Whoop s2 is back

I enjoyed s1

Link here. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/telly_addicts/4262214-TIME-SUNDAY-BBC-9pm-no-spoilers

Assume s1 is on iPlayer so worth a watch if haven't seen

Don't think they are linked as such as different characters this time apart from Chaplin

The series is an anticipated follow-up of the first season, which saw Stephen Graham and Sean Bean take on lead roles as a conflicted prison officer and a former teacher consumed by guilt and demons from his own past.

According to the synopsis: "Time is a moving and high-stakes portrayal of life inside a women's prison. Arriving at Carlingford Prison on the same day, Kelsey (Bella Ramsey), Orla (Jodie Whittaker) and Abi (Tamara Lawrance) are thrown together to face an unfamiliar world.

"But even with the ever-present threat of violence within its walls, they discover that an unexpected sense of community, and a shared understanding, still might be possible."

Reprising her role for season 2 is Siobhan Finneran, who most recently can be seen in The Reckoning (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/reckoning-release-date-jimmy-savile-bbc/), and will be once again starring as prison chaplain Marie-Louise.

Speaking about her return to the series, she said: "I am delighted to be returning for Time 2. It was a privilege to be involved in the first series and t
o be asked back is an honour, the scripts are again heartbreakingly brilliant."

Thank you @Blondeshavemorefun. An excellent cast and gripping. DD has two friends who work in a prison. I wonder what they would make of it.

Do ask them please.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/10/2023 09:30

Also seems different from the hard core male Prison in time s1

I enjoyed it but had to look away at points. I am interested to find out more about their backstories.

I had a really violent dream last night. I am sure it was connected to Time!

KohlaParasaurus · 30/10/2023 14:06

Watching. Unusually, DH had identified it beforehand as something we might both like to watch, although Jodie Whittaker may have had something to do with that. We usually manage to be disciplined about sticking to TV pace.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/10/2023 14:16

What has Jodie Whittaker been in

crumblingschools · 30/10/2023 14:18

Broadchurch and Dr Who

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/10/2023 15:36

Just watched ep1 on catch up. Loved S1 with Stephen Graham. Fantastic cast for this series too. Recognised Faye McKeever who was fantastic. Just wondering if we will see Orla again (I’m sure we will) but in what capacity?! Only 3 episodes, was tempted to binge watch but will watch weekly!

LadyEloise1 · 30/10/2023 16:46

Gosh Time Series 1 was a hard watch.
I'm watching a joint Irish/ New Zealand thriller on at the moment on Sundays at 9.30 on RTE1 ( Irish tv ) called The Gone.
I think you'd really like it @Blondeshavemorefun.
No doubt it will be or has been released in the UK.
I record Time and will watch tonight.
My recording box is about to blow up as it's full to the brim of great shows to watch.

The trailer for the series had a bit with Orla in it that wasn't from last nights episode, definitely .

The gone. Kinda rings a bell @LadyEloise1

What is it about

Guessing all 3 will be in each Episode

The Gone is about a young Irish couple missing in New Zealand @Blondeshavemorefun

RampantIvy · 30/10/2023 18:39

I have just googled The Gone and it doesn't appear on any channels that we can watch it in the UK. I hope we do get to see it.

Series 1 of Time showed that Sean Bean can play other roles. I thought he was excellent in it.

Jodie Whittaker hails from my neck of the woods and I saw her in an early episode of Dalziel and Pascoe (in 2006).

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/10/2023 20:55

Fingers crossed gone comes soon

Prob on alibi

He was also brilliant in Broken , when he played a Priest .

I've just started watching... I worked in a Cat C Male prison for about 2 years. I watched the first series and it was VERY accurate! I've not been in a women's prison, so things may be a bit different - but a lot seems very familiar.

The only things which stood out for me were the visiting scenes. Firstly one of the MOST important things at visiting time seemed to be food! It was an opportunity for prisoners to have their visitors buy them food and drinks - whether that be from a hatch (our prison did a huge line in bacon and cheese toasties during visits) or chocolate from a vending machine. It was a really important aspect for the prisoners who didn't have access to much at other times.
Also the sniffer dogs - I think anyone would know that all visitors would have to pass the dogs - whatever they were in for. And finally the passing of the drugs mouth to mouth in that scene - that would have been spotted a mile off! The room is also full of officers watching every move.

Having said that, I'm really impressed with these series. I had colleagues who visited a women's prison and they were really affected by it. A lot of women are in for lesser crimes and many are victims of crime themselves. And the violence is accurate - there is a very strong culture 'prisoner justice' in prison!

gone is on Discovery plus which is free with Sky x

The programme I've seen is called The Gone not Gone.
Perhaps they are 2 different programmes?

the80sweregreat · 31/10/2023 20:02

I like Bella Ramsey and she did well in this.
I want to know why the other lady killed her baby :( I am guessing it might have been that she had PND and couldn't cope or something like that ?
It is a gritty drama at its finest , but then I do rate Jimmy McGovern as a writer and he is one of the best

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/10/2023 22:39

Yes also think was pnd ans we all know just coz rich and ans have money and a good flow etx doesn't mean can cope with a baby of always crying

I can only assume she didn't mean to kill

Or smothers or shook to shut baby up 🥲🥲

Tho would she actually get life for that

Other people seem to kill and out in a few years

It's a really hard watch.

Made me terrified of prisons.

I can't really understand why Orla's in there. It seems like she should have got community service or something like that.

But it also seemed like a prison with lots of freedom and yet clearly very shitty things happened there so I'm confused why there was so much freedom there.

The whole thing makes me worried

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/10/2023 23:48

Yes fiddling leccy seems harsh 6mths to 3
