemed odd, as I thought Paul and Therese already knew each other (off screen) when she worked for Lassiters in Broome or somewhere before she got transferred to Melbourne.

Smidge001 · 16/12/2024 14:57

Oh, as for the box, my lovely clean mind is assuming massage oil or something Grin

suburburban · 16/12/2024 15:02

They seem to have got lucky with the pyjamas and dressing gowns as they didn't appear to have anything with them

Walkingtheplank · 16/12/2024 15:30

I thought it was something a bit naughty which surprised the actors and made them laugh.

Starburst8 · 16/12/2024 16:10

Today's episode.... I just wanna know how Paul did that scrambling with his fake leg.

ArabellaFishwife · 16/12/2024 16:19

Same thought occurred to me, @Starburst8 . I thought he seemed, if you'll forgive the choice of adjective, remarkably limber.

😂😂😂

I think he forgets some times, he did a little limb at the gate 🤷🏻‍♀️

EBearhug · 16/12/2024 18:11

That was surprisingly free of death and perilous accidents, for a Neighbours trip to the Bush.

ImNotThereAmI · 16/12/2024 18:18

Wow I’d not expected Terese and Paul to look so young in that flashback of when they first met!!

I thought that too. I was a bit shocked.

apart from today's episode I think they do have chemistry.

I do wonder if he walks with a limp out of character as he’s been doing it so long. Was it something that happened in series 2? He was in hospital.

HoHoHoliday · 16/12/2024 22:28

@Rummikub He fell of a cliff and broke his leg. It got infected so then it was amputated.
