What happens if the traiters outnumber faithful? Will they intervene and convert a traiter back to faithful?

That's when the traitors win. That's the whole point.

CrapBucket · 11/01/2024 13:40

I would quite like to see a series of this with no traitors in, but the Faithfuls aren’t told that. And murders just done by a random number generator.

AfraidToRun · 11/01/2024 13:40

Hah oh god, I'm not usually this stupid.

How many people are in the final? Just trying to work out if the show might end early.

Or a series where we aren’t told who the traitors are so we have to guess along with them!

AmyandPhilipfan · 11/01/2024 13:42

Did Evie vote for Ash? If she did then I think the faithful might think Ash was pissed that another traitor was stabbing her in the back and therefore voted for her. So I think there will be some Evie talk at the round table tonight.

Or with two groups of competing traitors, but neither group is told about the other and murders only happen if both groups choose to kill the same person - could do it so that the assumption would be that the murder failed because of shields

Stowickthevast · 11/01/2024 13:52

@AfraidToRun there are 5 people in the final and they have a series of votes.

But they won't end early. If the faithful guess the traitors then they get to recruit again. I think Richard Osman said the game isn't really to find the traitors, it's to survive to the end.

It's worth watching a couple of the other series. NZ S1 for clever Faithful's and Aus S2 for an even more annoying than Paul experience.

Nesbi · 11/01/2024 13:55

Alex played a cut throat but incredibly successful game in Oz Traitors season 1. Hide in the pack for most of it, use tears to make a nice (but gullible) older guy feel protective towards you, then knife him like an assassin at the end!!

They can't do that because they know who the traitors are. So impossible to then play as a faithful

WoolyMammoth55 · 11/01/2024 14:02

It seems like the traitors either have to go low status or high status, basically. Wilf went low status - who me? I'm just a friendly lad with nothing to hide.

Harry has gone low - little lost baby just hopes everyone likes him.

Paul has gone high - I'm an untouchable evil genius, grovel before me.

Miles is going low but because he's physically big and also charming and magnetic, he actually has lots of soft power... It'll be interesting to see how that goes.

Poor Ash flip flopped around with no strategy so that didn't work well - on many levels...

I didn't know there was an Aus season 2, I LOVED season 1. Do you know where you can watch both? :)

Stowickthevast · 11/01/2024 14:23

@periodiclabel they're on a website called Daily Motion. You'll need an ad blocker.

AUS S2 will drive you mad but worth persevering!

periodiclabel · 11/01/2024 14:25

Thanks @Stowickthevast - there will be no productivity here for months I can see ... also will have US Traitors 2 to catch up on, though that's my least favourite

whosaidtha · 11/01/2024 14:39

I always thought it would be better if the traitors prize pot was built on whatever they failed to bank. So the traitors could sabotage the games. Because honestly they have nothing to go on and are just stabbing in the dark every day.

whosaidtha · 11/01/2024 14:41

@CaramelMac I thought this. I wonder if it would work? Would be interesting. I think Harry would be top of my suspect list. But probably only because I know it's him.

I think his 'I don't know anything about anyone' act is going to wear thin very quickly.

He might not necessarily keep it up. Hopefully he won't anyway.

Can't watch Uncloaked - wrong region 😟

prettygirlincrimsonrose · 11/01/2024 14:55

@whosaidtha there's a series called The Mole based on one person sabotaging tasks and losing the team money. Was on channel 5 like 20/25 years ago, and then rebooted on Netflix last year (although some shout at the tv stupidity on display in that one). People leave on the basis of not figuring out enough about the mole (they do a quiz) but a few moles and traitor style discussions/banishments would be interesting.

WoolyMammoth55 · 11/01/2024 15:02

@AnImaginaryCat they have the audio version on BBC sounds - can you get that? It's worth tracking down!

That actually rings a bell. Was it American? It just gives you more ideas because I think they are just lucky they got ash. No skill or deduction skills really.

Dp and I said similar last night. Some form of sabotage would be good in the missions

CrushingOnRubies · 11/01/2024 15:35

Paul reminds me of one of the chefs in Great British Menu. He was a contestant and his now one of the judges one of the weeks

prettygirlincrimsonrose · 11/01/2024 15:50

@whosaidtha the Netflix one was.

I play social deduction games sometimes and my problem with some like Werewolf/Traitors is a lack of information to work from. There's one called Avalon where the group needs to agree a team to go on the mission and then any bad guys can sabotage the mission (secret vote) and they have to sabotage at least three of 5 missions. But if good guys figure out who is bad they can effectively block them from going on missions, so bad guys have to try and deflect blame onto other players as to who actually sabotaged the mission, plus lots to discuss about who people put on teams, who approves teams for missions etc (which is all public). Probably wouldn't work on tv but feels like there could be other options where the traitors have to do more during the day that would give the whole group more to discuss than how quiet people are (and I guess how they respond to accusations etc.)

the game unfolds over 3/4 weeks IRL, right?

I think it's much shorter than that - one night per episode ish, so around 12 nights - less than two weeks.

The traitors are given riskier things to do (though not as risky as sabotage), to give the faithful a chance - they're about to do the 'murder in plain site' task, and then there was a very revealing task about 'who do you trust?' At a later stage last year, that I think helped them.
