Simohn's analogies are so crap. i remember him saying Brooke was too innocent, too like a fairy liquid advert. I couldn't disagree more. She reminds me of the mum in a made for tv movie in the late 80s - a single mum who's suffered physical abuse and drives one of those long american cars with wood up the side and lives in a hick down in flyover state etc.

I watch AI when I remember - it's one of my guiltier pleasures. This year:

hate Carly's big honking voice and think it's bizarre how her accent has shifted from Canadian to pure Irish the longer she's stayed in the competition;

shocked that Michael has gone - he's been a bit hit and miss but his good performances have been amazing;

David Archuletta = BORING BORING BORING

I was a bit sad that Alexandrea or whatever her name was got booted out so early, she was much more interesting than a lot of the blondealikes who are left in. It always happens though - anyone remember Hayley Scarnato clinging on week after week while the great singers got voted out around her?

Dear god, is it a Mariah themed show then? Her stuff doesn't exactly lend itself to interpretation, does it?

It's our Saturday night guilty pleasure, sitting down to watch American Idol and bitching about the performances, the judges, Ryan, etc etc.

Can't decide between David Cook, Brooke and Jason. Am furious that Michael has gone - it should have Sayesha.

On reflection, I think it should be David to win (Cook, not the annoying 10 year old one).

humph. hate mariah and i bet syesha does a mediocre copycat as she does each week anyway.

I think Carly is fab and although I usually agree with the cowell, I feel he's being a little harsh on her.

Am ashamed to say I'm one of the few who like Mariah but seem to have missed the live show for this week and caught tonights show so I know whos gone but haven't heard the singing.Will it be repeated at any point? and can someone remind me which nights it's on in future?

ash it's on again at least twice over the weekend. may be sat morning and sun teatime, but double check. it's new on itv2 at 8 on thurs and 9 on fri.
