If they carry the votes over until next week, the overall scores will be very high, as each couple dances two dances in the semi-final. Not sure how that would work with the public vote. If the bottom couple scored 7s for each dance, that would be a total of 84 (28 x 3), and if the top couple scored all 10s (120), that would be a very large gap. Would that affect anything with the voting?? I need to ask my eldest son, who's a stats/maths guy.

Guess there's no way around it though. Deliberately creating a two-person final at this stage doesn't seem sensible.

This is my first year watching Strictly. Is it always this much of a shitshow?

I only started watching in 2016, and thought it's gone downhill every year.

It's certainly not as entertaining as it used to be. I reall can't stand head judge Shirley with all her OTT praise and obvious dislike to some contestants, and handing out 10s like Smarties from week 3.

This series feels very off to me.

No, this is turning out to be an unusually chaotic year. It usually runs much more smoothly. Even in the Covid social-distancing ones I think it went better!

Two person finals are officially rubbish and giving someone a bye into the semi-finals (even if they are likely to have got there anyway) seems a tad unfair.

I say scrap the elimination this week. Go wild.

It's a shame as well as Nigel is obviously a fan favourite, he's quite exciting to watch as he's both good but not guaranteed to pull things off, he was really looking forward to Musicals Week, and the Charleston could have been his dance.

Again, ban two-person finals.

Such a shame about Nigel, hoping they might skip this week’s elimination. They can do it a la Bake Off and go through the motions right up until the moment the decision is made.

Tony is a bit of an odd one out there because he withdrew before doing a dance off which he would certainly have lost. The other great contestant who withdrew was Kelly whose surname temporarily escapes me from Alesha's (?) year.

I'd love to see AJ dancing again though, and I'm gutted for Katya and for us all to have been robbed of their Argentine Tango which should have been epic.

Not remotely practical given the final's status as a TV Event. All the previous contestants, the musical guest star, the BBC Schedules for the weekend are all booked in for the Saturday the week before Xmas
