I actually like this year's Apprentice a lot. There are a lot of strong, sensible candidates. Tre, Paul, Rachel, Feluso, Flo, Steve. They are all strong in their own ways, and charming. Not so sure about Phil. I didn't like how he was going with Flo's flow in today's task.
In conclusion, I think having more mature candidates works out better.

Watching YBF for the first time!

What did you think?

Acatdance · 28/03/2024 22:30

Maura has annoyed me throughout the series. When she said she'd been screaming because she 'took her energy' from the people on the production side - Angry. People who go on about their 'energy' and other semi-woo bollocks are irritating at the best of times, but when they use that crap to push the blame on others, it takes the biscuit.

AnImaginaryCat · 28/03/2024 22:30

I don't like how Phil coppd out of all responsibilities in this task. Tried to make our he couldn't make any decision on the price because of his heavy technical work load - which it seems amounted to putting in the new lower price.

It was ok but I don't think I will watch it again. I already watch too much TV! I thought Raj came across well and it's nice to see a woman with a business plan that does not involve selling cupcakes or beauty products.

I think Paul may go to the final 3.

MadCatLady27 · 28/03/2024 22:34

Watching now on catch up

Does anyone remember the infamous "Simon and the bouncer" shopping channel task? 😂

The cost of the laundry pen?! They needed to get more of the toot off it, it didn't look clean

Also that paddling pool held the tiniest amount of water, also the fact they said you could have "adults fun" in it 😂

THE APPRENTICE - AN AMUSING & CLASSIC MOMENT THAT DID NOT IMPRESS SIR ALAN

In this clip from the 2007 series, we see the eventual winner Simon demonstrating a trampoline on live TV via a shopping channel. However, he has not given m...

I agree. But I think Lord Sugar was well aware of this and didn't like it. Phil does keep in the background quite a lot.

MadCatLady27 · 28/03/2024 22:35

I'd have targeted that walking machine for people with desk jobs helping keep their legs moving

(Not that I'd get one far too lazy)

CousinGreg55 · 28/03/2024 22:36

That's a good idea

It does feel a bit more mature this year. Less fake tan, slug brows and inflatable lips than the last couple of years.

I'm glad Flo got away with the price dropping. Surprised Phil got away with the buck-passing. Paul did really well and it was an error not making the most of him. It was Flo that got him in front of the camera in the first place so that was a stategic plus to her which wasn't seen in the boardroom edits. While Raj has generally been strong, her logo for the van was poor last week and there were a few levels of weakness this week with presenting, deploying her team and strategy.

What was her business plan? Just out of interest! Sorry I'm sure I could look it up.

MadCatLady27 · 28/03/2024 23:29

Definitely agree they're more competent than we've had in a long time

Who knew finally picking people for their competency rather than love island clones makes the programme much more watchable and creditable!

DoggUncertainty · 29/03/2024 01:34

Maura reminds me so much of “I’m so beautiful” Samantha Brick!!!

Tigresswoods · 29/03/2024 06:55

IGotItFromAgnes · 28/03/2024 22:23

Maura was useless at selling, but what a sad life you must lead if you are complaining about the presenter on a shopping channel

That really made me laugh!

CrushingOnRubies · 29/03/2024 08:00

A type of short term loan company which released funds for buying property and bigger purchases

NetZeroZealot · 29/03/2024 08:59

Is that the 3rd food related challenge next week? Very dull.

And there's n o way any of them will be able to make nice vegan cheese. Even M&S can't do that.

OccasionalHope · 29/03/2024 09:10

I reckon Phil’s pie business must be £££.

TitsInAbsentia · 29/03/2024 12:19

Definitely missing a trick by not filming Lord Shugs watching the shopping channel task - we want entertaining!

But anyway....it's time for me to post the link...I've just watched it again and I'm still crying!

James Max's Wolf Jacket - The Apprentice TV Gold!

This is the moment when Saira Khan reveals the wolf jacket to James Max for the first time.... from this BAFTA winning episode of the first series of The App...

IGotItFromAgnes · 29/03/2024 12:23

I’d forgotten that!

It does show how much the series has changed. They actually got time to prepare their sales pitch.

They're still popular down at ASDA 😁

Thinking about it, the number of contestants has increased so have they condensed the time spent per task to fit more episodes in to the filming time at a loss of preparation.

I miss the conventions. Not disimilar to the TV shopping in terms of skills of selecting products and selling, but a bit more variety of product.
They also don't seem to have had to select a product (e.g. artwork), negotiate and win over the person producing it who got the call on which team represented them to sell on comission if both teams wanted the same product.

Create/ brand/ sell has been used quite heavily in recent years. It ties in with the skills to launch a business but has become repetitive, especially when the conditions seem to be too tightly restrained to really do the teams credit.

Maybe Phil got the reprieve this time because it's food again and regardless of his record-breaking win count, he should be strong as its his field...

theconfidenceofwho · 29/03/2024 15:09

Just watched it. Phil should definitely have gone - a 9-0 loss is too much. Raj should have stayed given her record was 8-1. Maura deserved to go but I'm annoyed Phil has another chance. Even a triple firing would have been better!

TitsInAbsentia · 29/03/2024 15:41

It's going to look REALLY bad if Phil flunks this next task!

theconfidenceofwho · 29/03/2024 15:59

I hope he does @TitsInAbsentia & then is sacked as his record is so poor and he has tried to coast through the whole process. His behaviour with Flo & telling her that the price drops were up to her was total slopey shoulders & Lord Sugar should have sacked him for that alone!
