I seem to have a lot to say tonight!

Yes I thought re that scene with Nic and Byron.

i did not like the marriage proposal one bit!

Enjoying Toadie’s angst but really.. how is there that much confetti? Unless it’s Nell?!

WhyDoesItAlways · 14/12/2023 22:20

There is zero chemistry between chloe and Ellie. When she got out the taxi and kissed chloe it was like Ellie was actually disgusted by it. Hate them as a couple. They seem to have speeded up chloes huntingdons, not sure how the disease works buts she's certainly much younger than her mum when she got symptomatic. I did wonder whether this is chloe being permanently written out, possibly with assisted suicide if they want to make the story different to fayes.

I'm getting really annoyed by the toadie therese thing. It feels like they're going to split them up - if their relationship was that fragile why would they have rushed into getting married so soon. I just don't get why the writers have gone to the effort of making us believe in their relationship to now cast so much doubt on it. Very annoying.

Starburst8 · 15/12/2023 04:02

I'm assuming confetti is like glitter, spill glitter and you'll be cleaning it up for months or in this case years!

I didn't particularly like old Nicolette but at least she had something to her, the description of being like a cat is totally spot on.

Also did anyone else think Remy was a bit sanctimonious re the whole David doctor thing?

MiddleClassProblem · 15/12/2023 07:24

I think Remy will change her mind when she hears the full story. I think it was a big debate in David’s head after the it happened too so I think a doctor without all the facts could just be focused on doctor law.

It probably won’t be long until she does find out the way neighbours is going.

Rummikub · 15/12/2023 20:25

I guess it is true about glitter and Xmas tree pine needles turning up years later!

MiddleClassProblem · 16/12/2023 00:27

Labrador hair too. There must be some bouncer she’d knocking about the place…

OP posts:
DahliaMacNamara · 16/12/2023 00:49

Remy will be involved in a similar ethical dilemma when the villains come a-calling for Cara. I forget the name of the baddies in their back story, but you can be sure she'll be on the scene when they need medical assistance in the middle of a crime scene.
Drunk prediction, not spoiler. Drunk enough to imagine I'm totally on the money.

MiddleClassProblem · 18/12/2023 09:22

I don’t understand today’s episode at all. Why did the party have to be moved 2 hours away because of a power cut? It was a “party” with Toadie, Terese, Nell, Hugo and the Kennedys… And they just played cricket on the beach. The only thing they needed electricity for was the oven apparently but the table at the end looked pretty bare. 4 HOURS IN THE CAR!

They didn’t even put on any music…

Cricket in the street and a bbq. Hello?

my understanding (from the original story) is that it is progressive, in that it occurs earlier. My understanding from my biology study is that Huntingtons is caused by a duplication of a little block of DNA code and every generation its passed on, there are more and more of the replicates so its more and more severe which means it starts to affect the body earlier. If Chloe had a child, its likely they'd see onset in their teens or even earlier.

yes, a languid cat is perfect description. I liked old Nic because even when she was being awful, you could get behind her conviction and know it came somewhere from a place of her being passionate and having opinions.
It must be hard being a new head tho on a character that has no reason to change personality - so easier for say Nell who's now aged dramatically than an adult whos just been away for a year or two doing the same stuff

SleepingStandingUp · 18/12/2023 09:47

Re Toadese / Therodie. I hope they give them both a wobble but then they realise that they really do love each other and want to be together because it would be so pointless otherwise.

Paul can moon eye after her for a bit but then get back to womanising. Mel can make peace with Toadie and Therese and become like an aunty to the kids. God knows those kids need some frigging stability in their lives.

That's really interesting, thank you.

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 18/12/2023 16:42

I want Old Head Piers to come back and sweep Chloe off her feet. I never forgave Neighbours for breaking them up.

Toadie and Therese have finally won me over, even if they randomly do drive a 4 hr round trip to play cricket on the beach.

MiddleClassProblem · 18/12/2023 16:51

I wpuld be up for OG Pierce rekindling with Chloe. I was rooting for her and Leo but they’ve deaded his personality too it seems.

BusterGroove · 18/12/2023 17:11

I feel like this new series is just one big environmental campaign promoting the use of biodegradable confetti. Maybe our wildlife will be safer now neighbours is back 🤣

Twonewcats · 18/12/2023 17:48

I like how they referred to Leo's new scar, rather than hope we didn't notice. Wonder what really happened to him!

Mumofteenandtween · 18/12/2023 23:38

How old is Hugo meant to be? He’s about the size of a 10 year old. And his real age is 5 to Nell’s 10. So 10 makes sense if Nell is now 15.

But he seems to be acting like he is aged about 5.

Which is very irritating. Why not just let him be 5?

(I know - I’m obsessed with the age of the kids - but it is driving me up the wall! Nell was pretty much exactly the same age as my ds (my youngest child) and yet is now older than my Dd (my eldest child) - I just can’t cope!)

EconomyClassRockstar · 19/12/2023 00:22

@Mumofteenandtween I am struggling with the age thing too. It 100% looks as if they're setting up Nell with JJ, who is old enough to drive. It just feels a whole sort of wrong. I don't like they are expecting their old audience to suspend any form of belief in order to encourage the new audience that I don't even know if they have.

