He remained calm under pressure, he took opportunities presented to him and not only ran with them but used them to form new strategies E.g. speaking up to banish Paul thus making himself look like the hero, and the shield double bluff. So no, he was proactive.

@CaramelMac didn’t say he wasn’t proactive though.

He didn’t win solely by the reasons Caramrl listed, but he absolutely concealed his threat level. He played the cheeky chappy but not especially bright trope. He said he was going to do this/was doing this in the programme.

Right, have to stop obsessing over this and go to bed. Nice watching with you all. Satisfying end for me, unlike S 1.

I am beginning Oz Traitors tomorrow!

"Felt so sorry for Mollie. Goodness knows what crap he told her behind the scenes"

🤷🏽‍♀️ that's the game

Yes, that’s what I meant, he was clever and devious but he also hid it from the others very well.

Yep, and the others also shrugged off accusations yet didn't get believed. Harry barely got accused once, even when he was being really cocky

laclochette · 26/01/2024 23:33

It's armchair psychology of course but I think you can argue that Jaz's sad family history and resulting trust issues both made him a great player, and stopped him from being good enough to win. He was less blindly trusting than anyone else - but he also couldn't bring himself to take others into his trust until it was too late ie before Evie got banished.

CaveMum · 26/01/2024 23:33

Evie getting a dig in about the Traitors not recruiting women on Uncloaked 🤣

Ed asked if they thought they’d ever have a series where the Traitors worked together again, Evie responded that they might if they have women!

OF COURSE a good traitor is a liar in real life! Where do you think they get to be so good at manipulating people?

Saying "it's just playing the game" is the same as believing a world class tennis player just rocks up with no extensive practice and wins a grand slam. It's been fascinating to watch proper psychopaths in action, but I'm amazed anyone thinks they're going to be lovely fluffy bunnies irl.

It doesn't mean they act that way in real life though.
The faithful are fair game, they know what they've signed up to.
People you encounter in real life are not fair game.
They might be able to lie and manipulate, doesn't mean they will all the time.

I genuinely think they should do a series where they don’t reveal who the traitors are to the viewers - it’s so easy for us to judge the faithfuls! It must be hard. Would be interesting to see if the general public can work out who the traitors are 🤔

Not sure that there is any 'behind the scenes' they are pretty much mic'd up the whole time so that production can be sure that they are playing the game properly (as well as capture the narrative). But she had clearly got a crush on him and rightly or wrongly, he exploited that.

Is there not a version like that on BBC3? I think I heard that and I agree I think I might watch that if there is such a programme next year

RayonSunrise · 26/01/2024 23:05

It's a double edged sword being a good traitor in this game - you win, but you're revealed on a national stage as a lying untrustworthy shit who no-one should ever trust. 95k isn't a lot to carry that reputation around, unless you can make people so impressed with you they'll forgive anything...

I had to respond to this.

Harry is, at 23, a well trained soldier.

He was given a task. He strategised his task. He performed it, with some near misses, to the best of his ability, knowing the goal, in this case 'to win the money'.

You're weeping all over it.

I'm glad our armed forces are still training young people to be so strategic.

I'm sad for Mollie. But her puppy-love for Harry blinded her.

Much of MN is women ignoring their heads as their hearts shout louder. 🥺

I think they may do that in the future as they’ll have to keep changing up the format.

But they’ll be cobsidering it carefully from a legal point of view to make sure they’re not like other problems. Doing this is basically the USP to a certain extent of the programme The Mole.

JudgeJ · 26/01/2024 23:43

MothersofGorgons · 26/01/2024 23:04

But @WriterOfWrongs surely it's obvious Harry doesn't give a shit about Mollie.

They knew each other for three weeks and they're not there to make friends! Some people don't seem to understand the premise of the game.

WriterOfWrongs · 26/01/2024 23:43

Not like other PROGRAMMES, not problems.

I do agree he played that role a lot of the time, though he also chose to voice things (such as Paul banishment) , but the reality was he was also proactive. My complaint about the women was that they really were not doing much at all in the way of putting themselves forward and trying to figure it out.

The problem is they are around each other for 16+ hours a day and as a TV audience we only see an hour including the task and the round table. It would be impossible to tell who the traitors are because we would never know what the edit isn't showing us.

Absolutely agree here. He played it brilliantly. If it was all full of people playing nicely none of us would watch. He was a great traitor.

And who do you mean by that?

I said as the final was beginning to play that I believed he deserved to win because he played the game well.

Yeah I see where you’re coming from so there would have to be more of a broadcast for the viewers to have more of an idea who the traitors might be. I do think it’ll get a bit boring after a few series of the same format though…
