A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

Our list is cumulative so includes recommendations and favourites from all previous threads. Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. @Rowdythree The Netflix Three Body Problem is very much your Western wham bam thank you ma’am adaptation with stunning visuals and special effects and good looking scientists living unfeasibly cool lives. It does have some heart, but doesn’t touch even average kdrama levels of feels. The narrative unfolded well, in that it hooked and intrigued DH and DS. It was well done but it is a very different beast to the books.

FedUp - I recall WCRG - I watched it via snippets on YouTube, was a funny romp. Do agree on the visually impaired in these C-dramas, with the old girl dressed as boy thingy, they are as convincing as Kim Yoo-jung in Love in the Moonlight, 😂. I'm loving the relationship between the two dads.

QoT latest episode hit all the right spots. I was genuinely lol at the orchard scene and the accusation of nepotism. I don't even see the neck now, as the chemistry between the male and female leads is off the chart. All the different side stories are developing nicely too.

We have caught up on last week's QOT so only 2 episodes behind now. Should have had faith in Park Ji Eun!!! So good and can't wait for more of the hometown episodes.

V sad I had the cameo in episode 8 spoiled as I would have squealed when it happened otherwise. I had to pause about 5 times in two minutes to explain each reference to husband.

DH and I started Parasyte: The Grey it's quite fun, like a cross between Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Sweet Home. Don't expect to be amazed by the SFX 🤣

I've been watching Jazz for Two on iQiyi - High School set bl with slight jazz references. Really good acting and chemistry between the two couples, everyone's relationship is toxic trash-fire, im here for it but its not as good as the webtoon so far - we shall see how it pans out....

DS and I have started Handsome Siblings -wuxia epic on Netflix. Its ticking our boxes so far but only one episode in....
