Anyone else also watching this?
It’s a little gem of a drama, very unique, and there are multi series) and so is the perfect place to avoid the Olympics/life in general!

@Fifiesta I took @KathrynWheel "s advice and I'm watching the rest on Dailymotion. Just type that in the browser.and Seaside Hotel Season number and episode. The subtitles are the same. I've just started Season 9. What a gem of a series. Nothing is getting done in this house...

Just came back to this thread to say uf you have Amazon Prime, you can watch series 7, 8 and 9 on Viaplay on there. (Seven days free trial, then £4.99 a month rolling subscription).

Am I the only one really loving all the hats? So pretty!

MarkWithaC · 09/09/2024 16:11

This is a good reminder; it's on my watchlist but I keep forgetting about it. I love a dark Scandi series but need a sunny one too.
If anyone else needs one, the Sommerdahl Murders (Acorn TV) is quite summery and pretty too.

@SeatonCarew thank you for the tip on where to watch - will definitely do a free trial/membership to watch the next series(s)

You're welcome, but I had to resort to @KathrynWheel 's tip to use Dailymotion for series 9 - it's showing on Viaplay, but not actually there yet when you click on it. Enjoy - we finished series 9 last night, and I'm bereft! 🤣

I watched Seasons 7-9 on my phone on www.dailymotion.com

Another big thank you @KathrynWheel. About to start series 9 and we're also going to be distraught when we reach the end.

Djangor3725 · 15/09/2024 13:42

Love this series. Wish I could wear Helene's clothes - love the costumes generally and the food.

Cazziebo · 21/10/2024 21:32

Thank you for posting this- I'm absolutely loving it. Such a gentle, engaging, beautifully shot series! Makes me want to visit Skagen....

fussychica · 01/12/2024 21:47

Looks like Season 10 is now on dailymotion.com. We're still on Channel 4 but about to come to the end so will swap over to dailymotion unless Channel 4 drops more series.

fussychica · 01/12/2024 23:09

Fantastic news, just did a bit of digging and Channel 4 will be showing Season 7 and 8 from Fri 13th Dec. Yay!

Only watched the first two eps of Season 1 so far.
I like the setting, the clobber, the 'upstairs downstairs' stuff etc, but I'm finding the male chauvinism/male-centred perspective really irritating! Maybe you're meant to, but I'm shouting at the telly when the owner shouts and blusters boorishly yet again, or when the existing staff member blames the new one for taking the job of server, even though it was the owner who insisted on it (because he wanted the guests to see her pretty face Angry)
I feel like this is presented without comment and you're meant to just accept it, which I find hard. Isn't Denmark meant to be pretty progressive in terms of sex equality?

You need to give it time for the storyline to develop, it's very clever. Not sure how progressive Denmark was in the 1920s.

Yes, I agree one usually needs a few episodes to get into something.
Totally agree about 1920s attitudes; I think I just mean that often modern dramas set in the past reflect the period's mores while tipping the wink to show the audience that they don't necessarily agree with them, and this didn't seem to have any sort of critical element. But, again, I know I need to watch more.

I'm very envious of you MarkWithaC that you are only at the start of Season 1. I will be really sad when I reach the last episode of Season 10. I've enjoyed it so much.
I was the same with Shtisel which I also loved watching

I love the feeling of having loads of episodes ahead of me (and books too, when I find an author I love).
I keep hearing good things about Shtisel. I think I've missed it on Netflix but I might try to find it elsewhere.

sonnybeaudelaire · 11/12/2024 07:10

Just seen that Channel 4 will be streaming series 7 & 8 from this weekend - that is my Sunday sorted!

Where did you watch season 10? I can't find it anywhere

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 12/12/2024 20:36

If you can use a VPN a subscription to tv2play is 50 kr a month. That's a bit more than 5 pounds. S10 is there.

MovingCrib · 12/12/2024 20:41

So glad I've found others who love this. I'm learning a bit of Danish and was watching Danish crime programmes but they were too chilling so I opted for Seaside Hotel. I'm hooked! I thought it would be completely twee but I love it.

Herr Weyse is a great character - so funny.

(And I like all the food shots too!)

OllyBJolly · 12/12/2024 21:27

Also learning Danish, @MovingCrib ! Started with Duolingo to prepare for a family trip to Legoland and kept at it as I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Can't yet watch Badehotellet without subtitles but I can glance away now and again and pick up what's going on.

Just love it. On series 6. Thanks for posting, OP - you have brightened a dreary Autumn and brought joy to a chilly December!

OllyBJolly · 08/01/2025 20:02

That's me got to the end of Season 8 and have come back to this thread to find out how to find 9 & 10. Enjoyed it so much!

I'm quite amazed at how my opinion of the Amanda character has changed. She was quite unlikeable in the early season and then became quite fun. Now she's sensible hotel manager and not only has she played each part excellently - she's changed her look to match!

It is such an engaging series. Even the unlikeable characters (eg Molin and Madsen) are good to watch!

PS - So much smoking!

fussychica · 10/01/2025 15:42

Bit of a spoiler there OllyBJolly for those of us still on earlier series.
