A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

Our list is cumulative so includes recommendations and favourites from all previous threads. Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. I have just finished the finale and pretty sure it'll be the first 10 I put on the spreadsheet. Loved everything about the show - whole ensemble of the cast, soundtrack, the flow of the plot. Byeon Woo Seok's face. I will def rewatch in future.

The cringe at the beginning is essential for a v specific plot device. It is necessary cringe.

I am also watching search:www on Pol's recommendation. I am in episode three and is there going to be some lesbian representation in this show??? Only other lesbian character I can think of in a kdrama is the woman in HTCCC who has a pretty small role.

Jang Ki Yong looks soooo different in this compared to TAF.

Sometimes I feel like I spam you all with messages because of the time difference and then wake up in the morning to various replies... Anyway, my final thought of the night - I obviously need to investigate more music from 10cm. One of my favourite songs from LR soundtrack is by them, they have a great song on CLOY soundtrack as well. Anyone else listened to much of them?

I'm now going left field with vampires (Blood) while I wait for The Atypical Family at the weekend. DH and I are watching Tail of the Nine Tailed 1938 together, so it was a good time to watch MM, with all the other woo stuff on the go.

I tell you what, those glasses in TAF costing 780,000 won may be the most unrealistic thing I've ever come across in KD. Glasses are SO CHEAP there!

AmVa I don't remember any lesbians in Search WWW, although it's a while since I watched it. What I do remember is there were a lot of hot guys in it, three of which made last year's oppa advent calendar and one who's currently getting a lot of love in Lovely Runner. It's definitely more about the women in the show, though, and their relationships with each other, rather than about the men.

We finally finished watching hometown chachacha, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. The ending was a bit odd though, the penultimate episode was all emotion and drama and then the final episode was a bit blah with what seemed like a 10 minute dominos advert in the middle! 🤣🍕

Our next family selection is going to be crash landing on you and I’m going to have a browse through the recommendations to find one for me to watch on my own.

@Cobol as a Lovely Runner die hard, I literally sat up dramatically and gasped when Byeon WooSeok appeared in the third episode 😅😅

I was getting some vibes from two of the women (they had a romantic 'pull someone out of the path of a scooter and hug them moment... Then realise they are standing close to each other'. Maybe my brain is has been infiltrates by tropes at this point in time 🤣🤣😵‍💫

You are so lucky to have CLOY to look forward to. I have never been so invested in a drama as I was in that.

DH and I finally finished Rain or Shine. Far too much stuff about construction and we didn't even get to see the finished project! Tears from me in the last couple of episodes but DH reflected that I hadn't enjoyed the show as much as otherwise I'd be crying a lot more (he knows me well😆). I've suggested Lovely Runner for our next watch together. I've no idea what it's about but hoping it's quite different from ROS. I've started Fight for My Way as my solo watch and nearly finished the second episode. Enjoying so far. Now that I've watched quite a few it's nice to recognise the actors from other shows.

LOVED CLOY. It was my first kdrama and I've been meaning to carve out some time to rewatch it but there are just too many other dramas to watch. Enjoy!!

@peanutcookie Lovely Runner is very different to RoS. It is a lot of fun, I laughed a lot as opposed to cried a lot which I did in RoS! Won't say anything else so you go in without knowing much.

Search WWW definitely should have a lesbian storyline AmVa and I also thought thats where it was heading. But I guess Korea wasn't quite ready 😐

At least it's just Kopiko Clare. Since we started watching kdramas we've somehow managed to acquire not just one but two coffee pod machines 😂😂😂

(One for lattes, one for espresso. Plus our original filter coffee maker - we're serious about our coffee ☕️ 😀 )

I suggest eating one while you are working at a desk and feeling tired. Rub your eyes and then open the drawer and take one out. Look at it questioningly for a second and then pop it in your mouth and exclaim "Mmmm that's refreshing!". Then, go back to work with renewed invigoration.
