Whoop s2 is back

I enjoyed s1

Link here. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/telly_addicts/4262214-TIME-SUNDAY-BBC-9pm-no-spoilers

Assume s1 is on iPlayer so worth a watch if haven't seen

Don't think they are linked as such as different characters this time apart from Chaplin

The series is an anticipated follow-up of the first season, which saw Stephen Graham and Sean Bean take on lead roles as a conflicted prison officer and a former teacher consumed by guilt and demons from his own past.

According to the synopsis: "Time is a moving and high-stakes portrayal of life inside a women's prison. Arriving at Carlingford Prison on the same day, Kelsey (Bella Ramsey), Orla (Jodie Whittaker) and Abi (Tamara Lawrance) are thrown together to face an unfamiliar world.

"But even with the ever-present threat of violence within its walls, they discover that an unexpected sense of community, and a shared understanding, still might be possible."

Reprising her role for season 2 is Siobhan Finneran, who most recently can be seen in The Reckoning (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/reckoning-release-date-jimmy-savile-bbc/), and will be once again starring as prison chaplain Marie-Louise.

Speaking about her return to the series, she said: "I am delighted to be returning for Time 2. It was a privilege to be involved in the first series and t
o be asked back is an honour, the scripts are again heartbreakingly brilliant."

Orla saying how much she lost within a few months was tough.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/11/2023 10:52

Yes assume council housing so can she re apply when has kids back

OP posts:
LadyEloise1 · 01/11/2023 11:25

Would that really happen - that she would be sent to jail with no plans put in place for her 3 children over an electricity bill ?

If it did, her lawyer must have been sh*t.

Do you have the Vincent de Paul society ( a voluntary charity ) in the UK who would assist someone in Orla's position to ensure she had electricity ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/11/2023 13:12

Does make you wonder @LadyEloise1

Seems a harsh punishment

Yes she broke the law

Maybe she was given a fine which obv wouidnt be able to pay

If she was on a low wage with her boss surely she would have had a uc top up /help with rent

I will watch this. I like Jimmy McGovern series. I thought the first series was good. Apparently it was very realistic which is shocking. I liked the JM series Moving On and Broken, with Sean Bean and Anna Friel.

lazymum99 · 01/11/2023 13:41

Not enough information given to understand why orla was given a custodial sentence.
maybe she had previously been given community service instead and now this. If a fine Can usually come to an agreement to pay a fine in instalments.
I imagine she was on a pay as you go meter and prob paying off debt with that as well. An impossible situation with a low wage

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/11/2023 14:48

Makes you feel very sorry for her

She was devastated when kids went into care

She knew her mum would let her down

Obv no sign of dad

Ans this is sadly true for some many mums

I was glued to this , felt for Orla and the one who's pregnant . Hope they'll all be in the rest of the series or is it different women each week . It'd be interesting to hear their back stories .

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/11/2023 17:20

I may 'cough' watch this at 8pm tomorrow as few things on 9pm

But obv won't post till 10pm and e2 finished

I think Jimmy McGovern was showing how things can go in a downward spiral if you are sent to prison.Honestly our justice system needs a complete overhaul but that will never happen.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/11/2023 20:11

@JSMill jimmy is very good at dramas

Up to 5 years in jail apparently -

Def a rough sentence

OP posts:
butterpuffed · 05/11/2023 21:04

I thought when someone questioned why she was sentenced she said there were other things involved but didn't say what .

Huntre · 05/11/2023 22:35

Do they allow access hot irons etc in prison ? Seems risky !

Good watch for the last bit was all a bit far fetched.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/11/2023 23:21

First few mins I thought nooooooooooo orla

Silly woman

Not surprised her older son is pissed off with her

No mention of dad. Assume he's buggered off

As often the way

Poor Kelsey and baby but glad he's ok tho 4w prem

Hopefully now abi helped delivering baby that the others may be kinder to her

Def sounds like pnd bless her and as I said before can effect the rich

I've had a few clients (I'm a maternity nurse) who have had millions and had pnd bless them 🥲

Didn't understand the card thing. Who sent her a card from her son when obv wasn't from her son as he hates her for kicking his preg wife

It does seem very relaxed there compared to male prison with phones etc

The card is the intriguing thing for me. Gripping storylines.

My telly went funny with bad connection for about 5min and must have completely missed the card thing, what was it?

KohlaParasaurus · 06/11/2023 09:39

One of the women opened a card, said it was from her son, and that she would fulfil a pact with God that she'd go to Mass if her son contacted her. The chaplain 'phoned the son to ask if he'd sent the card (I'm not sure she'd have been allowed to do that in real life) and he said he hadn't. So who, and why, and what's going to happen at Mass?

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/11/2023 12:54

Her son hadn't spoken to her for years as she kicked his wife her sil in the stomach when preg

Then she got a card apparently from
Him and sue to the pact she made she would go to mass if she heard from him

Card wasn't from son. He never wants to see her again

So yes who sent the card and wants her at mass and will harm her

Jesus that was harrowing

Paul2023 · 06/11/2023 20:23

I’m just watching part one. I worked in a male jail for a short time. A few inaccuracies but some things are realistic.
The red headed nurse I’ve seen on something - maybe Soldier Soldier?

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/11/2023 19:25

I thought she looked familiar as well
