Whoop s2 is back

I enjoyed s1

Link here. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/telly_addicts/4262214-TIME-SUNDAY-BBC-9pm-no-spoilers

Assume s1 is on iPlayer so worth a watch if haven't seen

Don't think they are linked as such as different characters this time apart from Chaplin

The series is an anticipated follow-up of the first season, which saw Stephen Graham and Sean Bean take on lead roles as a conflicted prison officer and a former teacher consumed by guilt and demons from his own past.

According to the synopsis: "Time is a moving and high-stakes portrayal of life inside a women's prison. Arriving at Carlingford Prison on the same day, Kelsey (Bella Ramsey), Orla (Jodie Whittaker) and Abi (Tamara Lawrance) are thrown together to face an unfamiliar world.

"But even with the ever-present threat of violence within its walls, they discover that an unexpected sense of community, and a shared understanding, still might be possible."

Reprising her role for season 2 is Siobhan Finneran, who most recently can be seen in The Reckoning (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/reckoning-release-date-jimmy-savile-bbc/), and will be once again starring as prison chaplain Marie-Louise.

Speaking about her return to the series, she said: "I am delighted to be returning for Time 2. It was a privilege to be involved in the first series and t
o be asked back is an honour, the scripts are again heartbreakingly brilliant."

Oh my God , that was so sad but at least a glimmer of light for them when it ended . I thought the acting was fantastic too .

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/11/2023 14:19

Yes they pulled their lives around

Maybe another series will show more compassion to a mum suffering from pnd

Oh I absolutely wept throughout that last episode. As I said earlier in the thread, my friend who worked in a women's prison had to take children away from their mothers - she said it was heart wrenching 😥

LadyEloise1 · 14/11/2023 10:34

I was fearful that Kelsey would be attacked by a mate of Adam's as she walked to meet her baby.

I was really surprised there were no supports for Orla when she left the prison. Offering her a tent Shock
Surely this doesn't happen in the UK, does it ?

Poor Abi. I would have thought that there are better supports for women with PND in the UK and she would be treated more leniently in court.

          Trigger Warning

Recently in Ireland two paediatric nurses have killed their children, so desperately sad. One also killed herself in the process.
Utterly heartbreaking.

I was also fearful for Kelsey when she was released from prison - I said to DH that this is one of those occasions where she may be safer inside.

I read an article recently about this series (which contained a couple of spoilers for me but I can't help myself!😬). The article said that the tent scene was 100% accurate - this really does happen in today's society in the UK. I wonder what Suella would say about that .......

LadyEloise1 · 14/11/2023 12:07

I am absolutely gobsmacked that this happens. I live in Ireland and tbh I don't know what happens here but never thought the women would be handed a tent.
Is there not some dedicated post prison team to help released prisoners back on their feet ?
I thought the UK was regarded as a " poster boy" for how to do things right - in theory anyway.
Who signed off on the "tent project" ?

You see what Jimmy Mc Govern has done there - Got us talking about the rights and wrongs of the prison system. I'm sure that was his aim.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/11/2023 12:37

Yes a tent seems insane

Lifestyle choice of course

Jewel1968 · 14/11/2023 20:49

My question was - where did Kelsey go to live after prison? How did she avoid the shocking tent scenario.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/11/2023 21:57

Kelsey wouid have gone to a mothers unit maybe ?

Tho obv didn't have baby

Or friends ?

But the. Didn't orla have any friends 🥲

Did anyone notice before the 3rd episode came on the BBC narrator / voice person warned us about suicide?

They didn't mention the killing of a child though / PND?

I assumed Kelsey might have taken her own life. Unless I misheard?

Romeiswheretheheartis · 15/11/2023 07:30

@blackfluffycat yes, they did say that, and I also thought it was going to be Kelsey. They will have been referring to Abi attempting to take her own life.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/11/2023 08:12

I did wonder at that

As literally shows her in the sea obv trying to drown herself like she did to Daniel

I didn't think it needed a warning via Abi

But should if for Daniel

OP posts:
blackfluffycat · 15/11/2023 13:29

Yes should have been a warning for Daniel. Also fancy Kelsey naming her baby Daniel. Must have asked Abi first but still?

Can't see Abi and her husband together. Horrible man.

The crying for a few minutes sent me crazy so god knows how she and others feel. Not the same but my DH works away and I'm autistic and I can't stand my kids fighting and screaming. Luckily I coped a bit better when they were babies.

LadyEloise1 · 15/11/2023 13:48

Was Abi's husband a doctor or nurse ?
She says when she rang him at the hospital she was told he was in theatre.

The fact that he has another partner and a baby on the way - no consequences for his inaction in helping Abi ( in a way of course as he lost Daniel ). Will he be any better as a husband and father ?

@blackfluffycat I don't think she knew Abi baby was called Daniel

Just she liked the name

As she guessed in the circle group what dead baby's name was

As did I when. Kelsey passed her baby over to her and said this is Daniel

Ans Abi looked at her weirdly

I found it desperately sad but (from my limited knowledge) realistic, the tent thing didn't surprise me at all. I thought it highlighted the knock-on effect on women who go to prison really well, whole lives completely obliterated for the sake of a 3 month sentence, kids, house, job, all gone. Also how completely the wrong man relationship can fuck up your life, as seemed to be the case for both Kelsey and Abi in entirely different ways. Orla's story reminded me a bit of Maid (on Netflix), how everything is stacked against single mums and how difficult 'the system' makes things.

Paul2023 · 15/11/2023 20:11

Im fully aware that single mums have it tough,I know because my sister in law is one. Yes it does seem the system can make things difficult.
But no one is forced to break the law, and why would a single mum with everything to lose risk going to prison in the first place?

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/11/2023 20:14

@Paul2023 cos she wanted to heat /light /have a tv etx in her house

Presumably because it was the only way she could provide electricity for her kids. She didn't appear to have any support apart from her alcoholic mother who presumably had no money either. Obviously what she did was wrong but I'm not sure it warranted blowing up what little bit of a life she had managed to build for her kids.

Which is exactly why I was surprised a first time offence , a single mother of 3 kids, needed to serve a short sentence in the first place.
Don’t see how it helped the justice system .
