I don't know about the slide, I wonder if Nathaniel, as a black man, would be a bit hmm at the Trans Lives Matter slogan? I feel sorry for Ella, I like her, I just think she is getting everything about herself wrong.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 04/10/2023 16:29

For me, Ella doesn’t come across as happy.

And even if Nathaniel made Ella walk like a crab after a fortnight of enthusiastic bedroom antics, I still don’t think Ella would be happy. Not really.

I think there is a lot to unpick there.

I suppose it comes back to the discussion that people always have around reality TV. Given that you can't govern how you end up being portrayed and what is shown, to what extent can a person with any kind of vulnerability consent to it?

WallaceinAnderland · 04/10/2023 17:10

I think Ella just hasn't had much life experience other than her own transition. The others in the conversation at the dinner party - Nat, Porscha, Terrence, Thomas, Ros - had all been in love before, or been in serious relationships where they had strong emotional feelings and had been vulnerable and got hurt.

When talking about it, the pain was still quite raw for some of them. They had a connection, they understood each other. Ella really didn't have a clue what they were on about as her pain has been related to her relationship with herself, not others. And her pain is still raw too.

I think Nat is right, they need to talk much more about things other than Ella being transgender and needing acceptance. Nat can't relate to that. They need other, deeper connections and I'm not sure they'll find them within each other. I'm also not sure that he's bothered about putting in the effort because, at the end of the day, he clearly doesn't find her attractive but is in the difficult position of not being able to say so.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 04/10/2023 17:17

Quite Stephanie.

Do I think Ella should be there?

No.

You could say that for quite a few of them ower the years too mind.

Although to be fair, you also cannot edit what you didn’t say and that can portray you in quite the light. As chopsing on about fans and pusses and humped toes may attest.

Likewise with wanting to be disrobed and pumped in an elevator. (Or whatever it was)

Ella has bought the fantasy body and fantasy coupon. And why would they not? But it won’t attract someone who will be the Disney knight and happy ever after.

It will attract those who will treat Ella like a freak of nature, not a force of one.

And that is deeply sad.

Watching Ella desperately begging for confirmation that Nathaniel fancies her is painful. It's almost like she'd rather he lied if it meant she got the answer she wanted. I mean okay, anyone in that situation would want to hear good things, but to just keep saying 'tell me you fancy me' over and over trying to bludgeon the other person into submission is not the right way to go about it. Mind you I can't help thinking Nathaniel feels he's been put in a difficult position, trying to let down someone easily he clearly doesn't fancy without attracting the rage of the 'community'...

Ella was really disappointed when they showed up first last night. She wanted to make a big grand entrance. It's all about how she looks, she really doesn't get there is more to a person than that.

beastlyslumber · 04/10/2023 18:22

I think it should be a warning to people that actually going through transition puts you in a really difficult situation when it comes to dating. You may, like Ella, do a reasonable approximation of a "sexy lady", but that isn't going to make people want to have sex with you. Ella has essentially reduced Ella's potential dating pool to a very small number of people. As much as many people are open minded and kind, actually being in an intimate relationship with a person whose relationship with their own body is so difficult and all-consuming is not that appealing. And as far as sex goes, it is kind of extreme and challenging to get sexually intimate with someone who superficially appears to be one sex but does not have the natural working organs of that sex. I think it's a rare person who would be okay with that. Especially when, when it comes to the fake vagina, it is actually an open wound that is painful and easily infected. Sorry to be so graphic! But you can understand why someone in that situation would find it tricky to find a partner.

Added to that is the fact that the production team were clearly looking for 'woke' points so threw Ella in there without a thought about Ella's mental health and wellbeing. Or Nathaniel's.

They ought to use the opportunity to really explore what transition can mean for dating and intimacy, and have an honest conversation about it. But I guess that it's easier to pretend that it's some kind of personality clash or that Nathaniel is being cruel.

catskittens · 04/10/2023 18:33

i think its simple Nat just does not find E sexually attractive and neither her personality either

i think Nat is more feminine than E but he has been put in a no win situation no matter what he say's it will always be based by people on the trans ella it couldnt possibly be that he just dosent fancy her or gel with her personality

i feel really sorry for him tbh and think for his self he should walk now less damage to himself and ella but that would not make good tv

Newestname002 · 04/10/2023 19:14

@RobynRB

She's gone to all the trouble of having surgery yet she still acts like a man 'pretending' to be a woman.

Ahh - this it! I couldn't quite put my finger on what wasn't quite right about how Ella presented. 🌹

Here's more rehashing over of what we saw yesterday

JaneJeffer · 04/10/2023 21:04

What's with the sunglasses Peggy

beastlyslumber · 04/10/2023 21:05

Paul is sooooo handsome, bloody hell.

Sunbird24 · 04/10/2023 21:05

My internet is proper pissing me off now. 3/EE mast is being worked on apparently

mrsmalaprop · 04/10/2023 21:06

I've noticed that Brad says 'you know what I mean' as a statement whenever he says something upsetting.

It's a way to shut Shona up and make it harder to battle back.

She knows what he means. It doesn't mean she agrees!

EE is the worst provider. Kevin Bacon is a liar. I live in a large town and get barely 1 bar at home.

dapsnotplimsolls · 04/10/2023 21:07

Brad is glaring at Shona as if he's daring her to disagree.

dillite · 04/10/2023 21:08

What's up with Arthur? Has he been buried under the balcony?

openallday · 04/10/2023 21:08

I wonder if Nathaniel has ever initiated any deep and meaningful conversations

Do they do anything during the week? All we see of all the couples is a short clip of them sitting on a sofa

Sheisready · 04/10/2023 21:10

I'm sorry, but I'd find Ella and Peggy's facial surgery quite disturbing. I can see why Nathanial might not find Ella attractive, whatever her trans status.

Sleepy Comedy Central GIF by Crank Yankers

I posted this gif the first time I saw him and I reckon “you know what I mean” is his code word to get her to do his bidding

dillite · 04/10/2023 21:11

Rozz, it's OK to say that this isn't going to work. It's not at all shameful and is actually kinder to yourself and your other half.

JaneJeffer · 04/10/2023 21:12

A glass of pain or pane

dapsnotplimsolls · 04/10/2023 21:12

Thomas, wtf are you wearing?

dillite · 04/10/2023 21:12

Do we think that Brad's sideburn tattoos say "abusive wanker kung po chicken?"

JaneJeffer · 04/10/2023 21:12

Very matchy matchy outfits
