Well, that was all a bit pointless and underwhelming really.
I wonder how much the publicity / exposure of being on the Apprentice will actually translate into increased pie sales though. Surely not that much?

Lentilweaver · 18/04/2024 22:02

Tim being Torso of the Week on You Are Fired!😂

RainbowSnake · 18/04/2024 22:02

Tim looks really different with facial hair.

Beekeepingmum · 18/04/2024 22:03

Not sure either would have got investment if they had gone on Dragons Den....

RavenswoodFalls · 18/04/2024 22:03

Are all the candidates there? Don’t think I saw Noor, not sure about Asif

petalpower · 18/04/2024 22:05

Noor wasn’t on the spin off show either

RonSwansonsChair · 18/04/2024 22:05

petalpower · 18/04/2024 21:49

I’m sure in the past here has been a ‘meet the finalists’ type programme before the final?

I think you're right @petalpower - wasn't there a Final 5 type show before the final? Maybe it was the interviews, that I'm thinking of 🤔

Just catching up & finished watching the pitches - I thought Phil did a better job, he definitely looked more comfortable pitching.
Back to it now..... see you all again shortly 😀

I think Phil might have done - considering they only see a tiny snapshot and not him being hopeless week after week. He could deliver a pitch and then give them a load of pies to try. I think he'd have got investment - as I've said previously he's pies are really good - even if he's a prat.

petalpower · 18/04/2024 22:07

Yes I think you're right @RonSwansonsChair - final five programme

VivienneDelacroix · 18/04/2024 22:08

Why is Phil saying "I took over the business" and not "we took over the business".

TitsInAbsentia · 18/04/2024 22:11

Glad they didn't bother with the final five show, really not interested in their families and all that...yes, I do realise that sounds harsh!

Who else was involved.?

LaMarschallin · 18/04/2024 22:12

Sounds dead right, afaic

We have one of their pie shops at the bottom of our road - I might be slightly more inclined to go down and buy one now...

His website has crashed so a lot of people might be trying to look at it.

RavenswoodFalls · 18/04/2024 22:18

Lord Sugar sounds very weird on this - does he have something wrong with his mouth?

Koptforitagain · 18/04/2024 22:20

I think Phil decided to walk away from Sugar. I don’t think he wants Sugar’s fingers in his pies.

I don’t think he wanted to give up the online business.

I actually think he’s right on that one.

MichaelAndEagle · 18/04/2024 22:30

Giving away half your family business for £250k doesn't seem that great a deal.
They have to say quarter of a million to make it sound more.

Anotherillnes · 18/04/2024 22:30

Finding it hard to believe they moved the news for the Hired show. It’s fine on BBC2

SloaneStreetVandal · 18/04/2024 22:32

I've had Turner's pies by post, they are absolutely delicious.
Phil deserved to win, but I think he's actually better off keeping the established ethos of his business and not giving away 50% to someone like Sugar. Maybe he'll attract investment from someone more suitable (and he's had excellent publicity).

I didn't find Rachel warm or particularly inspiring, I thought she was very corporate so on the basis of her being the USP I can't see her 'personal touch' gyms being a huge success.

RonSwansonsChair · 18/04/2024 22:34

So far behind ..... I'm actually in shock that Rachel won, but fair play to her!
Best of luck to her in the future.

Thanks for the threads @ArticSaviour , and thanks to everyone for the chats 😀

I think he's won by not winning 😂 His pitch was brilliant, I hope he gets investment from someone nicer and less grabby than Sugar.

ArticSaviour · 18/04/2024 21:07

Fucking Maura. Silly mare

😂😂 agreed!

BogRollBOGOF · 18/04/2024 23:07

I'm glad Rachel won, and think she has the better personality to work with Lord Sugar. I can't see Phil taking well to feedback about his family business. Rachel has been incredibly strong and professional throughout.

It's felt odd the way Phil was kept in despite his performance, but otherwise it's been a stronger field of candidates than recent years.

The tasks need a mix-up; bring back the convention (product selection and sales), and the commission for selecting and selling to events like galleries. It feels like some of the tasks are too condensed which compromises quality and results in repetitive outcomes. I'm sure that there was a bit more time allocated to some of the product design/ branding many years back.
