That drink tre made himself while reviewing his business plan looked rank!

and filming Paul cleaning his teeth🙄. They really respect their audiences intelligence

the problem with this format is that £250k is not a huge amount - as the established businesses show - both had more than that in reserves.

so is this just a way for Alan to get 50% of a business with little risk to himself

or should it be aimed at people who actually really need that seed investment. In which case someone whose product needs a lot of work should still be able to win because it should be the person he is investing in

or is it just a tired old format that needs to go in the bin

The seed investment is what Dragon's Den is for.

Icehockeyflowers · 14/04/2024 14:22

Initially The Apprentice did invest in people. I remember some inventor guy who was very smart but couldn’t do the business side.

Remember when a woman sued because she had given up her good role and there wasn’t really a job for her. Is that when the format changed?

I think Paul was the smart one at this point. He isn't desperate enough to give half his business away for 250k and has a business which will attract more equitable investment. Paul's stupid move was the same as Tre's - starting a new business in an area he doesn't know instead of making it a new venture within his expertise.

Phil apparently is willing to give away half the established business for 250k

This. Watching Sugar politely told to shove it made my day. Time for the programme to get a complete rebrand and send Sugar and Baroness Brady back to the Lords.

Thing is, Sugar knew it too. I had a lot of respect for Paul at this point! Paul was the only one fired "with respect" I think? (I.e. "you clearly don't need my investment and you know it, goodbye")

NeelyOHara1 · 14/04/2024 19:48

The "interviews" were scripted boringness I half watched. As people have said the next series needs a reboot. I was thinking perhaps it could go back to being for a job but with outside companies/organisations etc coming up with them? That should give more scope for variety of candidates and tasks I would have thought?

Anotherillnes · 14/04/2024 19:55

Maybe the Apprentice has just run its course. Time for a new programme but that takes money and risk so the Apprentice will probably limp along. I presume the viewing figures are still reasonable when there are threads here/other SM.

suburburban · 14/04/2024 20:33

I don't like Karen much either

I think Margaret was kinder as is Tim

Yes it was better when he needed an assistant

I can think of a few other shows which are past their best but are limping along because they're seemingly popular and it's too much of a risk for anything new

It's not changed with inflation has it so isn't what it once was when the format adjusted.

I'm sure we'll be seeing more of Tre, and even if it was purely a PR stunt, (likely) he's raised his profile in a very positive manner (as long as we forget about the juice). That bothers me much less than Phil limping to the final.

Bruisername · 16/04/2024 19:07

Yes agreed - every series you get a few personalities who use it as a springboard. Nothing wrong with that as they can be entertaining

Arconialiving · 16/04/2024 19:11

I atree @BogRollBOGOF

Arconialiving · 16/04/2024 19:11

*agree

RonSwansonsChair · 18/04/2024 20:46

I have to collect DS from training at 9, so will be about 10min behind - but I'm saying it now...... Phil will Win (no other reason why he's still there!)

TitsInAbsentia · 18/04/2024 20:54

Sadly have to agree with you @RonSwansonsChair

ArticSaviour · 18/04/2024 20:58

So, are we all ready to watch Phil be an unworthy winner.....

OP posts:
Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 18/04/2024 20:59

Unfortunately that's my assumption too@RonSwansonsChair.

RainbowSnake · 18/04/2024 21:00

I know Phil is going to win this but I’ll still be annoyed when it happens. Rachel has been a much better contestant.

Lentilweaver · 18/04/2024 21:03

Evening all, wondering if it is even worth watching.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 18/04/2024 21:03

I cant watch live so I'll just be checking the thread. Assume Phil will win and considering his mediocre performance in the tasks, this years feels very rigged in a way I don't think it has before.

Lentilweaver · 18/04/2024 21:05

ooh the gorgeous Painted Hall.

ArticSaviour · 18/04/2024 21:07

Fucking Maura. Silly mare

Why are most of the women wearing colour coordinated orange?

Lentilweaver · 18/04/2024 21:08

Orange is the new black😁

RavenswoodFalls · 18/04/2024 21:08

And blue suits for the men.

It’s like a really awkward wedding
