Can brain tumours make you have a seizure like Moira just had?

Jitterybugs · 27/08/2024 19:57

Nobody has witnessed the seizure and will probably find her unconscious and smelling of the earlier alcohol and assume she’s drunk.

Unfortunately yes

Then maybe Emmerdale are going down the brain tumour route again

Imagine what they could have done with £10'000 if they weren't stupid?

They handed over 10k to Jai. No receipt or evidence. What's to stop Jai saying they haven't paid. They were all a bunch of twats tonight. The Rose thing was a bit of an anti climax aswell.

I hope Moira is epilepsy and not another brain tumour. She did keep zoning out before and it looked like petit mal seizures. I don't know if it affects your personality though.

It does seem like they’re heading into another brain tumour story. Certain types of brain tumours can cause some of the behaviour Moira has displayed. Mood swings, forgetfulness, irritability, loss of inhibitions (watch out Nate 😳)

I hope they don’t kill off Moira. I like her character. Hopefully if it’s a tumour it’ll be benign, she’ll have surgery, 2 days on a ventilator in that wonderful Hotten General and be back to running the farm the next day. Cain will have some apologising to do when it’s revealed she’s ill .

But we had that with Brenda unless the writers think we forgot so doing the storyline again with Moira in a different part of the brain. Oh, she’ll go into Hotten General and bounce back the same day probably, it’s a very good hospital for that!

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 28/08/2024 09:54

It seems odd to have another brain tumor storyline.

Wishimaywishimight · 28/08/2024 10:02

I say this every time a new illness arises but I really think I might bin Emmerdale off if it's another serious / life threatening illness, there's just too much misery and sadness to be able to call this 'entertainment'.

JaneJeffer · 28/08/2024 11:01

They already did a brain aneurism story with Cain as well.

Did they? I don’t remember that. Maybe @TheFormidableMrsC will be right and it’ll be an epilepsy storyline instead of another brain tumour/brain aneurysm storyline

RaraRachael · 28/08/2024 11:25

Hopefully if Moira has got a brain tumour, it will be benign and, after an overnight stay in 'otten General, she'll be back to humphing bales around and sorting out the as yet invisible bull.

On the plus side, we have had no tom thus far but on the minus side, more of Caleb['s stupid shenanigans. They obviously don't have CCTV at the yard so Caleb was able to nip in and pour whatever in the tank in broad daylight.

He and Tom must be sharing the invisibility cloak.

@JewelleryCat I am aware of the no spoiler rules here. I read something that actually didn't give anything away about Moira's illness but did have a weird "support" footnote by the publication that suggested what it was. Weird thing to do.

I didn’t say you gave a spoiler away. I thought we were all speculating about what happened to her since we have been doing since she started being weird and off from bipolar, alcoholism to now a brain tumour and epilepsy. I think I even speculated epilepsy yesterday with the seizure. Not seen the support footnote but yes, that is weird

TheFormidableMrsC · 28/08/2024 14:54

@JewelleryCat Oh no! I didn't mean it like that! I meant that I was worried I was going to be spoilering 🤣🙈. I guess we will find out soon enough but I'm pretty certain now!

JaneJeffer · 28/08/2024 14:59

I'm laughing at all the confusion. More entertaining than the actual programme Grin

Oh no that looked like Moira was having a fit or a seizure...hope they don't mess with her as she is one of the few good ones.

The whole Rose thing as told by Dawn was utter rubbish...and how could they afford to live in Jai's old gaff ...I know they took the pay off money for the rent upfront but still the running of that big house etc...going from being cxxx lodgers at Kim's to living in big home on what...what is Billy's job I've forgotten if it is the odd [T session what won'T keep a family of 5 and a big home...

Hey ho at least no Belle and Tom...

Glad to entertain you 😁

Am I a saddo if I say I was actually quite impressed at that seizure scene

Moira looked very convincing there ..
who can tell that I'm a nurse 🤭

Emmerdale release so much in advance now probably because nothing they come up with is going to surprise anyone anyway so they might as well just tell us before it happens!

I always feel sorry for actors doing seizure scenes because I think it must be really embarrassing to do. Presumably if you were really having a seizure you wouldn't be aware of what was happening?

So it can just happen like that? The ears ringing, go straight backwards and have a seizure?

Soditsally · 28/08/2024 18:25

Yes , it looked real
There can be a vacant moment , rigidity , thrashing movements , sometimes gurgling noises , jaw clenching and hyperflexion
Lots of different types but she did that brief scene very well

As a child I saw somebody having an epileptic fit at a tube station and it was terrifying. The poor man. People were trying to hold him down 🫤
