I found the video of calendar girls for 99p when i was away! and i got to go in a speedboat at 60 miles an hour standing up in the front too!! Shades of the first episode of A2A!!!!

edam · 03/04/2008 16:47

There's no reason to Get A Life when Dr Who starts soon...

SqueeeeBaroo · 03/04/2008 17:04

Oh, he's so young and coy in calendar girls.

Yes - is it Robert Glenister, he was in Hustle, wasn't he. Definitely not so handsome, but you can definitely tell they're brothers.

SqueeeeBaroo · 05/04/2008 11:17

Poor Robert Glenister. It's got to be a real kick in the ego to be known as 'Phil Glenister's uglier brother'

hippipotami · 05/04/2008 16:29

But Philip is not handsome either now, is he?? I mean, if it was not for Gene Hunt, but PG was just your average bloke working at Homebase, would you look twice?? Really??
Coz I def would not.

Robert is creepier looking though, he has got some strange pinched mouth thingy going on.

JackieNo · 05/04/2008 16:47

Know what you mean, hippipotami - it's the whole thing where the character is more appealing than the actor (as with Sharpe and Sean Bean).

SqueeeeBaroo · 05/04/2008 17:05

Well, that was kind of the joke

But actually, although I have been firmly on the side of fancying-Gene-Hunt-and-not-PG (Is that kind of liking Kevin bacon, but hating Footloose?) I was watching Hornblower the other day, and giddy aunt, the sea doesn't half set off his eyes well as Gunner Hobbs.

But in Homebase, probably not. There's laws and stuff.

JackieNo · 05/04/2008 17:10

You could drag him behind the garden furniture and ravish him, I reckon. Maybe in a shower cubicle... aha - I know - in a garden shed.

SqueeeeBaroo · 05/04/2008 17:17

I think the Homebase uniform is probably not quite as nice, though.

lottiejenkins · 05/04/2008 17:19

Do Homebase sell beds? that could have possibilities?

SqueeeeBaroo · 05/04/2008 17:25

We got a pine bunkbed from homebase, but I'm not sure it's what you had in mind

hippipotami · 05/04/2008 19:12

Oh my gawd Sue, that is a fab picture...

So far I have been definately in the fancying GH but not PG camp, but you are making a compelling argument for PG with that picture....

So what about poor old RH, not fanciable? Even if he had been GH??

hippipotami · 05/04/2008 19:14

That would be RG, not RH (see, am getting all muddled now...)

keepcalmandcarryon · 05/04/2008 19:58

right, I completely give up on reality now.

You know when you're nervous at being interviewed for a job, you're supposed to imagine your interviewer on the loo? So, in a vain attempt to stop excessively thinking about the entirely fictional character of Gene Hunt, have been imagining him in the least attractive scenario I can imagine, that of man flu.

And it was working, really, really well.

Until I came across this (slight smut warning)

There is no hope for me - this character is unforgivably sexy, even WITH A COLD.

SqueeeeBaroo · 05/04/2008 20:02

roffle, you poor thing keepcalm. Best not read my latest attempt, then. 'tis much ruder than that.

hippipotami, it is a lovely picture, isn't it? I don't have too many appallingly nice pictures on my hard drive and in my links, me, oh no....

keepcalmandcarryon · 05/04/2008 20:18

oh, too late squee, have already read it [thank you], but wouldn't link to it, far too rude for a random link

SqueeeeBaroo · 05/04/2008 20:38

I'm all embarrassed, like. [innocent]

(Um, do you mean the one on lj?)

keepcalmandcarryon · 05/04/2008 20:44

Yes, the lj one. I'm looking forward to round two...

SqueeeeBaroo · 05/04/2008 20:51

oh golly, that's the rudest one I've ever written.

Well, there was that one about the Doctor and Martha in the tardis, but apart from that...

keepcalmandcarryon · 05/04/2008 21:04

Crikey, if you put Gene in a Tardis, the effects would be uncontainable.

[wanders off to ponder new-as-yet-unimagined-possibilities in a small puffy pink cloud of happiness]

JackieNo · 05/04/2008 21:10

I'm still imagining him in a shed [groin]
