I have just seen this in the newspaper. I am so excited, brand new host too.

Pascha did really well this week I liked most of her stuff. The black dress was amazing.

don seemed like a nice bloke but his stuff has been consistently crap so I think his exit was deserved.

I think the time scales are a bit short and even some professionals may find it difficult to produce anything decent in that time frame :(

my vote is Marcus to leave next week :( I think he’s really clinging on now

The made to measure were all shocking. Half of them didn’t seem to fit. Pasha’s was the only one that fitted. The red and silver creation looked dreadful. It didn’t fit.

I notice that Pasha had an array of interesting badges on her jacket during the interview. I wonder if they had any meaning. One looked like suffragette colours.

The badge looks very similar to this?

Didn't like any of the made to measures ! Luke's was hideous, I'm sure in previous series the calibre has been much higher at this stage of the competition.

Aww what a gentleman Don is. Sad to see him go but none of the challenges have suited an actual tailor IMO, had he entered in past seasons he may well have gone further.

Baffled by the indulgent mums/wives letting their actual wedding dresses bring sacrificed 😱

If I was Luke’s mum I’d be a bit aghast at that pink and silver monstrosity.

CrushingOnRubies · 11/06/2024 21:17

The bags don't look all that plump

Lots of uneven flap bottoms

Happens to the best of us with age and childbirth.

Wolfcub · 11/06/2024 21:54

Suzy's looks odd. The middle tier is sticking out in a weird way

Bust darts are wonky, too.

ThreeWordHarpy · 11/06/2024 22:33

That looked like the one. Rather striking.

Alex's is very Villanelle

Yes, I think if she'd dyed it pink she would have won that!
I did love the winner though.

I agree with your post both in relation to Don and the sacrificed wedding dresses.
Re said wedding dresses neither Marcus or Luke's transformations were worth wrecking their loved ones wedding dresses for. Sad

I loved the garment of the week and also love the oversized Cos type dresses Ailsa and Suzy wear.

I think Pasha will win.
She is consistently good.

Citrusandginger · 12/06/2024 07:43

I was just astonished that Luke's made to measure was praised. It looked hideous to me.

I'm starting to think it's being edited to try to make Pasha less obviously the run away winner.

I agree.

Luke's transformation was awful.

I thoroughly enjoyed tonight's episode. I think Esme has properly warmed to Kiell (and rightly so).

I was surprised how much they struggled with the bags but I've never tried that fabric 'sandwich' technique so presumably it's v tricky.

I loved and really want Georgie’s tablecloth shirt. Was last week's challenge inspired by her clothes or is this just a general trend that's passed me by?

I loved Suzy and Alex’s final dresses - they weren't anything you could buy off the rack but they were beautiful, and honestly I'm really enjoying clothes that are designed to be fun and striking rather than traditionally flattering.

I think Don has been lucky to make it this far; sewing at speed is clearly not his forte, but he seems like a lovely man. Very notable that there were a lot of tears at his exit, unlike last week!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 12/06/2024 09:03

Those bags didn't look very attractive, not even the example one. I also wonder how well they would stand up to actually carrying stuff in them. I can tolerate bags that look gorgeous but you have to be careful with and just carry your phone and a lipstick to a wedding or something, or a bag that is a bit clunky but very functional, but that particular bag was the worst of both IMO.

deeahgwitch · 12/06/2024 09:06

I too loved Suzy's and Alex's dresses in the wedding dress transformations.
Particularly Alex's dress. Beautiful.

I think the only one that really worked was Pascha's. Having the bigger hearts made the design I thought.

I use a lot of repurposed fabrics like sheets and duvets but I've never used a table cloth (and there weren't any in my go-to charity warehouse yesterday!) They can be great sources of unique fabric when there are no haberdashery shops nearby.

There's a MNer (KatyMac) who makes amazing things out of repurposed fabrics.

I think once Marcus has gone all my "bottom rung" sewers will have gone. Don has rescued himself with the M2M challenge in previous weeks but he was never on my list of finalists.

His farewell was very different wasn't it? There were tears!

There was no stiffening in them, for a start. A few tiny scraps of fabric sandwiched between two pieces of organza would have no structure whatsoever. I can’t imagine they’d be functional at all as bags.

Halsall · 12/06/2024 11:11

I think the question with the oversized indie-pattern style dresses is when they cross the line from 'unfitted and cool' to 'voluminous sack' - and they need to be well-sewn despite everything. Suzy's very roomy dress last night didn’t sit properly at all at the back of her neck - it gaped in every shot - and there was something peculiar happening with the gathered fabric right at the point right where it curved round to the top of her shoulder; it looked frayed and lumpy, although they never focused in quite enough to show properly. I get that she's evangelical about reusing duvet covers etc and wants to get the message across that anyone can have a go at sewing, which is great, but the trajectory of the series so far is that nobody - not even Pascha - is nearly as grounded in the basics as in previous years, when not finishing the final garment was an exception rather than the rule.

(Having said that, the yellow gingham Birgitta Helmersson no-waste dress Georgie wore in the first programme was lovely, unfitted but just right, even for her slim frame)

mydogisthebest · 12/06/2024 12:35

The only dress I liked was Pascha's. Georgie's dress looked like a nightie. I didn't like the garment of the week very much. A baggy "dress" over basically a bra and knickers. Maybe I am just old (and old fashioned) but I have never been to a party where any woman wore literally a bra and knickers.

LadyAddle · 12/06/2024 14:02

I love the historical information bits with Amber Butchart - I'm torn between listening to what she's saying and admiring her style. She looks absolute perfection.

I have been to a party when one woman wore a see-through dress with neither bra nor knickers. It was a very trendy party (no idea why I was there tbh) in the mid 90s and the same or similar dress dress had been recently seen on a celeb on a red carpet.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 12/06/2024 14:59

Suzy's dress (the one she was wearing, not the challenge one) would drive me mad; I wouldn't be able to stand it constantly slipping around the neck and off the shoulder.

I don't always like RRR week, but thought this was quite a good one. I agree I wouldn't let anybody use my wedding dress for it though!
