Gutted over this. It's become a ritual watching and moaning with my mum.

martinisforeveryone · 18/10/2023 18:14

I've got to the the first responder. See what I did there? 😁

aaaw @Binglebong beat me to it and it would've worked so well too.

<Crashes through the door of The Mill to make an appointment >

LIZS · 18/10/2023 19:13

I guess it cannot survive on so few patients, most of whom never come back.

I kid you not. Acquaintance told last week of trying to make a GP appointment back in September, to be given a December date. They said 'I could be dead by then' Receptionist replied 'well you wouldn't need an appointment then'

Last nerves must be frayed but acquaintance has raised a complaint.

Turquoisa80 · 18/10/2023 19:25

I'm gutted, think it's great. It captures that afternoon feeling well in that it's not fast paced but with stories and characters that held my attention

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 18/10/2023 19:27

Gutted. I guess Casualty will be next.

FuzzyPuffling · 18/10/2023 19:36

It's not really been the same for me since Valerie left. Loved her and her badger dress.

Raahh · 18/10/2023 20:06

Fabulous thread title, Madison. Grin

It is our rubbish. It's a lunchtime institution.

(I'm still not over the demise of Holby. Tuesdays have never been the same.).

If the final scene isn't Jimmi locking up, whilst singing, I will feel robbed.

We need old characters to return for a finale a la Neighbours. Valerie in her badger dress and the ghost of Geoffrey!

lazarusb · 18/10/2023 20:47

Gutted. This is what I watch when I'm home alone and want something I don't have to think about too much.

Finishingoff · 18/10/2023 20:47

Maybe we can petition Amazon Freevee to pick it up as they did with Neighbours!!

Mrsjaffacakeys · 18/10/2023 20:58

I'm disappointed too 😔

starfishmummy · 18/10/2023 22:05

They'd save much more money by cancelling Eastenders...
Hands off Doctors!!

Oh now that's an idea!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/10/2023 23:24

Oh I’ve just seen this thread. I watch it twice a year. Hallowe’en and Christmas (well the last couple of episodes before the break for Christmas)
Off to search up the old threads to get me up to speed

girljulian · 19/10/2023 00:01

Hugely miserable at this news!! I adore Doctors, I evangelise it to everyone. It is unapologetically my favourite programme.

Celibacyinthesticks · 19/10/2023 00:39

Absolutely gutted.

You get the honoury first comment. A pun that fine should be rewarded.

Binglebong · 19/10/2023 01:04

My guess is the regulars will now be looking for new jobs and if they get them ask to be written out early. There may be no-one there by December 24.

Celibacyinthesticks · 19/10/2023 01:15

Not only am I gutted but I’m actually angry, I expect we will get some cheap Aussie import to replace it, I don’t want Australian crappy soaps I want homegrown soaps that I can relate to with all the British idiosyncrasies. The cast and crew must be devastated, the lame excuse the BBC gave for binning it off is pathetic, how much would it really cost to revamp the site, it’s not as if it’s a listed building that would cost a fortune, it’s a flimsy modern box in a car park. The BBC give no thought to their audience, they are only interested in a certain demographic that is abundantly clear.

Raahh · 19/10/2023 07:26

Bingle that's the danger, isn't it- but some have been there so long- what else will they do?

I can't imagine what the 'big' ending will be either- because apparently filming will end in March (allowing for all the summer breaks for the Olympics and things, that will give enough episodes til December, presumably). So the scripts must already be written. (As much as Doctors scripts are actually written Grin and not just thrown together last minute.

I can't imagine anything that dramatic- unless they do something convoluted in a 'Jimmi in the Clink' style again.

It doesn't help, that this year has been so poor in terms of leaving characters/some terrible replacements. I don't want the last scenes to be about Kirsty or Rosie, or anyone else who has been there 5 minutes.

Angry.

FuzzyPuffling · 19/10/2023 07:33

Do you think Daniel knew? Jumped before he was pushed?

Raahh · 19/10/2023 07:41

Fuzzy It does make you wonder, but also this announcement appears to have come our of the blue and blindsided many- so unless he had insider info (months ago) I'm not sure. But it is a strange coincidence that 3 of the long term cast left in such a short space of time.

I also wonder if Wendi Peters was told in advance that her role was not a long one and had to keep quiet- because her joining the cast seemed like a long term thing- and now we know she is leaving too.

Grrr. I just want to go back to moaning about Kirsty's accent, and Scarlett's bad jumpers, not counting the days til it ends Sad.
