It was a rubbish task considering how small the teams where. Someone on the team of three was going it alone in a situation where there really had to be at leady one other to bounce ideas off. Foluso really did have the short straw though didn't see. So much for one person to do. I actually think what she did was OK considering she was solo and had very little info to work off.

Mind you the other team had Phil "It's up to you" Turner on their team so maybe no better off!!

(Just looked up his name, as I wasn't sure of his surname. I see there's a lot of news outlets focusing on it all being a fix. With OK! magazine claiming Apprentice fans are delighted he avoid defeat.🤔)

Bruisername · 05/04/2024 12:52

If he wins then it shows that the previous 10 weeks are a total farce (ok I know) and the credibility of the program is truly dead

Acatdance · 05/04/2024 12:59

Neither the branding nor the product creation was suitable for a single person. We saw the issues with the branding; with the product creation there'd have been a real risk of the flavour being too niche, tailored to one person's palate. Especially as your palate will become unreliable after tasting multiple flavours.

Phil was set up to win wasn't he? He was put with three of the strongest left - Tre, Flo and Paul. What business idea does he have that Suralan wants him in the interviews I wonder?

It wasn't fair to leave Falusa on her own but she was her own cheerleader when it came to branding. Plus Rachel was the only person to put herself forward as a team lead. Falusa could have ensured her own safety in numbers by being the team leader and ensuring that she wasn't on her own but she didn't step up. Falusa had what is missing in most of them, fun!

Steve's 'pick me dance' at the end was not genuine as shown by his smarmy 'I can't believe I wasn't chosen/I've never been told no before'. He adores himself and his networking/friend idea has been done so many times already. Was he really just going to change other people's ideas from a website to an app and that was it? Surely not?

Flo is falling after starting so strong. Perhaps its because the weaker people are gone now so she's not standing out anymore? She has the confidence that only rich people have and imo that is why she has progressed in the selection process.

Interviews next week. Already looking forward to them.

I hope Rachel wears cooler shoes for the interviews and maybe a bit of blush too instead of the heavy foundation.

I'm convinced Phil has dodgy photos of Lord Sugar. Has anyone every made it to the interview round with nine losses behind them?

He may have been forced to be PM but it was another food task and the team was loaded in his favour. The task needed two groups and was always going to be easier for the four person team (especially when the person moved was a strong performer in the process). It feels a lot like a stitch up.

Bruisername · 05/04/2024 17:00

i can’t remember what tasks they had in this round in prior years but it did seem unfair. And the way he just moved one person across - don’t even try and pretend!!

Are his pies available in London? And are there any veggie ones? Curious to try.

I don't think you can buy them fresh in London, but you can get them sent by post.
They do veggie ones, yes.

As I said, the pies are nice, but I'm very suspicious about the fact he's still in.

VivienneDelacroix · 05/04/2024 22:12

Weirdly, I live within 10 minutes of 3 of his pie shops and only one has a big promotional poster of him on the Apprentice in the window. None of the others acknowledge it. I wonder if he is less liked in some stores!

TitsInAbsentia · 06/04/2024 15:21

Posted on the old thread which wasn't full up and forgot this one was going full steam ahead!

This is def set up for Phil to win.

It would be so funny if Phil’s being kept in because his pie business looks great and he’s actually pitching for a new motivational speaking business or something

I’ve read that SurAlan gets to see the business plans before it all starts, so he must know which plans are investable for him from the outset.

Ellmau · 06/04/2024 16:14

So this is about Phil's existing business: Everything you need to know about Turner's Pies - the West Sussex bakery whose owner is competing on The Apprentice (sussexexpress.co.uk)]

I wonder if it's a spin off business of some sort he's asking for the investment in. There seem to be to many people involved already in the main business.

The shares are split between Phil and his wife and his brother according to Companies House, but they are different classes of share - that is an update on the previous year’s confirmation statement, so I wonder if it’s been restructured ensure it remains a family business?

Ellmau · 06/04/2024 17:40

Could be.

I must admit the pies do actually look good.

Looking at the record of results on the wikipedia page, while Phil's record is lamentable, Rachel has been lucky she was in the winning team so often, she's lost both times she was PM. But no one else has brought her back to the BR.

Tre is the only one to have won twice as PM, and he has no boardroom appearances at all. Paul has one win and one loss as PM, and has never been brought back the the boardroom by anyone else, maybe he's a dark horse for the final.

Flo was only PM once, pretty early on (which she won) - has she been avoiding responsibility?

Bruisername · 06/04/2024 17:44

I think Paul is just a normal professional. I’m surprised he got on as he behaves pretty much how professionals I know would behave. Dentistry is definitely a good moneyspinner

do We know what flo and tre have in mind for their businesses?

SabrinaThwaite · 06/04/2024 18:02

Flo has her own recruitment consultancy and that’s what she wants SurAlan to invest in.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 06/04/2024 18:20

Looking forward to the interviews

Acatdance · 06/04/2024 19:36

I don't really like the interviews, the best is over by that stage. The interviews are so obviously over-dramatised, they're meaningless.

Bruisername · 06/04/2024 19:38

I don’t like the interviews either - only watch for claude. It’s clear their business plans are hasty so are easily ripped apart. It’s also clear by this point that they know who their finalists are. I don’t bother watching the final.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 06/04/2024 19:39

I don't really enjoy the last episode. I only care who's won.

C8H10N4O2 · 06/04/2024 19:41

SabrinaThwaite · 06/04/2024 16:06

I’ve read that SurAlan gets to see the business plans before it all starts, so he must know which plans are investable for him from the outset.

I've generally assumed that at the outset they must have a few business plan considered viable. I've generally hoped its not a total stitch up even if the real contest is from a subset at the outset.

However if Phil wins after his dire performance and for a business which he didn't start or change it makes the contest a bit pointless. Most winners have started their own businesses and the one I can think of which was related to a family business was a new direction/spin off started by the candidate before the context.

Acatdance · 06/04/2024 22:55

I must say, I wouldn't mind Paul as my dentist - he has a very calm manner.

lemongrizzled · 06/04/2024 23:54

Just rewatching this week’s episode and wondering why they put Flo in the video instead of having Tre do a rap. Would’ve been so much better

WittiestUsernameEver · 07/04/2024 08:16

Piggywaspushed · 04/04/2024 21:35

I'm not getting why you can't have a gourmet spread?

They had to find something to criticise...

There's nothing wrong with it in this context, they couldn't use "pâté" it anything else really.

It wasn't about being a good "rapper" it was about being the face of the product and selling it.
