Bake off 2024 ... when will there be buns in the oven?

can we expect the same presenting/ judging line up as last year?
Do we think the Hollywood handshake will return?

I love how Sumayah tells Alison/Noel to go away when they're trying to talk to her when she's at a crucial part of a process. 🌹

I don't like Noel at all. He makes my skin creep. No idea why.
I can't bear Alison. I hate her grubby jokes over-friendliness which seems completely fake to me- not just on Bake-Off.

I LOVE Alison so so much! I feel the opposite to you, like her laughter is so warm and genuine.

I don't mind Noel but can't stand Alison. To me she seems totally fake - fake laugh, fake friendliness with all that "babe" and "bab".

I dislike when Alison says "get set...BYAYK!".
I know IABU but it just gives me the ick.

All this talk of disliking people due to their voice or accent is awful isn't it?

Noel is that kid at school who was considered kind of weird and got bullied but then became a goth at 6th form college, bought a smoking jacket, 10 hole DMs and all his music on vinyl ( Dead Kennedys) and so became super cool and was now considered “ so alternative” rather then “ the weird kid” and his jokes about being married to a goat now worked as everyone was smoking dope …… so I kind of like him on that basis. I feel like he turned it around at some point.

@AnImaginaryCat I don't dislike Alison as a person, or her accent in general, or even how she usually says Bake. It's just that sometimes she says it that weird way and I don't like that. It feels affected and like she's putting on a fake exaggerated Jamaican accent just for that word sometimes.

And if it was just his living his best alternative life, it would be fine. He had a great jumper on this week. Who doesn't love a goth in the closet in the IT department? But he goes out of his way to distract the contestants, particularly when they are concentrating on doing something difficult. It's frankly bullying.

Yes he’s like a large irritating fly that keeps landing on your baking and won’t go away. He’s not even funny. Oh for the Mel and Sue days.

I really like Noel and Alison.

It's literally his job! I find the humourous scenes at the start tedious and it would be annoying as hell to have him faffing around while you were trying to bake, but that's the format. If you want to bake in peace, stay home and bake in your own kitchen. If you want a serious baking programme with no banter, watch a different cookery programme - there are many of them.and a lot of them are frankly quite dull.

He has actually grown on me over his time in the tent. He does seem to engage with the bakers now whereas him and Matt together were very much more interested in themselves than the bakers.

Both of them are irritating in their own special ways.

I’m not saying I’m Bake-off standard but if I were to appear on the show as a contestant, I’d get seriously narked at them both appearing and making stupid comments. That’s probably the reason they have those contestants as they can cope with the presenters. I’d be a gibbering wreck though, especially when things went wrong!

The Dutch man (forget his name, is it Johannes?) is starting to piss me off even though he can bake.

I like the light hearted side to Bake Off. I'd hate it to be a serious baking show. It's not really a cookery programme and never has been.

I like Noel and Alison. I was surprised how much I liked Alison on Bake Off right from the start. I also really like the current group of contestants. Can't choose a winner but also can't choose a favourite.

Christiaan. His accent seems to change every episode. I'm oddly fascinated by this.

Me too! Alison really seems to suit the Bake Off show in a way she really doesn't suit some others (eg For the Love of Dogs).

And yes to lighthearted and silly. I love it and it's why I watch it.
