Loved Mallorca Files, Endeavour, Murder in Provence, Macdonald and Dodds, Dalziel and Pascoe and all the above. Wondered if anyone has any newer recommendations - even from the Channel 4 Scandi series? - difficult to see from the initial precis of a series if it has any quirkiness or humour. Loved Strike too. Father Brown and Madame Blanc were a bit crap in comparison.
Thanks in advance

Beyond paradise is very warm .. but set in present day down in Devon

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 21/04/2024 17:23

Phryne Fisher is great fun - Miss Fisher’ Murder Mysteries.

OiGetOff · 21/04/2024 17:26

Professor T has a new (3rd) series on at the moment. Easy watching, quirky. All available on ITVx.

CulturalNomad · 21/04/2024 17:29

Queens of Mystery - quirky, cozy, great cast and characters

devildeepbluesea · 21/04/2024 17:31

I came on to say Professor T too.
Also, if you haven’t watched it already, Jonathan Creek.

passwordnotsecure · 21/04/2024 17:32

Thanks all so far. Yes, forgot to say, We've seen Death in/Beyond Paradise and Professor T. Love both! I think Miss Fisher is on a channel we don't have. What channel is Queens of Mystery on please?

The Chelsea Detective is that kind of vibe. On Acorn (Amazon prime).

passwordnotsecure · 21/04/2024 17:34

Inspector Gently is good

Branster · 21/04/2024 17:36

Inspector Moltanbano
It used to be on BBC3 (or 4 a while back). I wonder if there is a 'box set' on any channels.

Alsonification · 21/04/2024 17:36

I love Vera. Each episode is 2 hours so feels like a movie almost.

I also loved Endeavour/Morse. Must have a look at the other suggestions.

Unfortunately that's where I watched Queens of Mystery.

Granchester?
All series on ITVX. I've just started series 1. Comfort crime drama!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 21/04/2024 17:38

The Magpie Murders?

rainbowhairchalk · 21/04/2024 17:41

Annika and Shetland. Payback is also very good.

Gorgonemilezola · 21/04/2024 17:41

Whitstable Pearl
Brokenwood
Mrs Siddhu Investigates
Maigret (I like the Rowan Atkinson ones)
Signora Volpe
Harry Wild
Darby and Joan
Foyles War
There was one with Samantha Bond recently, set in Henley or somewhere.

Samantha Bond one was Marlow Murder Club (UKTV play).

Tristar15 · 21/04/2024 17:56

I agree that the Rowan Atkinson Maigret are a good watch.