Has anyone seen any viewing figures?

HoHoHoliday · 19/12/2023 00:54

Does anyone else feel like they are watching a sort of "Neighbours lite", a really light version of what we used to have, mostly the same characters, but fairly rushed scenes with little depth and no longevity, characters with no purpose? I've truly loved Neighbours since the mid-1980s and it's making me sad these days that I'm just not enjoying. Looking through the characters and storylines,

Paul - head of a hotel chain but spends most of his time walking around the complex mentioning trivial things that a receptionist should do. Supposedly pining after Terese but not doing anything about it, no longer connected to his family.
Karl and Susan - the heart of Ramsay Street, no storyline for either of them.
Jane - no longer has a job, not really doing much to save the school, not doing much at all.
Toadie - doesn't seem to be working, just spends his time hanging around at home, sweeping the street. Two years ago married Melanie a few months after they met. One year ago devastated that Melanie left, but rapidly got over it to get together with Terese and marry her. Now, obviously, going to rekindle with Melanie. His poor kids are going to need therapy.
Nell and Hugo - Nell was born 10 years ago, Neighbours fast-tracked two years when it returned, yet Nell is apparently now 15. Celebrating her birthday with her little brother and seven adults. Does she have no friends? Not even the teenagers across the street? Hugo should be 5 but has also been struck with rapid-aging syndrome.
Chloe and Elly - no chemistry whatsoever, it's honestly like watching siblings kiss. I'm sure Elly even backs away a little when Chloe goes in for a kiss.
Holly - also an unfortunate victim of rapid-aging syndrome. She was born in 2007 so she should only be 16. Perhaps that's why she found medical school so difficult and dropped out. She's also supposed to be working at the hotel but she never goes in there, she never does any work!
Mackenzie - also never does any work! How do any of them afford to live? She spends her time wandering around willowly, drinking coffee, pining after Haz. What's the point of her now?
Mum and Ma - no ever know which is mum and which is ma. Thankfully Dr Mum/Ma actually goes to work! The other one just wanders around wearing dungarees and holding a spanner, just so we know she is a "tradie". They don't seem to have noticed their sons have disappeared.
Rodwells - they could be so interesting because there's always a lot of storylines attached to a local policeman, but if only they gave Wendy a purpose. Neither of them seem concerned that their adult daughter is neither studying nor working. I read that when Neighbours was cancelled one of the "lost" storylines was that the Rodwells were going to have a son arrive (a bit like when Piper joined Terese's family, and Jai joined the Rebeccis), that would have been more interesting than the missed opportunity "wanted more kids but didn't have them" storyline. They need to have some extended family join. That house has always been full of large family units with added drama. The three of them are lost in it.
Krista - recovering drug addict, recently gone into rehab so should currently be in peak withdrawal, shaking, sweating, vomiting, but walks in today looking like Australia's next top model. And Leo drooling over her, yuk. Is he seriously going there? That's just what a recovering addict needs, to date someone in that dysfunctional family!
Rant over... I'm just so disappointed at the moment. I'll still watch it forever...

Twonewcats · 19/12/2023 01:15

@HoHoHoliday
I'm not going to diminish how you feel, I know a couple of friends who also are not loving it.

Paul - the pining and the estrangement from family is what i think will spark his next story. Whether it's based on upset or fury, it'll fire him up.
Karl and Susan - hoping they get their teeth into something soon 🤞🏻
Toadie - i hope he doesn't rekindle with Melanie. I'm really liking him with Terese. And although Terese seems to have gobe a bit doe eyed with him, i like that she's softened a bit.
Chloe and Elly - agreed, no chemistry whatsoever. I'm a straight woman and would totally change for Chloe 😍
Holly - "She was born in 2007 so she should only be 16." Plus the 2 years. So she's 18ish.
Mackenzie - there's never been much point of her as a character, to be fair.

Rummikub · 19/12/2023 01:56

I'm sure Elly even backs away a little when Chloe goes in for a kiss.

😂😂that’s exactly what it looks like!!

Mumofteenandtween · 19/12/2023 08:02

I’m fairly forgiving of the Holly aging thing. That was done with the old neighbours making her “19 and studying medicine”. Presumably they hoped that we would be too busy looking out for Kylie and Jase to notice.

I’m wondering what is happening about the whole health and safety family that Cara is supposed to be testifying against. They had the anthrax scare then…. nothing. Do criminals stop their evil reign of terror in order to allow for their terrorised to sort out one of their kids paternity, have marital problems and be judgemental about why their Neighbour stopped being a doctor.

My prediction - the terrorisers will start again putting Cara, JJ and Dexter at risk. And then one will be terribly injured. Remi will be about to walk aware when Dashing David will dash in and stop her with a heartfelt speech! Together they will save the criminal and David and Remi will become best best friends. JJ and Dexter will then provide lots of free childcare for Aaron, David and Nicolette enabling them to have lots of drama without being hampered by the need to be home for bedtime.

Yes it's become very boring

And Elly looks like she is going to a nightclub in broad daylight or is it meant to be Christmas attire. So unconvinc

Awful deep v necks and straggly hair
