Review
Has anyone else seen this?
Wow, what an unbelievable story, can't quite believe I've missed it on the news.
Anyone with an interest in personality disorders and true crime will love this.

Imposter: The Man Who Came Back from the Dead review – the absolute zenith of true-crime TV

Fascinating and terrifying, this tale of a man who woke from a Covid coma in Glasgow accused of being a serial sex offender on the FBI’s most wanted list is the most bizarre, mind-boggling true-crime series yet

Non of it made any sense. Not at all. It was like a black comedy.

The last scene in court with the names 😂😂

MrsDTucker · 03/06/2024 22:06

Also that poodle looked like a right little fu**er!!

Laughingravy · 07/06/2024 10:15

Just binged this. I was familiar with the story through TV news updates Fascinating and weird but so many unanswered questions.

Why no mention of DNA - though the finger prints, tattoos and looking exactly the same are a slam dunk really. Nothing about checking his claimed Irish background, which wouldn't have held up to scrutiny. How did he enter the UK and marry legitimately? How were they supporting themselves? There was mention he worked as a professor at a university - if so how?. I've no idea what to make of Miranda, though that recording near the end does strongly suggest she's in on it all.

The interview with the immigration lawyer was interesting, Rossi's need for attention may very well have been a big part in his undoing.

You never get all the answers in cases like this but this one did leave quite a few unanswered. His court case is going to be a doozy.

His court case is going to be a doozy.

I'll definitely be watching the documentary on that!

MrsBeachBum · 07/06/2024 23:16

I just finished watching this. I don’t think Miranda has ever said no to him and they’re very similar personality wise. She kept referring to him as ‘my husband’ rather than using his name, and said ‘we’re mr and Mrs’.

I got the impression she’s a very lonely person who’s desperately clinging onto the idea of being in a happy marriage with someone who loves her. She probably has very few close friends/relatives, if any. She’s living in denial and may have a personality disorder too.

I hope he’s jailed for a very long time as he’s clearly very dangerous and has a negative impact on everyone he comes into contact with.

I thought his DNA was matched to the girl in the college?

Laughingravy · 12/06/2024 09:39

@Screamingabdabz 'I thought his DNA was matched to the girl in the college?'
I might have missed that. I thought someone queried why they hadn't done a test as they had samples from his college victim. If he was a match then no one seems to have made much of it in the programme - unlike the tattoos.
He could try to cook up some BS about the tattoos, even the finger prints but the DNA is a slam dunk.
Though, like your typical conspiracy theorist, he's sure to have an explanation for why he matches a rapist.

Arthur's accent is a huge red flag in itself

Never heard an Irish nor Englishman sound like that

It's suspiciously like an American putting it on

pinkyspromises · 15/06/2024 07:45

I wonder if he ever revealed his entire arm or just the forearm?

pinkyspromises · 15/06/2024 08:10

With regard to DNA also...he must have a living relative with whom they could compare DND ...surely a sibling? Is his Mother alive?

MrsDTucker · 15/06/2024 08:36

That's because it is 😂😂😂

Perhaps Dick Van Dyke will be called to give evidence 🤣

I wonder if Miranda Knight is her real name?

MrsDTucker · 15/06/2024 09:36

@pinkyspromises

You would think when he was in pain
(Hospital) / anger (Prison) his accent would slip.

Wonder if he keeps it up to other prisoners

MrsDTucker · 15/06/2024 09:48

Also I wonder if the nhs noticed him in his wheel chair and thought why is he in it if he doesn't need it.

Garlicked · 15/06/2024 09:55

Real enough. Miranda Mary Knight's birth was registered in Bristol, 1980, to a mother named L. Clark.

Can't find marriage records with a free subscription! They apparently married in Cardiff (Glamorgan) if anybody wants to use their subscription. Journalists will have done this already, I just can't be bothered to trawl through the many articles.

I did read somewhere or maybe it was on the podcast 'I am Not Nicholas' that when he was in prison when he lost it and was ranting it was in an American accent.

Blackcats7 · 15/06/2024 10:31

There are so many clues in plain sight to his mad delusions. One of them being his choice of the name Arthur to go with Knight.
I really hope he gets exactly what he deserves and wish that Miranda could be prosecuted to for lying and deception. What she has done goes beyond a defence of coercive control imo.

Tinkerbot · 15/06/2024 22:25

He would probably have spun her some story about him needing to escape the clutches of an evil wife/ crooked work colleague / mad nutter so she was willing to help fake his death.
But weird that she denies she helped when it is obviously her voice on the tape.
But what did he live on all the time - there's no mention of him working. He must have continually extorted money.

Odd that the American lawyer (?and his 8 children) chose to move to Scotland. Perhaps they didn't move and he retired. I wouldn't think you can renovate a castle at a distance.

MrBigsCat · 18/06/2024 17:44

Just watching this now. Totally crazy
why hasn’t Miranda had some kind of charge for helping to fake his death?

pinkyspromises · 23/06/2024 07:52

Kevin knight is her brother . Lives in Bristol

Laughingravy · 09/02/2025 12:48

UPDATE:
Rather than start a new thread and in the hope we eventually get another episode of this.

He finally admitted he wasn't an Irish orphan called Arthur Knight but Nicholas Ross/Nicholas Alahverdian in court last October. Of course he had a reason; he was fleeing after his life was threatened by elected officials in Rhode Island. He refused to name them in open court.
Still with a mask and a wheelchair and denying all charges of course. As of January he was still to go on trial for two counts of rape in Utah. His legal team having been unable to reach a plea deal.

Goodness knows what his 'wife' here makes of it all. She's certainly been made to look foolish.
