I’ve been watching some classic Corrie recently, from about 20 years ago I think. So much sexism and normalisation of creepy male behaviour. There’s a storyline with Karen and Steve, where Steve is accusing her of cheating with someone who works at the factory (Joe?). Steve and Joe are competing for Karen’s affections, both behaving in a really aggressive and creepy way, as if she simply MUST be with one or the other, and it will be decided for her, because she is completely helpless and doesn’t have a mind of her own, rather she is merely a prize that is being fought over. I found the last episode particularly unpleasant as as Joe locks her in the factory and manically gets up in her face, delivering this crazed monologue where he is trying to get into her head and convince her Steve is wrong for her and doesn’t care about her, that it’s him she should be with. And of course she gives in and shags him there and then on Mike’s desk.

I watched this sort of shite as a teenager. No wonder I ended up with a skewed idea of healthy relationships and acceptable behaviour

Slightly off topic but does anyone else’s telly randomly cut out at the second ad break? Mine’s been doing it for weeks now. It’s fine upstairs on the Roku, but apparently it causes lag on Call Of Duty 🙄

Are you watching on a delay? I’ve worked out that itv treats one hour corrie as two separate episodes, so if I watch on a delay it suddenly cuts to real time at the second ad break. ITVx is awful.

I'd forgotten Nina would be around that night of course. I wonder if Lauren will move into Roy's and get support and help from Roy and Nina. We need a more cheerful storyline.

I kept waiting for Roy to mention that Nina lived with him. I felt sorry for Lauren for the first time. She was used as a honeytrap by her Dad and his disgusting gang. I think she slept with Max shortly after meeting him.

I used to watch it religiously, now if I can't really be arsed, none of it makes sense, it's too OTT
