delilabell · 21/03/2024 22:36

I feel its dramatic to say a breakdown but I'm pretty sure that's what I'm going through now .
When I'm in a dark place I watch dark things but I know this isn't good for me..
Please could I have some ideas of things to watch?
I love dinner ladies, vicar of dibly, ghosts and gavin and Stacey.
I also love things like Stacey Solomon sort your life out and things with Phil and kirsty.
I have access to everything other than apple TV.
Thank you

Schitts Creek
Free trial of Apple TV just for Ted Lasso, it's literally the best medicine.

Perfectlystill · 21/03/2024 22:37

Friday Night Dinners and Parks and Recreation both perfect for you.

I hope you feel better soon

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 21/03/2024 22:37

Friday night dinner
Modern family
Black adder
The office

CassTheFox · 21/03/2024 22:41

Hope you get better soon ❤️

Recommend Derry Girls

MrsBobtonTrent · 21/03/2024 22:43

Detectorists is my go to funny, gentle, restorative watch.

Ellmau · 21/03/2024 22:45

My Lottery Dream Home is my new favourite property show. American, but the host is lovely and the houses are nice (and so cheap compared to the equivalent here). It's on HGTV.

Boombatty · 21/03/2024 22:46

When I feel like that I watch Friends on repeat! Also Big Bang Theory.

Came on here to recommend this. I also watched Britain's Historic Towns on the back of it!

crumpet · 21/03/2024 22:51

Your home made perfect
also an American renovation one with 2 brothers (can’t remember name)
Loved the Detectorists, Park & Rec is a joy, as is FridayNight Dinner. More abrasive but very funny is the Thick of It.

JennyfromtheBlok · 21/03/2024 22:54

Was also going to say Detectorists! Especially at the other stuff you like.

It’s so peaceful, the music, conversations, countryside etc. We have seen it all now, but I loved sitting watching this and it made me feel super relaxed.

Also it is funny obviously 😊

mynameiscalypso · 21/03/2024 22:56

In a similar situation, I've watched all the episodes of Taskmaster on repeat. I don't really like watching new stuff and crave the familiarity of something I've seen before

YakinikuGal · 21/03/2024 22:57

George and Mildred

Agree, especially Ted Lasso.

DirectionToPerfection · 21/03/2024 22:59

Also not recent but Kath & Kim is great.

Timeforachocolate · 21/03/2024 23:01

Great Interior Design Challenge
love it or list it

for cosy crime: Sister Boniface or Father Brown or Shakespeare and Hathaway

Youarenotseriouspeople · 21/03/2024 23:01

Schitts Creek and Colin from Accounts are my comfort blankets

TheChosenTwo · 21/03/2024 23:01

Sorry you’re going through such a rough patch at the moment OP, hang on in there and do what you can to look after yourself properly.
I would thorougly recommend Schitts Creek too, very spoilt rich family lose it all (it’s the opening scence in episode 1, not a spoiler) and the series sees them planted into very austere measures, so brilliant, warm, funny and so much love. I wish I were watching it from scratch again!

Moveoverdarlin · 21/03/2024 23:02

I agree with Ted Lasso. It’s heartwarming and uplifting.

Crochetablanket · 21/03/2024 23:02

Sorry to hear you aren’t doing so well. Dinnerladies is my go to show . Also there’s a re run of the Kay Mellor series Fat Friends on Netflix at the moment. Both so much deeper than the funny bits.

Sylver75 · 21/03/2024 23:05

Queer Eye, real feel-good tv and has the personal style and home makeover part that's always a winner.
Wellmania (Celeste Barber)
Motherland (Anna Maxwell Martin, Diane Morgan)
Unstable (Rob Lowe)

Worstyearyet · 21/03/2024 23:08

When I was going through similar I enjoyed:
Miranda
Call the Midwife
Downton Abbey
Agatha Christie adaptations
Any antiques programmes
Cooking programmes

LokiCokey · 21/03/2024 23:09

Extraordinary on Disney plus, funny with some emotional bits that take you by surprise

AllLopsided · 21/03/2024 23:12

Slightly off-piste but The Marvellous Mrs Maisel on Amazon is very good, with great costumes as a bonus!

Chrisaldridge · 21/03/2024 23:12

Great British Railway journeys with Michael Portillo. Very calming tv.

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 21/03/2024 23:17

When I was signed off work for a while I watched Derry Girls, Modern Family, The Gilded Age, The Golden Girls, Homes Under The Hammer, Your House Made Perfect/Your Garden Made Perfect, and re-runs of Great British Sewing Bee and Great British Bake Off. Nice gentle stuff that I didn’t have to think too hard about and gave me a few giggles.

I hope you start to feel better soon x
