UK pace please, no spoilers please!

Looking forward to this one with the new judges. Surprised at how late we're getting it in the UK though.

I was wondering if she maybe couldn't get a visa or something like that and didn't want to say.

One of my favourites is in the semi final. Don't think they'll win though.

Davros · 16/10/2024 10:55

I might warm to Harry if he'd take off his stupid hat. At the beginning, at least half of the blokes had back-to-front-hatitis

DollopOfFun · 16/10/2024 21:56

Watching the latest episode now.

I used to have the serious horn for Jean-Christophe, and had the pleasure of watching him doing a cookery demo in the flesh about 15 years ago. He was all long haired and Gallic, shruggily chopping 'is 'erbs.

Must admit, seeing him in this programme has dulled the horn somewhat! He's sweet, but seems a bit baffled most of the time.

BuzzieLittleBee · 17/10/2024 10:30

I'm sad it's nearly over. I wonder why they've dropped the 'cook against a well known chef for the chance of an immunity pin' challenge. I have missed Shannon (was that his name?) this series - the lovely chef who used to come along and mentor those tasks. He was my top tip for a replacement judge, so it's sad to see he hasn't featured at all this year.

I was surprised at the pressure test elimination this week - 3 quite contrasting cooks left now.

Davros · 17/10/2024 11:03

I'd like lots more of the blind tastings etc.

Shannon Bennett? I'm disappointed not to have seen him this series too.

I've enjoyed this series but sometimes when the judges are talking to the contestants think that they're playing mind games. If the cook is underway what's the point of suggesting that they're doing it wrong. They probably don't have time to change and may simply start to doubt themselves.

Ti7ch · 17/10/2024 16:55

Has anyone seen that the show Mel is doing, is airing on Monday on W? It's MasterChef Australia: Dessert Masters

Happy with final 2. I prefer pezza to win overall. He seems more steady.
I don't remember any of them in a few weeks time!

GrandTheftWalrus · 18/10/2024 01:45

Looking forward to watching it tomorrow but I wish they'd go back to the points instead of a pressure test.

StiggyZardust · 18/10/2024 10:47

The wrong person won ☹️

I'm about to unwatch thread so I don't get it spoiled.

burnoutbabe · 18/10/2024 21:14

I was very disappointed/sad about the ending.

Davros · 18/10/2024 22:53

Why don't have the final on U ?

Davros · 18/10/2024 23:11

I take it back. It wasn't in the list of episodes but the semi final has automatically gone on to the next (final) episode.
I'm disappointed about the female finalist, it should have been the other one (trying to avoid spoilers). I think I already know she will win, she's a favourite, just like that Larissa was a few years ago, they even made an extra space in the final for her.

GrandTheftWalrus · 19/10/2024 01:04

Not happy with that at all. Should never have won.

BigFatLiar · 19/10/2024 08:49

I'm not keen on the format of the final now. Having a major part of it being replicating a chefs dish doesn't really show their individual skills and creativity.

BuzzieLittleBee · 19/10/2024 09:41

I agree. A pressure test in the final is ridiculous.

I'd have been happy for any of the final 3 to win, but I feel sad for the losing finalist to have lost the way they did.

Davros · 19/10/2024 10:04

I agree about the "copying a chef's dish", or whatever it's called. I don't like them in the general programme and definitely not in the final. It's just a way to shoehorn in celeb chefs. I am gutted by the winner, she should not have even been in the final. Obvious favouritism

AnneShirleysNewDress · 19/10/2024 10:30

The winner was definitely the judges favourite so would likely have won anyway but was gutted how the final played out for the other contestant.

BuzzieLittleBee · 19/10/2024 11:16

Whilst it was sad how the last task played out, the damage was done in the first task. The puree was risky, and to do something you've never done before was a bit daft. A 3 point gap was a lot to overturn. I think the winner's pressure test was probably undermarked deliberately to make it look closer than it was.

OnlyWhenILaugh · 19/10/2024 11:20

I have enjoyed the series but agree the final should not include a pressure test.

Of the two dishes in the first part I know which I'd have preferred to eat and it wasn't the winners.

Same! I was gutted. If judges have to spit something out then you aren't a winner end of.

burnoutbabe · 19/10/2024 15:34

It did seem so arbitrary-he failed one component which due to its design could not be served at all unless perfect /blown up.

Very different to say a sauce that was too runny /thick which you can serve but doesn't taste right -or a massively thick tart case per the semi final!
