My MIL taught in Turkey in the 1960s - her classes had previously been taught by a very posh Edinburgh lady and all the kids spoke English with a Morningside accent.

Another annoying habit they have all slipped into (yes , you too Marcus, though I am sure it is Greggggs bad influence 11) is saying cookery instead of cooking.

” I was not happy with the cookery of the scallops” instead of “ I was not happy with the cooking of the scallops”

it has been annoying me for a while now. But I will try not spit when I hear it because I am above all ,a lady.

At least they haven’t started saying cuisson yet @viques!
