We started to follow Our Girl back in 2014 and although there will be no further series, we do revisit from time to time. We have watched all seven series of Soldier Soldier to keep up our military terminology and have galloped through the three series of of The Musketeers. There was a definite connection between Our Girl and The Musketeers in the delightful form of Luke Pasqualino. We are currently part way through series 8 of Spooks. Having recently witnessed the demise of Adam Carter in the last series, he has been replaced by Lucas North.

We are in the final stages of series 9. We start series 10 very soon.

Evening everyone. Really looking forward to a new series tonight and an old favourite, too!

Ilovelblue · 30/10/2024 20:58

I'm here, ready and waiting. Never watched Downton since it finished so I wonder how much I will remember? That first view you see with the cedar of Lebanon in the foreground is exactly how it is when you drive up there.

I am looking forward to this as I too have not watched it for a long. Be surprising what one has forgotten

Rhubarb01 · 30/10/2024 21:00

Pressing play...now!

Ilovelblue · 30/10/2024 21:01

Just looking at the credits, so many of the actors on there were made famous by Downton. I know many of them had been around for some time, but they really made it in Downton.

I'm raising my coffee cup to Dame Maggie Smith.

Gosh, doesn't it look beautiful. The ominous morse tapping and then the train.

Ilovelblue · 30/10/2024 21:02

That poor girl, What a skivvy she is. Is she called Daisy?

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 30/10/2024 21:03

Six o'clock doesn't sound too bad, particularly as poor Daisy was up before them. So much to do so early in the day.

Ilovelblue · 30/10/2024 21:03

Ooooh I forgot, but Thomas Barrow the footman is the brother of somebody I used to work with.

Magi84 · 30/10/2024 21:04

Yes lots of activity for one set of residents anyway

Rhubarb01 · 30/10/2024 21:04

Such a great scene setter, showing all the house up and at work.

Rhubarb01 · 30/10/2024 21:05

The first of the aristocrats is up.

Ilovelblue · 30/10/2024 21:05

Imagine having your newspaper ironed before you read it. Haha.

Yes, all those years of it arriving damp and dog-bitten through the letterbox Grin

Rhubarb01 · 30/10/2024 21:08

Gosh, doesn't his lordship have a sense of social justice...its a little bit woke.

Magi84 · 30/10/2024 21:08

Good of his Lordship to think of below decksd

Rhubarb01 · 30/10/2024 21:09

Interesting how Lady Grantham reads The Daily Sketch.

Rhubarb01 · 30/10/2024 21:11

We're getting the explaining bit here from the Lady's Maid, just in case we don't understand how inheritance works. Ah...the first meeting of Anna and Mr Bates!

Rhubarb01 · 30/10/2024 21:11

Thomas looks just thrilled at the prospect of Mr Bates taking over.

Rhubarb01 · 30/10/2024 21:13

Good old Mary, thinking of herself at such a time.

Magi84 · 30/10/2024 21:14

Am remembering I didn't like Miss O'brien and nothing has changed in my opinion

Rhubarb01 · 30/10/2024 21:15

So, rather like Pride and Prejudice, the estate is entailed away from the female line, so who will inherit now?

Rhubarb01 · 30/10/2024 21:16

Carson is just so great at giving his views without saying anything directly Grin
