The carpenter Asher in clean it fix it is brilliant. But I’m confused as to mark wrights presence!
it was great with just the three of them.

the other series should be on iplayer. I’m sure i saw them there not long ago

wildfellhall · 06/03/2025 15:05

I thought the breadbin bedside table was quite clever & didn't look bad.

The lamp shade with the cupcake cases 🤦‍♀️- there are no words, it's like when your child makes you something heinous and you can't wait to bin it. It also seemed a little bit fire-risky?

When she starts with her glue gun!

Ulysees · 06/03/2025 15:37

Asher is fab on clean it fix it. So laid back. Mark seems to be more of a presenter.

Thanks

I really didn't enjoy this weeks episode. It made me feel claustrophobic and I found it cloying. It was as if I was some sort of voyeur watching a Jane Austen novel being played out. Far far too florid and girly.
I wonder what happened to the father of these daughters. The youngest was only about 16 wasn't she?

ThisIsMyYearToFindMyself · 07/03/2025 22:42

Oh wait, who are they? I watched the first episode of series three, there was only the DIY man on the left, the cleaner lady and the carpenter. Are the other two both presenters then?

RaraRachael · 07/03/2025 22:44

I agree @DBSFstupid . The bit I found odd was when the mum said they had to keep Gran's chair because she felt she was still there. I don't think she was ready for this as it wasn't that long since she'd died.

@RaraRachael Yes I think it was only last year that they lost her?
I wonder if the Father couldn't cope with it all.
I felt distinctly uncomfortable watching it and don't really know why!

Just catching up with ep 1 of the new series tonight.

I felt so sorry for the daughter - mother entirely taken up with trying again and again for another baby, then triplets all in such a short time, all three with a learning disability.

She seemed to be cast as additional mother, too - I do hope she has space to grow and be her own self as the boys hit adolescence.

Living in such close proximity is going to be hard for them, but her calm and serene new room will be a haven then!

100% agree with this. My OH is very precious about what I do with things he gives me. After 20 years that’s a lot of stuff!

This week my OH brought my kids a novelty lolly from somewhere he visited on his holiday in Australia and got weird when my youngest ate his: "but it's a souvenir!"

For.him I think it's related to his ADHD, and issues around object permanence. He brought over some items of his and left them on my shelves and seems to think if I get rid of them/ask him to take them back it's because I don't love him and don't want reminders of him in my home. No, it's just something I'm not interested in taking up space!

Interesting behind the scenes on insta (misterCarrington) for those wondering how much the 4 main people actually did! Think they said 70 people were in the house 😱

ithinkicanithinkican · 09/03/2025 08:29

@stargazer02 70 people! Blimey! What the hell must the production budget be on this show!

ithinkicanithinkican · 09/03/2025 08:34

@stargazer02 Ooh, I've just watched that, so interesting! Thanks for sharing.

the80sweregreat · 09/03/2025 08:44

They must spend a lot on the warehouse part ( lorries , cost of hire of the warehouse, the people to arrange it all ) but maybe not as much in the actual house ?
Do the owners have to contribute to the costs ?

ThisIsMyYearToFindMyself · 09/03/2025 08:51

I want someone to spill the beans on how long it really takes. I know the families will have signed a contract, but I bet some neighbours are curtain twitching when it’s all going on.

And how do they lay it all out so neatly and in order? Like, how would you even begin to try and find some order to it all?

the80sweregreat · 09/03/2025 08:56

To lay out every single item they haven't already thrown away must take a few days. All that China the other day was beautifully arranged , the clothes are on rails or folded up and so on
The family must have to move into a hotel or air b and b or with other family whilst it's been done too.

RaraRachael · 09/03/2025 09:44

We also see the family waving goodbye to one medium sized van as their "300 or so boxes go off to the warehouse". It must be several vans or removal vans for the amount of stuff some families have.

Me too.

Always amazes me in soaps and dramas when they have one bag or a box and move away with hardly anything !
I don't tend to hoard or have a lot of things, but I'd still need a large ish removal lorry for the bigger items and so on.

TickingAlongNicely · 09/03/2025 09:56

I reckon they must have a few staff advising on the decluttering as well.

And they move in and are unpacked within a couple of hours.

And always with open boxes.

What happens to the boxes and wrapping paper?
