Is it worth having somewhere to discuss this? It is live for viewing from today. Are we doing spoilers or not?

I think Peter Firth was having a good time with his short scenes!

@IwantToRetire I understand that Peter Firth plays the Duke of Norfolk. I have just finished reading Dissolution and have not yet read any of the other novels. But the Duke of Norfolk is only referred to in the novel and doesn't actually appear. Does he show up in the later novels?

I wish we had Disney + as I would like to see Peter Firth in anything! 😀

I think the tv adaptation is not true to the books.

As it happens I gave in having said I wouldn't do it, but have started listening to the second book (Dark Fire) being read by Anton Lesser and reminded me of how much of the first book the tv version just didn't cover. (And no mention of Duke of Norfolk - but mention of the Howards as a family.)

For anyone interested search youtube with "Shardlake audiobook"

Have just finished listening to book 2 Dark Fire - and yes the Duke of Norfolk is definitely part of the story line.

But dont forget tv adaptations dont always follow the book.

They could easily just have some character say "Have you heard the Duke of Norfolk ... " and they never show him on screen.

Never trust tv adaptations.

Listening to the audio books, makes it obvious how much they have cut and changed.
