Anyone wanna join in with the pre-screening goss and hype?

Me first… SJP has posted her run through nameplate on insta. But so has this actor - a rumoured love interest for Miranda? What do we think?

I also think Charlotte running into Trey would give her a juicy storyline. There's only so much the writers ring out of the school stuff.

*wring 🙄

Reading this and thinking…hot gardener? I was watching it in bed on Friday and now think I must have fallen asleep and missed half of it!

Charlotte is annoying. Aiden gives me massive ick. The school story is just tedious and I can’t be bothered with Charlotte’s kids.

Still hate watching tbh

Why watch at all?

Something I can’t figure out. Carrie now lives in this massive, unbelievable town house but why is the kitchen so tiny? The place is huge but she can hardly fit a chair in it. Just curious

They’ll be a second kitchen somewhere. This is the ‘stunt kitchen’ the other one is where the chef would be…. Stunt kitchen or not, it’s pretty uninspiring…

Well, it’s a real house in gramercy park isn’t it? Maybe we could find a listing 😂

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 09/06/2025 22:52

https://www.corcoran.com/listing/sold/3-gramercy-park-west-2-fl-manhattan-ny-10003/5715466/regionId/1

this is it apparently. But carrie’s interior is a set think.

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 09/06/2025 22:52

And the kitchen is tiny!

Florally · 09/06/2025 22:54

Wow the kitchen is tiny!

maybe that’s just the way New Yorkers live…

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 09/06/2025 22:56

Wouldn’t really matter to Carrie anyway would it?! She uses her oven for storage

Doubleraspberry · 10/06/2025 07:05

I think Carrie is a duplex. That apartment’s just the one floor!

I’ve read that that would just have been a butler/prep kitchen, and the real working kitchen possibly in the basement, back when the house had a staff. And even now I think people who have that much money to spend on real estate have staff.

MrsEverest · 10/06/2025 08:13

I always wondered why Carrie put up with Big's terrible behaviour but now I see the house she lives in and I see why. It makes me feel a bit sick - so transactional. Imagine if she only lived with what she'd been able to earn......very very different life.

I'm enjoying the guilty feminist's podcasts on the show though! Deborah Frances-white would make a good show runner!

Carriedoesntlivehereanymore · 10/06/2025 14:10

Especially as she has declared him a mistake, @MrsEverest!

Yes, the gall of her really whilst using his wealth to buy a ridiculous house effectively for her, her ex boyfriend and her stepchildren who by the way she's never met. That kind of made me a bit sick, talk about having your cake.

CowTown · 10/06/2025 15:39

Big did give $1,000,000 to Natasha, so I don’t feel too badly for him…

Carriedoesntlivehereanymore · 10/06/2025 15:49

No, I don’t, and I never really liked that character anyway - too smarmy. But to spend all his money on a very ostentatious house, in order to shack up with his former competition, whilst declaring him a mistake - she did him over!!

PurplebeadedFendi · 10/06/2025 16:18

Carrie's rationalisation is compensation: she's being compensated for being induced into a marriage where her husband betrayed her by dying early. He betrayed her for feeling guilt about the way he treated Natasha and wanting to give her a token gesture of apology with money. He should never have induced Carrie to have an affair with him and break her and Aiden up first time. He should never have remained friends with her such that Aiden felt insecure the second time. He should never have existed as her husband in order to prevent Carrie from getting together with Aiden in Abu Dhabi. Carrie is all about the deflection of blame. It's never about her or her choices.

Aiden and Big were both massive arseholes, but Big did love her. Aiden, I am not so sure. I think after the initial break up, it's always been edgy, and feels edgy in AJLT. He needs to win. But he never can, because the deed was done, he lost when the affair happened; she passed him over for Big, and she's only with him now because Big is gone, and she's too much of a coward and a PITA to look forwards and start afresh with someone new.

The grand apartment is symbolic. It's princess Carrie in her fairytale castle waiting for her prince to come and wake her up. He's slaying dragons in Virginia, on a quest that will take him 5 years before he can come and rescue her. She's wafting around in her princess dresses talking to her Disney cat sidekick, waiting for him to come. It's the fairytale, magical thinking train the writers have had Carrie on ever since Big "rescued" her in Paris. So far from the grubby reality of SATC. Carrie is unrecognisable in spirit to the old Carrie, who was at least funny and a nice friend, if totally self absorbed. Now she is neither funny nor particularly nice, but very much still self absorbed and her dark triad traits show through without the humour to mask it.

I'm really enjoying it 😂

MammaDia · 10/06/2025 19:14

I've been pondering Carrie too. Miranda was the big obvious character change in S1 and 2 (not just becoming a lesbian but her actual personality). She is clearly becoming more Miranda like again now.

But Carrie is the disappointment. She was always selfish, fickle and self absorbed but now seems to be a caricature. I have a feeling she is closer to what SJP is in real life now. The carefully curated lady of 'culture' living in a huge NY townhouse with a cat.

I would love it if she cheats on Aidan on with the hot gardener though. Who I think is Trey from the OC?

They also shouldn't have written Big out of it completely. It's so odd. He was the absolute love of her love, her husband, and now she acts as if he never existed. It's so unrealistic. And I don't think Aidan would be comfortable living in a house bought with Big's money.

I googled what Big would approximately be worth once and it was circa 50m they reckon.

Harry is also bothering me. Yes, he used to embarrass Charlotte when they met but he was sharp, funny and had a bit of swagger. Now he's a doddery guy who acts as if he hadn't been out in public before. Not a tough NY, infighter lawyer.

I'm a die hard SATC fan. However bad it gets, I don't think I'll ever stop watching it! I first watched it on paramount in 1998 when I was 16 - I've absolutely grown up with it! It's good to get it all of my chest!

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/06/2025 19:46

Floor plan shows as 3 bed or 2 bed and an office

they can’t be right

it’s a mansion

bedroom each for kids so needs least 4

GellerYeller · 10/06/2025 22:41

I love this thread. We’ve established Big’s net worth AND found the floor plan of Carrie’s house?!
I agree, it doesn’t feel very feminist for Carrie to be swanning round her giant abode ‘with a key to the park’ in implausible outfits when her (surely, main) source of income is Big’s inheritance. I accept her writing career may earn a decent wedge of course.
Over invested, me?

EachandEveryone · 10/06/2025 22:45

I wish she’d hurry up and get an interior designer in.

When was Carrie ever feminist? She was always living off Big.

ILoveBrum · 10/06/2025 23:02

Carrie is perfectly entitled to live off Big’s inheritance - she is his widow!! I’m surprised anyone thinks otherwise! Plus she is a successful writer in her own right, so it’s not like she is a bum or hasn’t earnt her own money too!

I know Chris Noth has been ‘cancelled’ but it’s annoying that they’ve done the same with Big - Carrie can still consider him the love of her life but move on, not believe she made a mistake with choosing him over Aiden!

Especially as I always hated Aiden & he’s no better in this series! Really would love her with the podcast producer or the widowed teacher! Both very handsome men and she had a lot more chemistry with them than truckwank Aiden!

Holluschickie · 10/06/2025 23:04

Writers dont earn that kind of money.

ILoveBrum · 10/06/2025 23:12

She sold bestselling books (multiple) but regardless, I’m not saying she was rich like Big, just that she did earn her own money too. Anyway, she’s a rich widow - why wouldn’t she spend / enjoy it as she’s entitled
to that money!

Holluschickie · 10/06/2025 23:18

I am only saying: Carrie is not my idea of a feminist. Even when not married at all.
Miranda was.
