I think it's out tomorrow

pregnantmum36 · 06/12/2023 20:45

So annoying. I cooked a lovely dinner and got all cosy ready for the final episode. They definitely said the 6th December 😩

dapsnotplimsolls · 06/12/2023 20:57

I think it's being released at the same time everywhere so 2am here. Arse.

dapsnotplimsolls · 06/12/2023 21:04

But the good news is that Season 2 is going ahead and applications are open ...

EarlofShrewsbury · 06/12/2023 21:05

It says 9pm PST which I think is 5am here.

Well according to Google it is

dapsnotplimsolls · 06/12/2023 21:05

9pm EST I think, which is 2am here.

TitsInAbsentia · 07/12/2023 09:27

I'm watching it now.....

I was surprised to learn this was filmed in the UK (East London)

reesewithoutaspoon · 07/12/2023 13:38

I watched it this morning. No spoilers but I was happy with the result

SecondUsername4me · 07/12/2023 15:05

I was listening to the new Richard Osman podcast today and they chatted about this show. Apparently the most expensive game show ever - he was full of praise. Said they'd done a blinding job of being so immersive that the contestants would be genuinely sucked into the whole "you are likely to die" vibe.

susiedaisy1912 · 07/12/2023 18:09

What a great last episode. Really happy with the outcome.

susiedaisy1912 · 07/12/2023 18:37

Just watching the behind the scenes program on how it was made.

Can anyone tell me if this would be suitable for a 7 year old who likes things like Takeshi’s Castle, Ninja Warrior and Beastmaster?
He has obviously not seen the Squid Game drama, nor have we.

Hmmm I don't know I'd say so- there's not violence, or swearing (I don't think anyway, can't remember any), and really there isn't any 'terror' as such unlike the drama. I don't know if a 7 year old would enjoy it though, there's a lot of focus of the emotional and group dynamic side rather than the challenges themselves in my opinion.

No spoilers but I'm gutted by the result tbh.

Stokey · 07/12/2023 20:06

Me too @Peablockfeathers I was really rooting for the Brits!

SD1978 · 07/12/2023 20:23

Utter bollocks. The over the top acting, squeeling, and general actions put us right off. We tried to watch episode 1, but fast forwarded most of it every time one of them started to speak. Couldn't face wasting time on another episode

cakeorwine · 07/12/2023 20:27

Enjoyed it. Hope they enjoyed their final meal - and how do you play rock, paper, scissors so you win!!

cakeorwine · 07/12/2023 20:32

Watching the making of it. No wonder the first game took so long. Each "movement" had to be signed off by a judge

TitsInAbsentia · 07/12/2023 21:43

REally?! I'm going to have to watch the making of!

dapsnotplimsolls · 07/12/2023 21:46

I bet the British woman with the yellow streaks in her hair would have been awesome at the final game!

It seems the honeycomb game took a lot of effort to get the right consistency of honeycomb.

Mai said that she'd played the game since childhood, that she'd noted men tended to pick the more aggressive choices of rock or scissors, and that as she went along she was taking note of and remembering Phill’s choices each round, so that she could make an educated guess on what move he’d do next.

I'm so glad she won.

cottonstar · 07/12/2023 22:15

I thought the final was great and I was very happy with the result.

I’m very happy to hear there’s a ‘making of’!

I think my under 12s (it’s rated 12) would enjoy it, though they’re older than 7. I don’t think there’s anything that bad in it, it’s certainly not in the same league as the main show. They get fake shot in some games, but it’s very obviously fake. However I probably won’t let them watch it as they’d probably go into school saying they’ve watched ‘squid game’!

dapsnotplimsolls · 07/12/2023 22:24

I suspect kids would die of boredom at all the weeping and wailing. I very nearly did.

burnoutbabe · 07/12/2023 23:01

Where is the making of show?

I enjoyed it overall. Pity no brits made it to the final.

It was just after the finale. Came on automatically.

Interesting to watch - it would have been interesting to have a "behind the scenes" at guard school.
