Anyone else watched this? I just finished it. Not sure what to make of the ending but I found the series really enjoyable (crazy and far fetched but enjoyable!) Beautiful setting too. Looks like it might be setting up for a second season?

The gold was a mystery ! Maybe Harp's real mum put it back near the hut with the cross up the hill and around the way

‘I watched it all. It annoyed me that after 5 years and married to a local neither the mother or the daughter had bothered to learn the language. How did a nurse and a schoolteacher afford to live in what seemed to be a fairly exclusive area?’

Maybe she sold one of the gold bars she had in her bag with her when she arrived.

It's not filmed in barcelona city, is filmed in badalona and santa coloma, cheaper places where a large house cost same as a flat in barcelona.

Loved it! Enjoyable nonsense.
My thoughts: Jordi fit AF 😍
When Harper kept being referred to as ‘Harp’ - got right on my tits. Anyone else? 😂
Wasn’t Olivia annoying? I think we’ve all met people like this in real life. Over enthusiastic, lilt in their voice. Constantly smiling and ‘on’ but totally totally fake. I was hoping she’d get done in to be honest! She completely got on my nerves 😬 😂

the80sweregreat · 05/09/2023 18:13

I was hoping that Olivia would be assassinated too! Lol

Summerslimtime · 08/09/2023 16:02

Spoiler

How come after episode 5 when she escapes from the hospital, nobody comes after her? There was a huge police chase!!!

I may have fallen asleep!?

NeedToThinkOfOne · 08/09/2023 16:43

🤣 yes, despite running half the police force off the road, they just leave it there and call it quits. Nobody other than members of the organised crime gang and the escaped prisoner former gang colleague appears at her house🤣

the80sweregreat · 08/09/2023 18:14

It sometimes kind of cut off various story lines without any warning. It was a bit surreal at times

boys3 · 08/09/2023 18:36

A bit surreal at times

Pretty much all the time @the80sweregreat 😂

I quite enjoyed it though as it was so far fetched, but consistently so. Not sure whether the comedic moments were intentional.

I enjoyed her outrunning the range rovers in particular. Plus the clear cross-over with Glow Up, didn’t know that was moving to Netflix.

the80sweregreat · 08/09/2023 19:12

I loved her shot of adrenaline! That was a Rambo moment

NeedToThinkOfOne · 08/09/2023 22:52

Oh yes, us mere mortals have a strong coffee, whilst she took a stab of adrenaline. Same, same.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 09/09/2023 07:53

We finished Who is Erin Carter and have moved on to an even more ridiculous programme if that’s even possible called Trust Me 🙈 maybe they’ve run out of ideas for series 😂.

the80sweregreat · 09/09/2023 08:54

The big coffee chains might clean up if they offered ' adrenaline' with your morning latte or frappe or whatever they sell ( I'm more of a tea drinker myself!)
Could write their name on the vials ' ready to go '

the80sweregreat · 09/09/2023 09:52

We watched ' trust me' on bbc one last year
It was fun , but bonkers !! Lol

NeedToThinkOfOne · 09/09/2023 10:17

I can see that being pitched on Dragon’s Den the80sweregreat or maybe it’s more a Black Mirror episode? 😬

the80sweregreat · 09/09/2023 11:04

Yes! Black mirror!
' get your adrenaline here '

Mooserp · 12/09/2023 09:52

I finished it last night and reading your comments is making me laugh. It was really pretty awful but I somehow enjoyed it

I loved how quickly her and Lena went from trying to kill each other, to allies, to Lena sacrificing herself to save Erin and Harper 😄

Also, how easily Harper got over witnessing a mass slaughter including the death of her mother.

IcedPurple · 24/09/2023 21:19

I've just finished watching this.

The lead actress is gorgeous and I loved her outfits. But yes, how could a nurse and a supply teacher afford to live in what appears to be an exclusive gated community type place? But then in TV land people always live in homes well above their budget so that's nothing strange I guess. It kind of annoyed me that it was set in Spain but nobody spoke Spanish. Why not just set it in an English speaking country? I also thought the dialogue was written by an American. Lots of Americanisms there, which just added to the 'dubbed' vibe, as mentioned by posters above.

The action scenes were completely ridiculous even by the standards of these things. The final episode was completely bizarre. I don't think I'll watch a series 2 if there is one, and they seemed to be allowing themselves the option.

the80sweregreat · 03/09/2023 11:29

Oh, sorry , didn't know the actor !

His accent did sound fake, really cheesy and OTT.

jolaylasofia · 24/09/2023 21:52

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 03/09/2023 10:57

that should say episodes 😂. Also how can you live in Spain for 5 years, be married to a Spanish man and only appear to know “si” in Spanish?

i've lived in kurdistan for 10 years married to
a local and speak very basic kurdish. we speak english at home. i speak english at work- just don't have enough practice to speak fluently

margotmargeaux · 24/09/2023 21:55

hattie43 · 03/09/2023 21:36

I've just lost interest tbh saw up to chapter 4 and struggling to finish it

Same. I lost interest and gave up.

isthismylifenow · 24/09/2023 22:06

I quite like to binge watch series, but this one, it took a while. It only got fairly interesting about episode 4, but it was so slow to start.

It was terrible 😂. But I did end up finishing it. And no clue now if that is thst, or was the bar scene supposed to he for another season. Who knows.

fussychica · 25/09/2023 20:31

OMG how bad was that?! Turned off after 20 minutes. Terrible acting and totally unbelievable from the start. A teacher living in Spain for 5 years and dating a Spaniard yet doesn't speak even basic Spanish, come on!

Not just dating! Married to a Spaniard and doesn't speak a word of Spanish or Catalan! But I guess since absolutely everyone in Barcelona speaks flawless colloquial English it doesn't matter. Apparently.

Was it ever explained why she fled to Barcelona? Or how she managed to pass 'Harp' off as her daughter and get a job as a teacher with no supporting documentation?

isthismylifenow · 25/09/2023 21:47

I still can't work out what the connection was with Harper's eye problem. I thought in the last few episodes it might come out that Lena some eye issue as well , but nothing.

I don't even know why it was in the story line. Did I miss something somewhere? (which is very possible)
