Jonathan Cake also played Oswald Mosley on Channel 4 many moons ago. From memory, it was the first time the word “cunt” was used on British TV.

I obsessively watched Ally McBeal and Desperate Housewives and can’t remember either Jonathan or his wife! I’m intrigued.

Off topic but Marilyn was also tiny. The exhibition near London Bridge has some of her clothes and they are titchy.

Julianna Nicholson played a newby associate in the final series of Ally McBeal. I can't remember much about that series, but from what I recall, she was supposed to be a bit of a mini Ally, and she was having an on/off romance with another lawyer (a bit like Ally and Billy).

Yes she was. People always use her slightly fuller figure in Some Like I Hot and the clothes sizing of the time (pre vanity sizing) to say she was large or even fat (looking at you, Liz Hurley), but she was very slim with a tiny waist and a disproportionately large chest. Kim Kardashian controversially wore Marilyn's "Happy Birthday Mr President" dress to the Met Gala a couple of years ago, and said she had to lose 16 pounds to fit into it.

I went to see a play that Felicity Huffman was in and I was sat right behind Jonathan Cake. I spent the whole time trying to think where I knew him from then realised right at the end, when felicity came and hugged him, that he was from Desperate Housewives.

I was really annoyed at Carrie’s stupid shows the whole time she was at Aidan’s place. I mean, I know that designer shoes are kind of her trademark, and that her luggage got lost, but would she really have been wearing those to go to a farm? It’s not like you can’t buy very expensive designer quirky flat shoes or trainers.

Also, has anyone else noticed how often Miranda is eating and talking? It’s like Cynthia Nixon has this schtick of chomping her way through every conversation. She was eating some sort of protein bar on the phone on the last episode. I think perhaps because Miranda was always a very busy lawyer who only had time to call her friends on her lunch break and it’s meant to make her more “real” or something. And she did at least always have a good appetite I suppose. (maybe too good, remember the cake form the bin episode of SATC? 😂).

The phone call on the loo I can forgive a bit more though, I kind of like that they show the sort of thing that real people do rather than a sanitised TV version.

But do you really sit down on the loo and then call someone?

Miranda has always talked and eaten. That bit is faithful to her character.

I think Carrie could have picked up some flip flops at the mall they went to when they played VR. Which presumably also had shops in it!

Carrie did ask where the nearest Target was. Yeah, right. As if Carrie Bradshaw has ever set foot inside a Target!!!

I loved her wardrobe in Divorce. There was one particular maxi dress that was gorgeous.
SJP showed a lot more range with her acting too.
I also saw her in Plaza Suite but I was a bit underwhelmed. It was ok.
I’d love to see her act in something really challenging and uncompromising.
She looks amazing for 60.
I can’t see any sign of tweakments in her face, definitely visible on Charlotte.

Yes she had a tiny waist thought and bust 36 as were her hips so a real hourglass. A old size 10. Whereas SHP is a /-6 in her youth.

I saw her and Matthew in Plaza Suite too. I thought the play was really terrible, but they did well. It was all pretty broad and bawdy. I didn't care, I was just so excited to see her on stage!

I would love to see her do something more demanding too

I think SJP is an underrated dramatic actress, just like Jennifer Aniston. Both deserve roles outside romantic comedy.
Though in " Divorce", when SJP was wearing grungy sweats, I often had to restrain myself from shouting " Carrie, what are you wearing?". 😂

The Morning Show is fabulous television. Also a far more worthy vehicle for Karen Pittman.

@Doubleraspberry incredibly addictive show - and everyone is really good in it - very accurate too about how media operates and the politics within it . Although I’m fascinated why lovely janko wears eyeliner!!
